Are you looking for a league without the big stars and the big contracts? Are
you looking for a league that's not going to take up all of your time? If
you answered "yes" to these two questions, this might be the league
for you.
League Premise:
An Independent Baseball League. Available players (player scope) are
those not drafted (under contract) by an Lp2 team (
www.geocities.com/lp2simbaseball).
Currently, the Lp2 has 47 man rosters on 12 teams, meaning the Independent
Baseball League would consist of players that did not comprise of the 564
players that play in the Lp2.
The Independent League will have a very unique player scope, as one could
imagine without 564 of the "top" players. Each year, a few players
in the Independent League may be drafted into the Lp2, or fall off the
"baseball map" (not make an appearance in the actual major leagues).
If and when that happens, don't worry, a draft will be held to
replace those "drafted/retired/missing" players.
Why this set-up? The Independent League set-up gives an owner a unique
perspective on managing/running a team, a team which will undoubtedly be void
of the common household name and stars. It gives an owner the feel of running
a real-life independent/minor league team. It will give the league that
"old-time" feeling, when baseball was just a game and the players
were just that, players. It allows some of the unknowns to become
stars and some aging vets a chance to continue playing the game the great
game. The leaderboards will be filled with the "John Doe's" of the
baseball world, not the A-Rod's and Pedro's. This will definitely not be your
normal league and, chances are, it's the only one of it's kind.

The following are a set of basic rules. As the league progresses, these rules
may be modified to suit the thoughts and wants of the owners.
Initial Season Rules:
12 Teams
30 man rosters, 25 man active, 5 man "practice squad"
Initial Rosters DMB Autodrafted
Teams may drop one player, and replace him with a "team
captain". The team captain will be selected from a list of players
who have received between 10 and 74.9% of the vote in any HOF election over
the past 15 years, and are not in the Hall. This selection will be made yearly. The first
year's selections will be determined by a random lottery to decide selection
order. Future years will use reverse order of finish. A "team
captain" may not be retained year-to-year, or re-drafted in the next
year's draft. Once you use a team captain, you may not use that player
in any future seasons. If an eligible team captain gets elected to the
Hall of Fame he is ineligible from that season on.
Lp2 Owners have first dibs on initial teams
Teams not claimed will be offered to former Lp2 owners, as well as to others
interested.
No DH
Injuries OFF
Trades Allowed. In the case of uneven trades, the team receiving more
players must drop to get to the 30-man max. Adds not allowed, unless a
team gets under 25 players.
154 game season
Players can only play a position they are rated for.
SPs can relieve, relievers cannot start unless they have an SP rating.
No playing-time restrictions.
Played in current National League ERA
Team names have been selected, but can be changed by the owner to any defunct
baseball club's name.
Old parks no longer in use will be teams' homes..
Sim schedule decided on by commmisioner, simmed by commisioner.

Drafts are held after Lp2 draft is fully complete.
Team owners choose 15 "keepers"
DMB Autodrafts the last 15 to complete 30 man roster.
Reverse order of finish.
Vacated teams will be filled by qualified, interested owners.
Why autodraft? Two reasons:
1. DMB auto-draft program helps to better even the playing field.
2. No lengthy, time consuming, drafts.
Each team may keep 15 players who are still eligible for the league (not retired or drafted by an LP2 team) every year.
If a team does not have 15 eligibles on its roster for whatever reason, a supplemental
autodraft will be held prior to the roster-filling auto draft in order to get
these team(s) to the 15 man keeper limit..
