1st August 2005... Being Bored Is Boring Hi all.... im kinda bored right now so here is a teeny update of what has been happening redarding this project. Well nothing really. Actually I did get the paint and stuff I need for the drums. Yup. The 13"x7" is gonna be black with a gold crackle effect, and the 12"x4" is gonna be silver sparkle using the sparkle spray thingy. Now just to sit and wait for the shells to get here......... I will hopefully have them by the end of the week... then the blog will REALLY get going. Also I think I will continue this blog using a proper blog as it will be a lot more easier for me.... I will put a link to it if that happens... OOH Friends is on!..... Gotta go ;) Laura P.S. Pinch punch first of the month... no returns!... :p

20th July 2005... Badges Hi everyone! I'm back again with a short update. Recently I have been thinking of doing badges to put on the drums to give them an 'identity'. I don't want a metal badge so I thought I would try out using waterslide decal badges. You can get special inkjet paper which allows you to create your badges on your computer and them print them out redy for use! I want to do a company name for the drums to give it a more professional look... Here are the designs i have come up with so far... (nothing special.... they were done on MS paint).

15th July 2005....Welcome! Hi all! I have decided to do a blog stylee thing documenting my second drum building project. I am not actually due to recieve the shells for a couple of weeks but I'm really excited and thought what the hell... lets get this thing going! I have ordered two birch ply shells from HighWood Drums here are the specs for both of them: - 13"x7" 12 mm thick 12"x4" 6 mm thick To be honest I'm not quite sure why I ordered two shells considering I already have three snare drums.... i guess the more the merrier? I have not bought any hardware for the shells for two reasons.... one is that I havent a clue what I'm going to do to the shells finishing wise (I have too many damn ideas) and the other reason is that I can't afford any hardware at the moment... Last thing for today.... I'll fill you all in on the ideas I am leaning towards for finishing the shells. I think I will do a 'crackle' finish on the 13" shell... this finish would give the shell a distressed antiquey look which i think would be cool... this can be done using special 'incompatible' paints. For the 12" I'm thinking a sparkle finish using the sparkle spray paints you can get from plastikote.... I am also considering dyeing it because i think I should show of the beautiful birch grain..... but i like SPARKLES!!!! :( Decisions decisions.... Thats all for now folks! Laura
