| Who Are We? How Do We Operate? |
| The Lake Parsippany Junior Volunteer Fire Company consists of highly motivated indivuals. Their purpose is to assist the Lake Parsippany Volunteer Fire Company District #3 on the fireground in an effort to acheive the task at hand. On the fireground the junior squad is responsible for laying out the proper firefighting tools needed for the specific call. This assitance is vital for a smooth operation and it simultanously expands the knowledge of the junior members regarding the tools of the trade. In the event the designated saftey officer is not available for that call the junior squad assists the highest ranking fire officer on scene with accountability. Our Junior squad currently has 8 members where we elected a chief, asst. chief, president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer. Each elected official has a specific job to take care of both on and off the fireground, which could include setting up drills, running meetings, or taking care of the fundraising. As a department, each month we decide on a drill which we feel would better enhance our general firefighting knowledge or would benefit us on the fireground. Some of the drills we have done are hydrants, hose laying, equipment deployment, general firefighting equipment, and engine company operations. As well as having our own Jr. Drill each month each member is also required to attend the fire company monthly drill. As well as going to drill, the jr. squad holds a jr. meeting each moth where we plan out fundraisers, decide drills, and talk about anything that needs to be discussed. Any official change or revision done in the jr. squad will be discussed and voted on in the jr. meeting. These changes are then approved by our advisory commitee and/or the senior company before offically going into effect. The Lake Parsippany junior squad also holds many fundraisers such as car washes, candy sales, and christmas ornament sales. The money raised is put towards educating juniors by implementing various drills which enhance there knowledge of firematic activities. It is extremely important that the members learn this early on for when they do become senior members it will be vital when on an actual fire call. The money may also be used to fund junior member feild trips to firefighting related places, such as our dispatching station or other firehouses in the area. Below is an example of what the juniors primary responsibility is on the fireground: |
