Highlights

The Takoma Pirates had some difficulty generating a sustained offense against a potent MVSA defense. MVSA struggled through the second inning when pitching problems and 3 fielding errors allowed the Pirates to score 5 runs. However, as first game jitters were quieted, MVSA took control of the rest of the game. Roger T. anchored the catcher's position while Rick P., Daniel C. and Andrew V. pitched to the Pirates. As lead-off batter, Kyle B. scored twice for MVSA; Rick P. scored three times, Andrew V. added another two, and Roger T. provided the 8th run. Strong hitting for MVSA came from Rick P., who had a double and a triple, Henry B., who had a single and a double, and Tony L., who had a pair of singles. For a strong offensive perfomance and allowing no runs while pitching in the 4th, 5th, and 6th innings, Andrew V. was awarded the game ball.

Highlights

After an error-ridden 1st inning, MVSA settled down and played well against UMAC. Andrew V., on a 3-0 count, then launched the ball over the center fielder for a 3 RBI home run, giving MVSA the win. For starting the 6th inning rally with 2 outs with a solid single and an RBI, Alex K. got the first game ball, and for the game-winning 3 RBI home run, Andrew V. was awarded the second game ball.
