This walkthrough belongs to me and if I find out your using it I will make sure you stop. This walkthrough has been made from my hard work, time, and devotion. Only places I choose to put this Walkthrough on, or allow to put it on, can use this Walkthrough, otherwise it will remain on My Zelda Sites and any other of my sites that I so desire to put it on. I have worked hard for two years off, and on so expect this guide to be helpful, and not completely boring. Thanks for your interest in my A Link to the Past Walkthrough, and for your curiosity in looking at this Intro. Keep in mind this is my first ever Walkthrough of any kind, so if it seems incomplete, unprofessional, badly worded, boring, ect. I really dont care, and you shouldnt either, because I am brand new at writing Walkthroughs, and there fore cant be expected to be as good as a seasoned Walkthrough writer. If you dont like my Walkthrough feel free to stop reading my Walkthrough, and read anyone elses Walkthrough. This Walkthrough is being submitted once, and will not be updated, as it has been updated to its complete status long before submission to any big sites, as to keep a good name for myself with the finest Walkthrough possible. Who I am: My name is Frank Chown. I go by Chubes12 on my website www.geocities.com/chubes12, and go by Chubes12 on www.runescape.com I go by Chubes12 here on www.Gamefaqs.com My email is [email protected] so if you have any concerns, questions, comments, email me about them, and I will try to answer then to the best of my ability, and on reasonable timely basis. II: Credit Cmoriarty from Gamefaqs is my favorite ALTTP Walkthrough writer! Back in 2002 when I first played ALTTP I had bought the game for the first time, and it was the GBA version. Whenever I got stuck I used his Walkthrough. Even when I wasnt stuck I used his Walkthrough. His Walkthrough was so fun to read, and well written, that its probably the inspiration that sparked this Walkthrough. After I almost beat the game with reading his Walkthrough I sold my game, re-bought it, beat It, and have since beaten in 11 times! This is why I made this Walkthrough, and sadly when I made the Heart Piece Section I referenced how to get the Heart Pieces while reading HIS Walkthrough, so thats why theyre in the same order as his. If you dont like my Walkthrough, PLEASE read his. You shouldnt be disappointed, because he is a very experienced Walkthrough writer, and is a very interesting read, like reading a good novel, because its not all game coverage, theres humor, jokes, and comments all the way through it. Also, I must thank Nintendo for making this game, the best Zelda game of all time in my opinion, and I must also thank Capcom for porting it, adding some new things, and adding a multiplayer adventure on the side as well! III: Update Chart Note: These Updates were taken directly from my ALTTP Website, and read only what they say on the Website, so they may sound a little strange in this Walkthrough. If you dont care about that sort of thing, just skip this section. 8-29-04 Created this page and moved and edited the three simple pages from my Main Zelda page 8-31-04 Made Part I of my ALTTP Walkthrough 9-6-04 Made Part II of my ALTTP Walkthrough Made Intro of my ALTTP Walkthrough 9-7-04 Started my Heart Piece Guide. 9-12-04 Started my ALTTP Walkthrough Part III. 11-25-04 Although a little late Ive finished Part III of my ALTTP Walkthrough. I also Started Part V of my ALTTP Walkthrough. 11-26-04 Made Part IV of my ALTTP Walkthrough. Also finished Part V of my ALTTP Walkthrough. I finally updated the Heart Piece Guide. 12-23-04 Edited the guide changing text size, certain phrases, adding sub-titles, ECT. Walkthrough Part VI COMING SOON! 12-27-04 Made Walkthrough Part VI of my ALTTP Walkthrough. I changed the Layout of the index. (This Page) 1-23-05 Made Walkthrough Part VII of my ALTTP Walkthrough. Sorry about the slow updates but this is hard, long, and I usually get busy and forget about it. I know it's a bad excuse to be so slow, but this is my very first guide ever. I have made up for my laziness this time though, because this is the biggest part yet, about double the average length, it is also much more detailed. 1-24-05 Updated the Heart Piece Guide with 3 more Heart Pieces. Also changed the name of this page, and had to fix 13 dead links to reconnect to this page. 3-5-05 Made Walkthrough Part VIII! It seems to have been about a month since Part VII! I think that a good way for me to not disappoint you people is to crank out a Guide update about once a month and possibly sooner. 3-14-05 Made Walkthrough Part XI! Sorry, I actually wanted to do this one last week! Also Made Walkthrough Part IX! 4-29-05 Made Walkthrough Part X, and Geocities Erased Most of it! I will NOT work on this guide for most likely half a year, because 1. I'm totally pissed off! 2. I will be gone for all of June, and most of July on vacation. I'm busy until then. 8-3-05 I'm back, and Ive completely redone Walkthrough Part X, and it is now finished! Not, quite half a year, but hey Ive been home from vacation for a week and a half, and wanted to do something fun. 4 Levels remain. This guide has taken me almost a year so far to make 26 days remain until the one year anniversary. Also extended Walkthrough Part V, and completed Walkthrough Part XII, Walkthrough Part XV, and Walkthrough Part XVIII! After thinking it through I decided although I want to make this guide at my own pace its not fast enough so I made a Ganon Fight Walkthrough for those already that far. I also decided to make an eventual Four Swords Dungeon Extra. As a final part to this massive update, I decided the text update log had to be put into a nice little scroll box to clean up the Index a little. 8-6-05 Okay, the background with green on green letters for every part of my guide was near blinding. Its gone. It is now glow green on black. It is very easy to read as it should have been all along. 8-8-05 Within a week of making the massive update covering the horrible Dark World Level 3, and the two Optional and Required pages, and the Ganon Fight, Ive made another great update Walkthrough Part XIII covering another horrible level, Dark World Level 5 is now finished! I also finished the Heart Piece Guide! This means that there are only 4 levels left including the Four Swords Dungeon! One more thing, Walkthrough Part XIII covers the SNES, and GBA versions of Dark World Level 5! Three weeks exactly remain until the one year anniversary of starting this guide, and Ive realized of all the months August is the most fruitful for Guide Updates. 5 updates total between the two August's. 8-18-05 Finished Walkthrough XIX covering The Four Sword Dungeon! It's been 10 days since my last update. I still want to do the Dark World Level 6 Walkthrough really bad, so its a done deal that, that will be the next level to be covered. This brings down the count of dungeons left to cover to 3. The next dungeon is a favorite, so it shouldn't take too long to come out, the other 2 may take some time to come out though. Don't expect many, many months though, because Im very eager to finish this as readers are to read it, and most likely more. 11 days left until the one year mark of starting this Walkthrough. The next Zelda on my mind for a possible next Walkthrough is The Minish Cap, as it is the other GBA Zelda, and similar to ALTTP. 8-22-05 Only four days after my last update, and a week until the one year anniversary of the start of this guide, here is another update! Finished Walkthrough Part XIV covering Dark World Level 6! Yes, as I promised I did do Dark World Level 6 rather fast, because it is my favorite ALTTP level, and I wanted to make it before summer ended, so I made it before the end of summer. This now leaves only two levels left to write Walkthrough Parts for. This means I will likely do them faster then usual to be able to finally finish my ALTTP Guide! Also I edited most of the pages, because they didn't have -End of Part (something or other)- on them. Now, that is fixed, so the guide is a bit cleaner. 8-25-05 Only three days after my last update, and a week after the previous update, I have made another update! This time it covers Dark World Level 7. Now, only four days remain until the one year anniversary of starting this guide. I know this has been a ridiculously long ride from start to finish, but this is my first guide, and I have had a difficult, and complicated past year while writing this guide. There is only one Dungeon left to write. It is Dark World Level 8, and I will try to write it in time for the one year mark of starting this guide. 8-27-05 Finished Walkthrough Part XVII, and also decided to change the titles of most of the previous Walkthrough Parts to better describe what they are for. Now, a dungeon Walkthrough Part will now say Dark World Level 1 instead of The First Crystal, and so on with all Dungeon Walkthrough Parts. I also made The End Page. Yes, this is the end. This is the end of my ALTTP Walkthrough. It took a year, but I am finally finished. Even better yet the one year anniversary of the start of this Walkthrough comes in two days, so I have finished this Walkthrough in under a year. Eventually I will try to clean up the Entire Walkthrough, and put it through Spell Check, and the like. I might add some other stuff too. 8-28-05 Yes, my quest is not done. It is not done yet. My quest continues in the editing, and spell checking process. I have only cleaned up the Intro, and it has not been posted yet. I am continuing to clean up the Walkthrough. In the process of editing to make it easier Ive made the text size in all Walkthrough Parts size 14 rather then size 18 font. 8-29-05 Today, is the one year anniversary of this the making of this Walkthrough. The Walkthrough totals 64 pages so far, and its badly spell checked. It will take some time yet to be fully spell checked. To be low resolution friendly I made this page as small as I could. Now, it should be able to be viewed without extending bars on all angles, but I could be wrong. I also changed the background to black to match all the Walkthrough Parts, mostly to be more readable. As a final addition to this update I deleted the Level Tips Small Guide, as it is no longer necessary, and I added links to all the Parts so that they can be interconnected without having to go to the Index all the time. 9-1-05 What Ive done today on the Rough Draft on my Computer: Re-wrote the first Castle quest, and got rid of the Walkthrough parts, and ends. I have yet to re-write the rest of the guide, and do spell check. None of these new additions have been added to the website. Thanks to my efforts today the Walkthrough in its fullest has gone from 64 pages to 63 pages. 9-2-05 Put the ALTTP Walkthrough Rough Draft on my main Zelda Website, and on this ALTTP Website. It contains the COMPLETE Walkthrough containing everything here, but slightly edited, and in one piece. Also finished editing up to Page 11, which is the beginning of Light World Level 3. This extra editing is not in the Walkthrough version on my Websites yet. 9-3-05 Ive now edited the Walkthrough through the first 15 pages, which covers the Walkthrough up through the Optional and Required Items Part I, which is beyond Light World Level 3. I have yet to re-post this Walkthrough, mostly only, because it takes about a minute to post on the site, and I dont want to do that very often. 9-7-05 I added in game text to the Walkthrough. This text goes from the beginning intro all the way to the sanctuary. This text has extended the guide from 63 pages to 65 pages! This is the longest the Walkthrough has ever been. Ive also continued editing the Walkthrough up to the end of Walkthrough Part I: Light World Walkthrough. The first half of the Walkthrough has now been completely edited. Now, Ive re-posted the Walkthrough with the edits through ALTTP Part I: Light World Walkthrough. 10-9-05 Its been awhile, (over a month to be exact) but I decided to add more in-game text to the beginning of the game, I covered Light World Level 1, and Light World Level 2 text this time. Now, Light World Level 3, and the Castle Tower text is next on the list, then I will be COMPLETELY done with Walkthrough Part I. 10-15-05 Once again I added more in-game text this time I added Light World Level 3 text, and Castle Return Text, which completed the text through my ALTTP Walkthrough Part I: Light World Walkthrough! Now, I need to edit my ALTTP Walkthrough Part II: Dark World Walkthrough, and add missing text! 10-28-05 I edited up to Dark World Level 1, and added all text up to that point. 2-3-06 Long time no see, I know its been a bit longer then usual to be absent from this, but I needed a break. This is my present for my main websites 2 year anniversary. Ive edited, and added text for Dark World Level 1 today. I may add Dark World Level 2, 3 + 4 stuff someday in the near future, but only if my school calms down a bit first. 2-4-06 I edited the Walkthrough up to Dark World Level 2. I also edited, and added text for all of Dark World Level 4. Dark World Levels 2 + 3 will be edited next. 2-20-06 I edited Dark World Level 2 completely, and got all the way to the directions of how to get to Dark World Level 3. I hope to edit Dark World Level 3, sometime soon, but the week end is over, so dont expect it within a week, unless Im desperate. 2-21-06 You guessed it, Im desperate. Ive edited the Walkthrough up through Optional and Required Items Part II, which is beyond Dark World Levels 1 4. Now, Im done with most of the work on this Walkthrough now. I may skim through the Walkthrough up through Dark World Levels 5 7, but nothing quite as serious as any editing Ive done so far. 2-25-06 I edited Dark World Level 5, but there wasnt much to edit, and it wasnt all that necessary, it didnt take very long to edit either, because I literally did just skim it, as I said I would a few days ago. I think I will lightly edit Dark World Levels 6 8 in the same fashion, except Dark World Level 8, I hope to add a portion of extra walkthrough for. 5-17-06 Im sorry Ive been gone for so long. Working on this walkthrough isnt as fun as it used to be, and finding time to do it is another major problem. Im also sorry I didnt finish what I set out to do for today. I edited Dark World Level 6, but made it only to the Big Chest. This means Im almost done with Dark World Level 6, but not quite done. Sorry about that. I will most certainly try to wrap that up sometime soon, but I have Lost to watch, so this is it for now. 5-18-06 I finished the last bit of Dark World Level 6, and I edited Optional and Required Items Part III. It wasnt much, but I couldnt leave it unfinished. I will edit Dark World Level 7 at another time. This is all, although small, for today. 7-10-06 I havent done much yet today, but I have edited the areas before Dark World Level 7. Im so glad I was able to stay true to what I set out to do today. I edited all of Dark World Level 7, though very little editing was required. This leaves only Dark World Level 8 left to edit, and it is a much major edit than these past three levels were, because it has an alternate Walkthrough, which hasnt been typed yet. This may take along time to produce though, and will finish the walkthrough for good. 7-11-06 Okay, so this really isnt much of an update, but since I did an update yesterday I felt why shouldnt I do an update today as well. Today, I edited all of the before Dark World Level 8 things, because I know how much of them there are, and felt they should be done at a different time than Dark World Level 8 work time, to help ease that load. Also, as kind of a last minute thing, Ive made a credit section where I give credit to those who effected, and caused this Walkthrough in any way, although its basically only thanking one individual. I had to do it, as its only the decent thing to do. One last thing Ive restructured the Guide, so that the Items, and Heart Piece Guides are before the actual Walkthrough now. It had to be done, because the THE END section was actually before them, and they felt rather tacked onto the end, so they got bumped way up to be in better alignment with everything else. 7-14-06 I have no intention of writing the guide for Dark World Level 8, or its West Path tonight, because I just beat Dark World Level 8, and dont want to play it twice in one night. I learned something valuable tonight while playing though. While playing I drew a map for the entire basement by hand, and explored both the West, and East paths. What I learned, that really ended up shocking me was that the West Path is actually easier than the East Path, and the East Path is the path Ive always used. The West Path has less obstacles, easier puzzles, and unlike the East Path, requires no magic. When I write a guide for the West Path I will suggest to not use the East Path, and might erase the East Path Guide as well. Using the map will speed up writing time next time. Hopefully sometime soon I will finish work on Dark World Level 8. 8-24-06 I didnt want to wait a month to make this update, because I now have 5 days before the second anniversary of starting this Walkthrough to finish editing this Walkthrough. Today, Ive Editted Part I of the Two Parts of Dark World Level 8. In Part I, I added the Mini-Guide to the West Path of Part I, and edited the former East Path. When I continue work on the Walkthrough sometime soon, I will edit Part II of Dark World Level 8. After that, I will edit the last remaining areas of the Walkthrough, and will submit it hopefully to a big site, like Gamefaqs. Update: I received my first fan post on this Walkthrough after 2 years of working on it, and Im so flattered Ive posted the fully updated version of this on both websites of mine. It takes a lot of loading time, but Its worth it for the fans! 8-25-06 Ive edited Part II of Dark World Level 8, edited my Four Swords Dungeon Mini Guide, and edited the Items guide as well! I am ready to submit this Walkthrough, and it is hereby complete! Story, and Controls: The Lost sections! These WILL NOT be included, as I have the story fully typed in whenever dialogue occurs in game I type it in! Controls, are NOT needed, because I specifically explain how to use items, with what buttons at the beginning of the game. If you really care about Story, and cant figure out controls as simple as these, especially when I explain them IN the Walkthrough, well I cant help you then. Youll have to read another Walkthrough if you really need those! IV: Items Bow: Bow and Arrow: Receive in Level 1 Light World. Kill ALL enemies, and go through the North Door. In this room grab HP XXIV. VI: Boss Section Note: These Boss Guides came directly from within the Walkthrough! Light World Level 1 Boss: Armos Knights: Phase 1: To kill the Armos Knights you must slash them individually, or hit them with a Bow and Arrow individually. I suggest you stay in a corner, and when they dance around in a circle slash endlessly, because they will literally fall into your blade most of the time. Do the same when they march forward. Phase 2: When you've killed all but one Armos Knight, it will turn red, and start dropping from above, but I suggest you stay in one spot endlessly slashing, because he will literally run into your sword. Though it is a good idea to use your Bow and Arrow here also. Light World Level 2 Boss: Lanmolas Phase 1: This boss is pretty simple all you have to do is make sure when they slowly dive in and out of the sand to not get hit by their small rocks, or by them, but they aren't trying to hit you, so dodging them is pretty simple. All you need to do is slash, and dodge each individual Lanmolas. There are only 3 of them, and about 4-6 hits should kill each one. The secret to hitting them, is to stand above a brown hole where a Lanmolas is about to appear, and to slash your sword above it or to just chase them while they are flying around. Once, all three have been killed, you will receive the Pendent of Power, another Heart Container, and will be directed to go to the 3rd dungeon on the mountain to obtain the final pendent, the pendent of Wisdom. Light World Level 3 Boss: Moldrom This Boss will most likely be your first challenging Boss Battle. Phase 1: Okay, the key to beating this boss is to stay quick on your feet, and to slash his tail. Keep in mind that when he gets super squirmy aiming at his head might end up hitting his tail, but no guarantees. Once you've hit him eight times he will finally die, which should come as a quick relieve. In this battle be very careful and memorize his patterns, avoid the hole in the platform, and the edges of the platform at all costs. If you fall off dont worry you can just run back up to the 6th Floor, and fight him again from the beginning. If you fall off, and lose some health use the pot formation to regain your health. Once you've killed him you will warp outside. Castle Boss: Aghanim There is only two ways to kill Agahnim. Phase 1, Option 1: Bounce his flame balls back at him with your Master Sword until he has been defeated. Phase 1, Option 2: Bounce his flame balls back at him with your Bug Catching Net until he has been defeated. Using the Bug Catching Net is Highly Recommended, but not required. Dark World Level 1 Boss: Helmasaur King This boss is pretty simple despite its looks. The key to defeating him is by using your Magic Hammer. Phase 1: Hit him once with you Magic Hammer to break off a chunk of his mask. He uses a fire ball that splits into three fireballs, which all split into four fire balls, but they split one by one, and are easy to avoid. Phase 2: 9 stabs with the Magic Hammer will break off another chunk of his mask, and he uses the fire ball again. Phase 3: 9 stabs of your Magic Hammer will once again, do the trick, but this time his mask will fall off. Phase 4: Shoot him six times on the green spot, on his forehead above his eyes, with your Bow, and Arrow. Dark World Level 2 Boss: Arrghus Phase 1: Arrghus is covered in bubbles. Use your Hook Shot from a safe distance to pull off a bubble, slash it when it comes off to kill it. It will take 2 hits with your sword to kill the bubble. Arrghus will begin spinning his bubbles around to attempt to hurt you. There are 12 bubbles total. Phase 2: Arrghus has no bubbles left, so he will begin to roll around the room. Avoid him at all costs, as it will take many hearts away. Every time you hit him, he will jump up, and pound back down, and begin rolling again. He has a set pattern that he moves in, so stay in a corner, and memorize his pattern, then begin slashing him. When he lands, he will try to land, on top, so be careful, this will change his set pattern too. After slashing him 8 times he will die. Dark World Level 3 Boss: Mothula Phase 1: Use your Fire Rod, if you have magic, but if you dont use your sword. The goal in this battle is to hit Mothula enough times to kill it. Avoid the moving Floor Spikes, and avoid the fire ball strings he throws at you. If youre like me, and you ran out of magic after 4 hits with your Fire Rod, then it will take another 4 hits with your sword to kill him. Dark World Level 4 Boss: Blind the Thief In this battle watch out for bubbles, and laser beams when you slash Blind. Phase 1: Slash Blind 3 times with your sword to knock off his head. Phase 2: Blinds head will float around, and shoot bubbles at you, while his regular body, will move around, and shoot lasers, and bubbles at you. Slash him 3 times to knock off his second head. Phase 3: Blinds two heads will float around, and shoot bubbles at you, while his regular body, will move around, and shoot lasers, and bubbles at you. Slash him 3 times to destroy his body, and third head, in addition to his first two heads. Dark World Level 5 Boss: Kholdstare Phase 1: Avoid the ice balls dropping from the ceiling, and hit Kholdstare with 8 blasts of your Fire Rod to melt him out. Phase 2: Slash the three eyes of Kholdstare as they move about the room, and continue to avoid the ice balls dropping from the ceiling. They move slowly, and take few hits to kill. Once, all three of them are dead, youll win the boss battle. Dark World Level 6 Boss: Vitreous Phase 1: Sit in either the southwest, or southeast corner, and slash the eyes as they come near you. In about four hits each eye will die away. When only four small eyes remain, the large eye will rise up beginning Phase 2. Phase 2: Remain in either the southwest, or southeast corner, and hit the large eye 16 times with the Level 3, Red Sword. If done correctly you wont get hurt at all in this level. Dark World Level 7 Boss: Trinexx Phase 1: Pull out your Fire Rod, and hit the Ice Blue Head to make it red. Now, slash it. Repeat until it falls off. Watch out for the icy floor he makes. Also watch out for attacks the Rock Head does. This head takes more hits then the other head. It takes three hits to kill with the Golden Sword. Phase 2: Pull out your Ice Rod, and hit the Fire Red Head to make it red. Now, slash it. Repeat until it falls off. Watch out for the fire trail he makes. Also watch out for attacks the Rock Head does. This head also takes three hits to kill with the Golden Sword. Phase 3: Dodge the Rock Snake, and slash his Orange Stomach. Repeat until he dies. It only takes three hits with the Golden Sword. Upgraded Light World Level 1 Boss: Armos Knights Upgrade: Icy Floor, can with stain more damage. Phase 1: Slash the 6 Blue Armos Knights as they dance around the floor. It will take about 5 hits to kill each one. Phase 2: Slash the 1 Red Armos Knight, and avoid him as he stomps. Upgraded Boss 2: Light World Level 2 Boss: Lanmolas Upgrade: Beam Shooting Statue, and longer duration. Phase 1: Slash when it is above ground, preferably when it sticks its head out at first. It should take 2 3 hits with your sword depending on what sword it is. Degraded Boss 3: Light World Level 3 Boss: Moldrom Degrade: More space to kill him in, he moves slower, he dies in very few hits. Phase 1: Slash him 2 times to kill him with your Level 4 Sword. 4 times with Level 3 Sword. 6 times with Level 2 Sword. Upgraded Boss 4: Light World Castle Boss: Agahnim Upgrade: He has two clones that can't be hurt, or killed, and shoot fireballs at you. Phase 1: Pull out your Bug Catching Net, and relay the Fireballs back at the REAL Agahnim, not one of the two clones. Hint: The real Agahnim does Blue Beams, and Thunder. The other two don't. Second Hint: Agahnim is a different shade then his clones. The best way to kill Agahnim is to get close to him, NOT a clone, and relay his attacks, at him, NOT a clones. Basically COMPLETLY ignore the two clones as they are there to distract you only, and relay the Real Agahnim's attacks at him. But, in some situations relaying the Fireballs of the two clones at the real Agahnim can also be quite helpful. In about 4 6 hits Aghanim should be dead. Pyramid of Power Boss: Ganondorf Prince of Darkness Before he talks run in, and do a single cheap shot! Phase 1: Ganon throws his metal staff! Dodge the metal staff, and slash Ganon several times. When he throws it slash him when its far away from him. It should take about 6 8 hits, but its easy to dodge his attacks. Phase 2: Ganon releases a fire circle that expands out, shrinks in, and turns into fire hawks! Wait a small distance away and let the fire turn into hawks as they fly away from him dodge them, and go in for a few slashes after he warps away before he summons the flame circle. This should take about 6 8 hits, but It shouldnt take too long to get through this phase either. Phase 3: Ganon knocks the edges off the floor! Slash Ganon to make him knock off a whole edge off the floor. Repeat 3 times to start Phase 4. This is the end of the metal staff, and the fire circle with fire hawks. All Ganon does now is warping, and floor breaking. Phase 4: Ganon puts out the lights, and lets out the fire hawks! Pull out your Fire Rod, or your Lamp, and light the two unlighted torches. Walk up to the visible Ganon, and slash him. Pull out your Bow and Silver Arrow, and let a Silver Arrow fly into him. Repeat 3 more times, and Ganon will die. Note: If you fall down into the room below, go outside, jump off the Pyramid of Power, re-climb the Pyramid of Power, and restart the battle from Phase 1. Upgraded Boss 1: Dark World Level 2 Boss: Arrghus II Upgrade: Red Bubbles replaced by Green Jellyfish Phase 1: Pull off the Green Jellyfish with the Hook Shot, and kill them. Be careful not to hit them when they are electrified. Watch out for when they start to circle around him. Phase 2: Slash his remaining eye until he finally dies. Watch out he is much faster then he used to be, and water will shoot at you. Try to stay in the middle of the room. Dont get caught at a wall, or in a corner. Also try to slash before he starts to roll. Upgraded Boss 2: Dark World Level 1 Boss: Helmasaur King II Upgrade: His weak red mark, now protects an eye rather then being his only weakness. Phase 1: Pull out your Magic Hammer, and smash that Mask of his. It takes about 15 hits with the Magic Hammer to get rid of the Mask. Also, avoid the flame ball that splits into three which all split into three. Phase 2: Pull out your Sword and slash his red mark. 8 slashes to get his mask back. Kill the monsters he spits at you also. Phase 3: Smash the Mask with your Magic Hammer. It once again takes about 15 hits with the Magic Hammer to break his second mask. Don't forget to avoid the Flame Ball that splits into three, then each of the three also split into three. After about 15 hits his mask comes off to reveal an eye. Unlike the first battle in Dark World Level 1 he now has an eye. Pull out your Bow and Silver Arrow, and hit his eye 1 time to kill him. Upgraded Boss 3: Dark World Level 3 Boss: Mothula II Upgrade: Has two clones that split up into hornets to slow you down Phase 1: Mothula has two twins this time. If you hit him he gets hurt. If you hit a twin it splits up into 4 bees. Don't use your Fire Rod like last time, its too hard, and a waste of time, and magic. This time use your Sword, and only your Sword. The bees don't do much damage so ignore them. The twins do no attacks just fly around. Mothula uses 3 fire waves simultaneously. Try to look for him, and attack him. Chances are that the screen is so filled with monsters that you will accidentally hit, and kill him without using a single Blue Potion. Upgraded Boss 4: Dark World Level 4 Boss: Blind the Thief II Upgrade: Now, requires you to knock his heads back into place on his shoulders Phase 1: Talk with his Uncle disguise. Phase 2: Avoid the Laser beams, and Red Bubbles. Slash him 4 times to knock off his head. Phase 3: Hit his blue head back onto his body. Watch out for red bubbles, and lasers. When slashing his head don't get hit by it when it bounces off the wall. Phase 4: Hit him one time, and avoid the laser beam, and red bubbles. Phase 5: Hit his two blue heads back onto his body. Watch out for red bubbles, and lasers. Don't get hit by the heads after slashing them. Phase 6: Slash his head once, and avoid red bubbles, and lasers. Phase 7: Hit his 3 blue heads back onto his body, and avoid the red bubbles, and lasers. Don't get hit by the heads as you slash them into walls, as they bounce back. Boss 5: Green Link, Red Link, Blue Link, Purple Link Phase 1: Green Link: Slash him, avoid his slash, and dash attack. After several hits he will die. Phase 2: Red Link: Slash him, avoid his slash, and dash attack. After several hits he will die as well. Phase 3: Blue Link: Slash him, avoid his slash, dash attack, and sword thrust. Unlike, the previous two Links this one is smarter, faster, and trickier. Slash, him carefully, and after a few hits he will die like the previous two. Phase 4: Purple Link: Slash him, avoid his slash, sword thrust, whirlwind, and sword beam. This Link no longer does the dash attack, as hes smart enough to realize its an easy hit for you to get on him, and he is very fast, and tricky. He will be tough, but after a few hits will die as the three before him did, and you will finish this battle! VII: Walkthrough Walkthrough Part I: Light World Walkthrough How to begin: When you first begin your game you will have to pick out a name for your guy I suggest Link being that, that is his real name not Zelda, as the packaging is misleading; although you can pick anything you want. After picking a suitable name you will move into an excellent intro using full SNES technology. Game Intro Text: Long ago, in Hyrule a beautiful Kingdom surrounded by forests and mountains legends told an omnipotent and omniscient Golden Power that lay hidden. It was hidden in a sacred realm beyond the reach of men, but one day a doorway to that realm was suddenly opened Hoping to claim the Golden Power as their own, the people began to quarrel and fight Many sought to enter the hidden Golden Land But none returned, and instead evil power began to issue forth from the dark portal So the king commanded seven sages to seal the gate to the land of the Golden Power. Many brave knights were lost in the battle to protect the sages from the tides of evil, but the seal was cast! Evil flowed no more! And the seal would remain for all time Or so the people hoped But when these events were obscured by the mists of time, and became legend A mysterious wizard known as Agahnim appeared as from nowhere and with strange magic powers he eliminated the good King of Hyrule He cast spells on the soldiers and kidnapped young maidens descended from the sages in order to break the seal This destiny fast approaches the final maiden the Princess, Zelda Following the intro you will end up sleeping in your house, Zelda will then begin talking telepathically and your uncle will answer the call by grabbing his sword and shield and he will tell you to stay home. (Yes, Zelda is not you, but the person your quest revolves around.) Princess Zelda Telepathic Text: Help me Please help me I am a prisoner in the castle dungeon. My name is Zelda The wizard, Agahnim, has done something terrible to the other girls Now only I remain Agahnim has seized control of the castle and even now is trying to open the sages seal. I am in the dungeon of the castle. Please help me Uncle Text: (Your Name), Im going out for a bit, but theres no need for you to worry. Ill be back by morning, but I dont want you leaving the house until then Go back to bed and wait for me to return. Princess Zelda Telepathic Text: Help me I am in the dungeon of the castle. Somewhere outside the castle you should find a hidden entrance to the palace garden. How to get in the Castle Courtyard: You are not given the choice of not doing anything, so open the chest with the A button to find the lantern, and go south through the South Door. To get to the castle head south onto the dirt path then follow the path east, then north, and finally, west until you come upon the stone bridge with high stone walls next to it which is Hyrule Castle. When you see the guard at the gate head east staying close the outer Castle walls, and then north until you reach a stone circle with a bush in the middle press R to lift and throw the bush, then jump in the hole beneath. Once in the hole head west and talk to your dying uncle, and take his sword and shield. Uncle Text: Unnh That voice (Your Name)? Is it you? I thought I told you to wait at home I suppose theres no escaping destiny Here, take this sword and shield from me. I shall teach you one of the secret sword techniques used by the Knights of Hyrule Hold the B Button to focus power in your blade. Release it to unlease the power. (Your Name)you must rescue Princess Zelda. Our people are fated to do so. But do not fall victim to fate (Your Name) I shall always remember our timetogether Now, that you have gotten the Sword, and Shield, head west, and then south through the door, once through head south up the stairs and through the door. Castle Walkthrough: You are now in the Castle courtyard head south and slash the bushes with B or lift them with R. Soon after follow the main path in the center while avoiding the guards, and enter the castle through its main entrance. Once inside you'll notice two doors on each side of the Entrance Room, and one door at the far north in the castle, one set of doors on each side are on a balcony with stairs going to it along with the door to the north. The other set of doors are on the main floor, these lead to the stairs going to the basement. You are on the 1st Floor. Now go through either one of those to get where we're going next. Both of these doors have hallways leading north and running into a hallway going from left to right. This hallway has a staircase at the center of it; enter the staircase to go the floor below. You are now on B1. Once there defeat the blue guard with your sword using B to get the key, open the chest with either A or R to get the map. Then head south and unlock the South Door with a Small Key by running into the door. You will then end up on a small balcony with guards below it. Make sure the guard is facing the black pit and slash at him causing him to fall off the floor below the balcony. After that, go south through the South Door. Once doing so you'll notice a few statues, pots, and guards, in here you can knock guards off the floor using pots, or by slashing, or you can kill guards with the pots, or by slashing. Mostly just try not to get to hurt. After killing the first two guards head south, and kill the remaining guard, after doing so head west through the West Door. In the next room follow the path into the room, kill the two guards and head north at the far end of the room through the North Door. In here you must kill the guard to get the East Door to open. Once done head east through the now open East Door. In this next room kill the guard to get the key, and open the chest to get the boomerang. After receiving the boomerang head west, and then north opening the locked North Door with the Small Key. In this room simply go north and down the North Stairs to the floor below. You are now on B2. On this floor head west and go down the West Stairs to the floor below. You are now on B3. In this room head south and kill the guard and throw the pots if you need hearts, after doing so head east towards the mace swinger. When fighting the Mace Swinger run towards him slash once run far away to the west to avoid being hit and repeat the process until he finally dies and surrenders the Big Key. After receiving the key open the lock, talk to Princess Zelda, and open the chest if you want. Princess Zelda Text: Thank, you (Your Name). I had a feeling you were getting close. (Your Name), listen carefully. All the soldiers in the castle have fallen under the wizards spell. And I fear even worse has befallen my father That wizard is an inhuman fiend! His powers are strong Do you understand? Yes. Good! We should go quickly before the wizard notices us. I know a secret path, but we must go to the first floor to reach it. Lets go! Now with the Princess following you head west and north out of this room through the North Door, throw the pots if you need to if you didn't already throw all of them before. Now, go north up the North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on B2. Once again on this floor, head north up the North-East Stairs to the floor above. You are now on B1. On this floor, head south and go through the South Door to the next room. In this room, head through the South Door to the next room. In this room head south and go up the stairs onto the balcony. Once on the balcony head east, north, and then east going through the East Door into the next room. In this room head east, and north on the balcony, through the North Door into the next room. In this room head north, and jump off the balcony, after doing so head north, and go through the North Door. In this room, defeat, or run away from the guard, and head north, while going up the North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on the 1st Floor. You will now be on the main floor of the castle, but you can't go outside because the Front Gate is closed. Instead head west, or east and follow either one of the hallways to get back to the Main Entrance Room. Princess Zelda Text: There is a secret passage in the throne room that leads to the sanctuary. Im sure the old man there will help us. We must hurry. Once in the Main Entrance Room, go onto the balcony at the north part of the room. Once on the balcony, go up the North Stairs, at the center of the north wall, to the floor above. You are now on the 2nd Floor. On this floor head north to the throne at the far north. Princess Zelda Text: That ornament shelf should open. Do you have a light? Its pitch-dark inside, and you cant see without one. If youre ready, lets go! We have to push it from the left. Come on! Help me! Once at the throne, go on the left side of the decoration which has two swords, and push it to the east to reveal the North Door. Now, go north through the North Door to arrive in the sewers. Princess Zelda Text: After passing through these sewers, we will be very close to the sanctuary! Lets be careful! The Escape Route: Once in the dark room head north, and then east and go down the North Stairs to the floor below. You are now on the 1st Floor. On this floor, head west, and kill the party of Ropes, and then head north down the North Stairs to the floor below. You are now on B1. On this floor you are indeed in the sewers from here, head east, and open the chest for a Small Key. After receiving the Small Key head north through the North Door, and open the door with the Small Key to arrive in the actual sewers. If you want to not get hurt stay in the water. If you want some rupees slash at the ropes on the dry floor while staying safely in the water. Head west while staying in the water and head through the West Door. In this room head north through the North Door. In this room kill as many mice as you can until you receive a Small Key from one of them, after getting the Small Key, unlock the North Door, and head through the North Door to the next room. In this room head north until you reach a set of blocks, at these blocks go to the middle one, and push it north. Now, head north up the North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on the 1st Floor. On this floor, try to kill some mice, or just dodge them, and head south through the South Door. Princess Zelda Text: The sanctuary is just beyond that door. Pull the switch over there. You have to pull the lever to open the door. Hold the R Button and press down on the control pad. In this room pull the switch on the right side by pressing R button, and pushing down on the control pad. After doing so the door to the south will open up. Now, head south through the South Door, and youll end up in the Sanctuary. Once in the sanctuary, scroll through the dialogue between you, the Sage, and Princess Zelda. Priest Text: Princess Zelda? You are safe! And you are the one who rescued here, (Your Name)? Princess Zelda Text: Its thanks to (Your Name) that I escaped from the dungeon! When I was captive the wizard said, Once I have finished with you, the final one, the sages seal will open. (Your Name), you must not let the land of Hyrule fall into the wizards clutches. If he breaks the seal of the seven sages, a wave of evil power will be unleased. If that happens, the people of Hyrule shall never again know peace Before that happens Before its too late please! You must defeat the wizard before he destroys all of Hyrule! You can You must! Priest Text: I sense that a mighty evil force guides the wizards actions and augments his magical power. The only weapon potent enough to defeat the wizard is the legendary Master Sword but the only person remaining who has any idea of where this blade may be is the village elder. He is said to be a descendant of one of the seven sages. Perhaps he can tell you more. I will mark his house on your map. But we must take care! I am certain the castle soldiers are looking for you and the princess now! The two of you cannot stay together, so I shall hide Princess Zelda here. Do not worry, seek the elder! Do you understand? Yes. Now, open the chest for your first Heart Container out of 11 that your supposed to collect. After receiving the Heart Container head south through the South Door to get outside. How to get to Light World Level 1: Once outside youll notice you are back on the world landscape. This is Hyrule, and is known as the Light World later in the game. From here head south and east, then south and east across the bridge, then south through the sand with dirt mounds all over it then head east, and then north into the old ruins at the far east side of Hyrule. In these ruins head north, and jump into the pit with the small building, and enter the building. Inside you will meet Sahasrahla who tells you to enter the First Level at the North East corner of the ruins and once you find the Pendent of Courage, to bring it back to him, and only then will he tell you more. Sahasrahla Text: I am, indeed, Sahasrahla, the village elder and a descendent of the seven sages. Oh really? I am surprised that one so young is searching for the sword of evils bane, (Your Name). Not just anyone can use that blade. Legends say only the Hero who has won the three Pendents can wield the sword. Do you truly wish to find it? Uh, yeah Of Course! Good! For your first test, can you retrieve the Pendent of Courage from the East Palace? If you bring it here, I shall share more of my knowledge with you. Now, onward to the palace! After listening to Sahasrala's conversation you will need to head to Level 1. First, we must head north up the stairs, then east, then south, and then east. Here go down the stairs and head north and up those stairs. Here go up some more stairs, and then up a final flight of stairs, and go up some stairs and through a door to get inside Light World Level 1. Light World Level 1: As you enter Light World Level 1 you'll notice right away that there are 3 doors. This is the 1st Floor. The door in the middle is the correct door and requires you to lift the vase off the Floor Switch directly in front of it, and then stepping on it. Do so and go through the Middle Door. In this room kill the three enemies, step on the Floor Switch, and then go through the North Door into the next room. In this room youre required to dodge the moving balls, however there isn't any real way of doing this so basically dodge them and stop in small gaps on the walls once your done go to the far left and south then up the stairs for an optional score of rupees. Either way once your ready to leave this room go north up the stairs and through the North Door. You are now in the heart of the dungeon. In this room head to the west side of the room, and go west through the West Door using the Floor Switch next to the West Door to open it. Note: The East Door in this room leads to the Dungeon Map, but its rather useless, and is totally out of the way, so just follow my lead, and leave it behind. In this room head south, and west through the West Door on the opposite side of the room. In this room you must fight 4 skeletons using your boomerang, sword, or the clay pots, once done head north through the North Door. In this room head north, and open the chest to get the Dungeon Compass, after receiving the Dungeon Compass head south, down the stairs, and east through the East Door. In this room you have the option of listening to Sahasrahla on the plaque if you want to. Otherwise head east through the East Door. In this room you'll notice a Big Chest, a Big Key Locked North Door, and many other things, but for now just head east through the East Door. In this room head south, go up the stairs, and head south through the South Door. In this room you'll notice its dark and two spinning enemies are spinning around. You must hit the Floor Switch to the far east of here. Then, go through the East Door nearby, and avoid the enemies if possible. In this next room you'll notice lots of pots and skeletons if your low on health or magic throw some pots, but if you only need the Small Key, throw the pot at the far north east, then head west through the West Door that you came in through. In this previous room head to the far west side of the room, and unlock the West Door, then head west through the West Door to the next room. In this room you will see first off that you are on a ramp above the room with the moving balls. These balls however aren't a problem now, so just ignore them and head west through the West Door. In this room you must kill the two green and red things, the two skeletons, and the green one eyed monster. The two pairs of enemies should be killed with your sword, because you must throw a pot at the Green eyed monster when he is awake at his eye to kill it. Once you've killed them all, throw all the remaining pots while dodging the spinning things, then open the chest that appears to receive the Big Key. After receiving the Big Key head north, unlock that North Door with the Big Key, and head through the North Door to the next room. In this room push the east block to the north, head north, and then east through the East Door to the next room. In this room remember I said to wait until later to do the necessary things, well now that you have the Big Key you must open the Big Chest, and the Locked North. Inside the Big Chest you will receive a Bow and Arrow. Now, open the Locked North Door with your Big Key. Once done head through the now unlocked North door. In this room kill the Green One Eyed Monster to the east for the Small Key, and kill the Small Monsters to clear a path to the two Green One Eyed Monsters. Once done you'll notice theres a West Door, and an East Door. The West Door is where we need to go, but if you want money go through the East Door. Open the West Door with a Small Key, and climb the North Stairs that are revealed to the floor above. You are now on the 2nd Floor. Once upstairs you will notice 4 pots. Throw the Southwest Pot, and hit the Floor Switch to unlock the West Door, once done head west through the West door. In this room you'll notice 3 Green One Eyed Monsters, pull out your Bow and Arrow by going to the item screen, and changing your equipped item to the Bow and Arrow. Now, you must carefully kill the 3 monsters one at a time until theyre all dead. Once theyre all dead step on the South most Floor Switch to open the West Door. Now, head west through the West Door. In this room dodge the balls, and step on the Floor Switch in the northwest part of the room to open the West Door. Once done head west through the West Door. In this room kill the Red One Eyed Monster with two shots of your Bow and Arrow, and head north through the North Door. In this room kill the two Red One Eyed Monsters with two shots of your Bow and Arrow each. Now, head north through the North Door, and ready yourself for the Boss of this level. Now, youre in the Boss Room, and the Boss youre looking at is the Armos Knights. Once the Armos Knights have been killed. Grab the Heart Container that they drop, and then the Pendent of Courage that follows, and listen to the short dialogue. Mental Text to Self: You won the Pendent of Courage! Take it to Sahasrahla! Two Pendants remain! Now, once outside again go down the stairs your on, and jump to the west, then jump to the west again, once, more, and one more time, now head to the edge of Sahasrahla's house, and go north through the North Door of Sahasrala's house. Once inside talk to Sahasrahla and a short dialogue will follow, and you will receive the Pegasus Boots which allow you to dash. Sahasrahla Text: So, you got the Pendent of Courage! Then I shall tell you more of the legend Generations ago, an order of knights protected the Hylian royalty. These Knights of Hyrule were also guardians of the Pendent of Courage. It has been said that whenever disaster waylays the royal family, a Hero shall emerge from the bloodline of the Knights of Hyrule Unfortunatly, most of them were destroyed in the great war against evil that took place when the seven sages created their seal, so it was thought that a hero would never again emerge But lo! I believe you are our hero, (Your Name)! Find the remaining Pendents. And carry this with you. It is a treasure passed down by the families of the sages. I want you to have it. An item that shall aid you is hidden in the cave on the east side of Lake Hylia. Go find it!lkjlj Head outside and soak in the relaxation of receiving your first Pendent because things are going to become more complex in the next level. The truth though, is that Level 2 is more interesting then Level 1. Things to do before Light World Level 2: To the far west is our next destination, and it is in fact Hyrule's only town Kakariko Village, and if you haven't followed my guide perfectly (shame on you!) then you'll have already discovered it. To the south of this town, you'll notice a few small plateaus grouped together. On the top plateau is a building with a book on it. This is the library and it contains a required item needed for Light World Level 2. Go inside and you'll notice a Small Green Book on top of the book shelf in the west side of the room. (It's the only book shelf that doesn't have a barricade in front of it.) Once located ram into the book shelf with the boots Sahasrahla gave you with the R button to knock off the book. This book is now on the floor, and is called The Book of Mudora. It allows you to read ancient Hylien plaques scattered all over Hyrule. The first barricade you will encounter is blocking the entrance to Light World Level 2. This is why you need The Book of Mudora. How to get to Light World Level 2: Now, go outside, and follow the path back to your house, which is pretty straightforward to the east. Once there, head south, and go through the many marshy areas, until you reach a small building with water, this building reveals a heart piece by pulling the switches inside. Grab it if you don't have it. Now, to the west of this building is a small zigzag path with rocks scattered everywhere, go along that and you'll find the desert. Once, in the desert go northwest until you run into a giant plateau with three statues, some staircases and some doors, you'll notice here that you can't read the writing on the plaque, so pull out The Book of Mudora, and try to read the plaque. Plaque Text: To open the way forward Make your wish here And it will be granted. After a very short while you will be able to access Light World Level 2 via a staircase. Light World Level 2: When you enter the doorway, you will come across a huge room with doors leading into other rooms from all sides. This is the Main Room of the first part of the Dungeon. You are now on B1. As you walk through the room be careful to avoid running into the monsters weaving in and out of the sand. Avoid using the Southeast Door, and the Northeast Door, as they are just useless dead-ends. From here you north through either of the Two Middle North Doors, both lead to one big room which contains a Floor Switch under the North Middle jar which reveals a chest between two torches containing the Dungeon Map. Grab the Dungeon Map, and go south through either of the South Doors. Once back out in the Main room go North through the North-Northwest Door, or just left of the room containing the Dungeon Map. This room has a Laser Shooting Statue, and a Small Key resting atop a torch. Run into the torch with your Pegasus Boots by clicking R to knock down the Small Key. Now, go south through the South Door, to get back to the Main Room. Now, that you have the Small Key, travel to the East Door at the far side of this Main Room, and unlock it with the Small Key. Now, go east through the East Door. Inside this room is a chest, open it to receive the Dungeon Compass. Now, kill all the monsters except the statue, and travel north through the North Door that just opened up. In this new room you will see metal balls flying back and forth across the room. Try to weave around them, and then open the chest at the far side of the room to receive the Big Key. Now, weave back and travel south through the South Door. In this room, head east through the East Door to get back into the Main Room. Now, that youre in the Main Room again, go west through the West-Northwest Door. This room should contain a Laser Shooting Statue in the center with pots all around it. Lift up the Northwest jar to find a Floor Switch. Step on it to open the North Door. This room contains the Big Chest. Open the Big Chest with your Big Key to find the Power Gloves. Now, head back south through the South Door. In this room step on the Northwest Floor Switch to open the East Door. Now, head east through the East Door. Now, that you are in the Main Room again, head west through the Southwest Door. This room contains a South Door leading outside. Head outside, and you will appear on a large plateau above the Main Entrance to the Dungeon. You have two options head to the far south of the platform to receive a Heart Piece, or head north to continue the dungeon. To continue the dungeon head north to the grassy area with rocks surrounding a door. Pick up the rocks with R using your new gloves, and head north through the North Door. You are now on the 1st Floor. Now, that you are on the First Floor of the dungeon head to the 3 block formation to the east, and push the Middle Block south to open the North Door. Now, head north through the North Door. In this room throw the Southwest most jar to receive a Small Key, then dodge the moving tiles to open the North Door, which reveals the North Stairs. Then, head up the North Stairs to the Second Floor. Concerning the moving tiles you can hide in the door until they stop moving. You are now on the 2nd Floor. In this new room, head south through the South Door. In this room you will see a Laser Shooting Statue, and 3 monsters. Kill all three monsters, and head through the East Door. In this room be extremely careful to avoid the lasers of the three Statues, and the monsters running around. The goal is to get the Small Key from under the middle jar from the small line of jars in the middle of the room, and unlock the North Door. One way to get through is by avoiding all enemies. Another way to get through is to beat the monsters, and dodge lasers. The second method is good if you want to protect a few hearts, but it is also a little bit slower going. When youre done head north through the North Door. In this new room there are moving tiles, a Locked North Door, and a Small Key under the Northeast Jar. Throw the Northeast Jar, and unlock the North Door. In this new room, pull out your Bow and Arrow, and shoot two arrows at the Red One Eyed Monster by walking close to him, and throw jars to gains a few hearts if you need them. Now, light all four torches with your Lamp to reveal the North Door that leads to the Dungeon Boss Room. Unlock the North Door, and head north through the North Door into the Dungeon Boss Room. Now, you are in the Dungeon Boss Room prepare yourself for your Second Dungeon Boss Battle. Mental Text to Self: You won the Pendent of Power! Your goal of finding all three Pendents is in sight! Go for the last one! How to get to Light World Level 3: Now, head south to the edge of the plateau and jump off. From here, head to the far east to exit the desert. Now, that youre out of the desert, head north through the swamp land, and travel north to Links house. North of Links House is the Castle, and north of that is the Chapel. Finally, north of the Chapel is Death Mountain, which has a few rocks blocking a tunnel entrance which takes you up Death Mountain where you will meet an old man. Starting at the cave entrance, jump off the ledge. Now, head north until you reach a fork. At the fork head east, at the next fork head south. When you reach the next fork head north. Now, head over to the old man, and he will talk to you. Old Man Text: I dont know who you are, but if you are going to go up the mountain, will you take me with you? I lost my lamp, so Now, with the old man head through the East Door. Old Man Text: Uhhh Watch you step. There are holes in the ground. Could you turn right here? Young man, are you also going to the mountain to look for the Golden Power? Just ahead is a mountain full of monsters. Many people have vanished in this mountain while looking for the Golden Power. I dont want to steer you wrong, so please dont get too involved in such a mad quest. In this room head east while avoiding the hole, when you reach a fork continue going east. Old Man Text: Uhh Turn right here You know, I have a granddaughter who is your age The king took her to the castle and she never returned. Kidnapping those maidens must be part of the wizards plot! Im sure he is trying somehow to use the power of the descendents of the seven sages Now at this new fork head south, then at the next fork head west, then go south through the South Door to get outside. Now, take the old man east until he goes in his cave, and he will begin to talk to you, and will give you an explanation on the Magic Mirror, and then will give it to you. Old Man Text: The missing maidens are still alive somewhere. I believe that a Hero will rescue them I wait for that day Uhh These are dangerous times Ive talked too much. Anyway Thank you for being kind to an old man like me. Uhh I wanted to give you this. If you wander into a magical transporter, gaze into this mirror. Now, go north in his cave to travel to the East Door. Now, go east through the East Door. In this new room head south, then southeast, then east, then north, and finally travel east through the East Door. Now, that you've gone through the East Door head east, then southeast, then east and south through the South Door to get outside. You are now outside, and have avoided losing some health, from here head west, and then northwest, then travel north up the stairs. Once up the stairs head east, then south east, then east, then northeast, then east into the Warp Tile. You have now entered the Dark World, but until you receive the Moon Pearl from the Tower of Hera, which is Light World Level 3, you can't be a person, only a bunny. From here its pretty straightforward, just head west until you reach two circles that look like a Video Game Controller, with two guys fighting on them, and use your Magic Mirror to warp back to the Light World. You have now entered the Light World once again, and are on top of the plateau. Now, grab the Heart Piece next to you, and jump off the north side to get to The Tower of Hera which is Light World Level 3. Light World Level 3 is to the northeast of here. Now, climb up the stairs and ready yourself for Light World Level 3. Light World Level 3: You are now on the 2nd Floor. Okay slash the Crystal Switch to make it blue. This will make the Blue Barriers collapse. Good, now that you've done that, head west down the Southwest Stairs directly to your left to the floor below. You are now on the 1st Floor. Down here the goal is to get the Small Key, killing the monsters isn't necessary but with the pink skeleton be careful because if you try to hurt it, it will toss a bone at you, with it just get really close, slash manically, and it will die. Otherwise you can kill it with your boomerang. Now head north up the North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on the 2nd Floor. Once upstairs, hit the Crystal Switch to your east to make it red. This will collapse the Red Barriers in your way to the north. At the north of the room open the chest to receive the Dungeon Map. At the northwest part of the room is the Locked Northwest Door, open it with your Small Key to reveal the Northwest Stairs. Now, go north down the Northwest Stairs to the floor below. You are now on the 1st Floor. Now that you've made it downstairs, prepare yourself for a battle against the flying tiles. Basically just slash constantly in a space between two jars and slash non stop, until they are all gone. Now, hit the Crystal Switch to make it blue. Now, the Blue Barriers will fall out of your way. Now, go east through the East Door. Now that you've made it to this room, avoid or kill all the monsters, and hit the Crystal Switch to make it red. This will Collapse the Red Barriers to your south, which will gain you access to the South Door. Now, head south through the South Door. In this room kill both skeleton's, or avoid them, and light the four torches with your Lamp. Once all four are lit, open the chest to find the Big Key. Now, head north through the North door. There is nothing in this room except the Crystal Switch. Before you head west through the West Door, make sure to hit the Crystal Switch to make it blue. Now, that you have hit the Crystal Switch go west through the West Door. There is no longer anything to do in this room other than slashing the Crystal Switch just like in the previous room. Slash the Crystal Switch once, to make it red. Now, go north up the North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on the 2nd Floor. Now that you are back on the main floor, head south, then southwest, and up the Southwest Stairs to the floor above. You are now on the 3rd Floor. In this room you have to fend off three jelly monsters. Simply put yourself in a corner, and slash, or try to knock them in the holes. Once all of them are dead, travel west through the now open West Door. In this new room kill off the 3 jelly monsters, and then step on the Star Switches until there is flat floor that can we walked over to reach the North Door. Now, open the North Door with your Big Key, and go north through the North Door. In this room you will be faced against several jelly monsters so sit back, and slash. Once you have killed them off, travel east, and slash the Crystal Switch to make it blue. This should collapse the Blue Barriers blocking the North Stairs. Now, head north up the North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on the 4th Floor. When you've gone upstairs make sure that you slash over the metal pipes, and kill off the monsters before you throw the pots. Once all 3 monsters are dead, throw the pots, and head west. In the middle of the room open the chest to receive the Dungeon Compass. Now, kill the fire breathing monsters, and head north up the Northwest Stairs to the floor above. You are now on the 5th Floor. Once upstairs head south, and hit the Star Switch while avoiding the fire rope, now kill off all the jelly monsters, and pick up pots in the pot formation to heal health if needed, and if there is a raised wall around them either back track, and hit an orb, or ignore the pots. Now, jump down the hole in the middle of the room to the floor below. You are now on the 4th Floor. You will land right next to the Big Chest. Open it to receive the Moon Pearl. Now, hit the Star Switch to the south to gain a chunk of floor to walk on, and head south, and then west, and go north up the North Stairs back to the floor above. You are now on the 5th Floor. Now that your on the 5th Floor again, head east past the pot formation, break a few if you are short any health, and go north up the North Stairs to the floor above, which is also the top floor. You are now on the 6th Floor. Unlike previous Boss Rooms you can take as long a look at the Dungeon Boss before you fight him as you want, because you have to jump onto the Platform he is on. Up here you will hear the all too familiar boss theme. To fight the boss jump onto the platform in the middle of the room, and get ready for your third Boss Battle. Mental Text To Self: You won the Pendent of Wisdom! With this, youve collected all three Pendents! Go now to the Lost Woods to get the Master Sword! How to get the Master Sword: Once outside jump off the south ledge, when you've done so, go west, and then down the stairs to the cave right next to you, which will take you to the bottom of Death Mountain so enter it. Once inside the cave head north, then northwest around the hole. Now, head north around another hole, and west avoiding that hole once again. Continue going west while avoiding another hole to the north. Now, west head through the West Door. Now, head southwest for a short while avoiding all the holes, finally travel south through the South Door which leads outside. Once outside travel south, past the small lake, and head west until you reach the fortune tellers house. Now, head north through the arch in-between the trees to the north, to enter the forest. Once in the forest, head north then northwest until you reach a house. From here, travel north through the left log, then travel west from there, and north through the North Log. Once here travel west, and south through the South Log. Now, head west, and north through the North Log. You are now in the forest clearing where the Master Sword is located. Travel north, and read The Book of Mudora at the Shrine on the Shrine. Master Sword Shrine Text: The Heros triump on Cataclysms Eve wins three symbols of virtue. The Master Sword he retrieves, keeping the Knights line true. Now, go to the back of the shrine, and press R to lift the Master Sword out of the Shrine. Sahasrahla Text: Sahasrahlas voice echoes from the void (Your Name), you have done well to obtain the evil-banishing blade, the Master Sword The power that shines in it is now yours to wield! With it, you should be able to thwart the magic of the evil wizard Agahnim. The destiny of this land is in your hands. Please, (Your Name) Once youre wielding the Master Sword head south, through the south log. Princess Zelda Telepathic Text: (Your Name)! Help! The soldiers are coming to the Sanctuary! AIEEEEEEE! Now, head south through the South Log, avoid the bandit, travel through the left most log, continue south, until you reach two trees that seem to block the path, and head south between them. Now head south, and you'll end up at the north end of Kakariko Village. Required and Optional Items: This section shows items, and upgrades that are very helpful in the Castle Level Revisted, and later in the game, but are easier to get now rather then later. Bombs: (Required) Find them in Kakariko Village for free, or for sale. Magic Bottles: (Optional) Bottle 1: Buy from Bottle Salesman for 100 rupees in the center of Kakariko Village. Bottle 2: Find in Kakariko Village in the back of the Bar at the Southeastern building through the back door, in a chest. Bottle 3: Find under a bridge to the southeast of the Hyrule Castle. Its under the bridge directly east of Links House. Bug Catching Net: (Optional) Found with a sick kid in KakarikoVillage inside one of the houses. This item is VERY HELPFUL in the Castle Revisited, and isnt very hard to get. Ice Rod: (Required) Found in Southeast cave on the far side of Lake Hylia, after bombing a cracked wall to the west of a Cave Entrance. Magic Powder: (Optional) Find a mushroom in the northwest part of the woods, give it to witch, and pick up the Magic Powder later, from inside the Witchs Hut. Flippers: (Required) Pay 500 rupees to the Big Octorock in the Zora Falls, in the Northeast corner of Hyrule past the Witchs Hut. Note: For Magic Shield and Magic Boomerang you need Flippers. Magic Boomerang: (Optional) Go past the Witchs Hut right before the Waterfalls of Wishing. Swim through the one waterfall, and throw your Boomerang into the small pond with a metal pipe surrounding it. The Magic Boomerang may be optional, but it is unbelievably useful levels, such as the Castle Level Revisited. Magic Shield: (Optional) Do all the same stuff as Magic Boomerang, except throw your shield into the pond from inside the Waterfall. Ether Medallion: (Required) Go back to Light World Level 3, you just finished it so it shouldn't be too hard to go back. Now, go west of the Tower of Hera, which is Light World Level 3. Go across a wood plank bridge to a rock tablet. If you have your Master Sword, use the Book of Mudora on it, and you will receive the Ether Medallion. Bombs and Arrows Capacity Expansions: (Optional) Go to the Level 1 Ruins, and head south to Lake Hylia. If you have the flippers jump in, and swim to the island in the center, climb onto it. Go inside the cave located on the island. At the edge of the cave inside, is a small pool, or pond. When it asks you to throw rupees, do so. Every 100 rupees you throw calls up a fairy, and she asks if you want an Arrow Upgrade, or Bomb Upgrade. Bombs can be upgraded from 10 to a maximum of 50. Arrows can be upgraded from 30 to a maximum of 70. It takes 700 rupees to fully Max out one of the two. To fully Max out both it takes 1,400 rupees. That means it takes more then one full wallet of rupees, which implies more then one trip to the Island to fully upgrade your Bombs, and Arrows Capacities. You may think this a waste of time, but I assure you that it is invaluable throughout the game, and is well worth your time. The bombs are even more helpful to be upgraded. Arrows dont need to be more then 30, but bombs defiantly need to be more then 10. How to get to the Castle: From Kakariko Village, head south, and then east to Link's house. From Link's House travel north to the all to familiar, Hyrule Castle. A thing to consider before going inside is whether or not you want to grab fairies, I would advise you to take some fairies, because they are key to survival in the Castle Tower. To get fairies, go to Link's house. To the northwest of it, is a giant rock surrounded by many trees, lift the rock, to reveal stairs. Walk down the stairs to reach a fairy fountain containing 4 fairies that will come back every time you leave the cave. To capture a fairy you need a Bottle and a Bug Catching Net. Swing the Bug Catching Net to capture the fairy and, it will heal you whenever you die, so don't worry if you have one. Having more then one means you will be revived again after using up the first fairy, and dieing again. Castle Level Revisited: Inside will be the familiar site of the castle where you rescued Princess Zelda at the beginning of the game. Go north along the walkway, and go north through the Castle Entrance. Castle Inside: Once inside, we need to get to the Castle Tower, to get to the castle tower you need to pick either the right door, or the left door. From either door you need to go south and head up stairs to reach the second floor. You are now on the 2nd Floor. Now, that you are on the second floor, head south through the South Door to get outside onto the roof. Now that you are on the roof, head to the center of the roof arrive at the Middle Door that is between the two doors you walked through to get to the roof. This door is blocked by an Electric Barrier with a bat type thing. Slash the bat thing to destroy the electric barrier blocking the door. Now, go through the Middle Door to begin ascent of the Castle Tower. Castle Tower: Okay, now that we are in the Castle Tower we need to keep in mind that we are on the 2nd Floor, and we need to reach the 7th Floor to be able to fight Agahnim the evil wizard who kidnapped Princess Zelda. Our goal is to reach the top, kill Agahnim, and re-rescue Princess Zelda. First, travel north through the North Door into the next room. In this room we must kill two mace knights, whom we killed one of in the first rescue as a sort of boss. The difference now, is that all we need to do is use the Sword Beam to kill them from a safe distance, or kill them hand to hand with the Sword like before, but I would highly discourage doing that, because it will get you hurt, and that isnt good this early on. Simply slash repetitively if you have full health. Once they have been killed travel east through the East Door. In this room dont move, and begin using the sword beam to kill the two knights, and open the chest to get the Small Key. Now, head north through the North Door, and up the North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on the 3rd Floor. On this floor use the Sword beam to kill the knights, and travel west through the West Door. In this room although it may seem hard with a lot of enemies, and total darkness hiding them, do not fret, because they are all barred off. That being said once again, use your Sword Beam to kill as many as you can, then lift pots to restore health, and as weapons if necessary. Open the chest to the west of you to receive a Small Key. Now, open the East Door, and go east through the East Door to the next room. In this room use the Sword Beam on the enemies, if you still have full health. Is this getting old? Trust me its necessary, and the easiest, and fastest way to get through this place. Now, travel north, up the North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on the 4th Floor. Once, upstairs, use the Sword Beam to kill the Knight, and Archer. Now, travel west through the West Door. In this room watch your step, and be sure to use the Sword Beam whenever you see, or hear guards nearby. In the northwest corner move the block to open the East Door. Now, travel east through the East Door. This room has 2 archers, and a knight at all angles so be cautious, and don't worry if you get hit because there are so many pots scattered around that can heal you inside the tower. Now, collect the Small Key, and head north up the North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on the 5th Floor. This room is very tricky so be careful, hide behind statues, and listen to the plaque if you need help. When the enemies throw their spears, make sure your shield is centered with the flying spears so that you don't get hurt. Once the knights, and bats are dead, travel west through the West Door. Once again use your shield to protect yourself, and make sure to not to get hit. Once, the two spear soldiers are dead, head south through the South Door. This room should be a quick relieve after some of the previous rooms. Kill the bats, and throw pots over the metal walls to kill the spear soldier. Now, throw all the remaining pots to find the Small Key, and to recover any lost health. Now, head east through the East Door. If you arrive in this room without full health it will be very tricky, and will require careful maneuvers, and attacks. With full health all you need to do is use your Sword Beam, and shield. Also try to keep a safe distance from all 3 knights. My advice is to aim for the spear, and sword knights first, since they are faster. Kill the mace knight last. Once they are all defeated travel north up the North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on the 6th Floor. Once, upstairs, make a careful approach, push the West Statue to the west, and be cautious around the enemies, mainly the Bow and Arrow equipped knights. Once you've killed all 3 knights, head west through the West Door. This room is just a narrow walkway heading north, so use your Sword Beam if you have full health still. Otherwise use great caution. A great strategy is to slowly walk east to lure the guards attention, which will cause him to jump off the walkway. The second guard will have to be lured south to the safe area without a small walkway, and then killed, or knocked off the ledge. Once, both guards are dead, head north up the North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on the 7th Floor. This floor doesnt contain much of anything. This room is empty, and is directly before confronting Agahnim, and Princess Zelda. Once you are ready go north through the North Door. In this room talk to Aghanim and witness the teleportation of Princess Zelda to the Dark World. Agahnim Text: Aha (Your Name)! I have been waiting for you! Heh heh heh I thought I would make Zelda vanish before you. Behold! Princess Zeldas final breath! Ho ho ho With this, the seal of the seven sages is at last broken. It is now only a matter of time before evil power covers this land completely After all, the legendary Hero cannot defeat us, the tribe of evil, when we are armed with the Power of Gold. Ho ho ho Now, I must go! Once Princess Zelda disappears, and Agahnim moves to the next room, head around the pedestal to the Middle Curtain, and slash it with your Sword to reveal a The North Door. Now, head through the North Door to fight the Castle Dungeon Boss Battle with Agahnim. Now, you should hear the familiar boss theme. Agahnim Text: Ho ho! You seem to want me to finish you off! Then allow me to make your wish come true! Agahnim Text: Grrrrugh! Well met, Hero! But I am not ready to admit defeat yet I will draw you into the Dark World! Once Agahnim is defeated, he will draw you into the Dark World onto the Pyramid of Power. Once on the Pyramid of Power, Sahasrahla will begin talking to you about your Adventure. Sahasrahla Telepathic Text: (Your Name), it is I, Sahasrahla. I am communicating with you across the void through telepathy The place where you now stand was the Golden Land, but evil power turned it into the Dark World. The wizard has broken the sages seal and turned the gate to Hyrule Castle into a portal linking that world to this. In order to save this half of the world, the Light World, you must win back the Golden Power. You must also rescue the seven maidens who Agahnim sent to the Dark World. As descendents of the seven sages, they have power that will surely aid you. The maidens are locked in hidden dungeons full of evil creatures and dangerous traps. The Palace of Darkness should be your first goal in this world! (Your Name), you are our last hope. Please make this old mans wishes come true. I beg you! This is the end of the ALTTP Walkthrough Part I: Light World Walkthrough. Continue reading the Walkthrough in ALTTP Walkthrough Part II: Dark World Walkthrough. ALTTP Walkthrough Part II: Dark World Walkthrough Getting to Dark World Level 1: Okay, we are on the top of the Pyramid of Power, a seemingly unimportant place to dump Link off into the shadows. This place, however, has much more importance later in the game. For now it only holds a Piece of Heart. To start off go down a flight off stairs, and jump off two platforms after that. Finally, head down a large flight of stairs. Once on the ground, head east across a land bridge. You are now walking in a field of hills, anyways head south, and then northeast into the ruins. The ruins are very different looking then in the Light World, and much harder to navigate. To start off head east along the dirt path, until you see a white arrow pointing north into a bush. Once you see the arrow, head north into the bush that its pointing at. To get through, go north until you cant go any further, then go west, and turn north once again, this should head out of the bush. Once out of the bush, follow the second white arrow north, and head west around the back side of the building, until you reach a huge shrub with a hole in it, and a small shrub with a path through it to the west of it. Stop, and continue west into the small shrub to the west of the larger shrub, and head west through it to get to a small pathway to the west. From here, head north until you see another hole in the large bush on its northwest corner. Head in, and go east all the way through it. If you do it right a blue monkey will be following you. Kiki The Monkey Text: Im Kiki the monkey, ki ki! I love Rupees more than anything. Can you spare me 10 Rupees? What will you do? Give him 10 rupees. Never give him anything. Ki ki ki ki! Good choice! I will accompany you for a while. Kik ki ki! Pay him 10 rupees and he will follow you, which is vital for the beating of ALTTP. From here, head north through the small bush. Then, east through another small bush nearby. You will see a multicolored path follow it east, and head north through a small bush to come upon a large building. Be sure to walk up the stairs, which will activate a conversation with the monkey. Kiki The Monkey Text: Ki ki ki! If you give me 100 rupees, I will open the entrance for you. Kik ki ki! What will you do? Ask him to open it. Try to open it yourself. Ki ki! Good choice! Then I get 100 of your Rupees. Kik ki ki! Pay him 100 rupees and he will open the building which is Dark World Level 1. Now, that Dark World Level 1 is open, save, and walk north through the North Door into Dark World Level 1. Dark World Level 1: You are now on the 1st Floor. From the entrance of this level head east to the East Door, make sure you step on the Floor Switch on the way there, to open the East Door. Once the East Door is open, head east through the East Door. In this room there will be a brown ball with a head that will try to kill you. Hit it with a pot to get it out of the way. Now, that it can't hurt you, head north down the North Stairs to the floor below. You are now on Basement Floor 1. This room requires you to step on the warp panel, so do so, and you will warp to another room. In this room go south, and plant a bomb on the cracked wall to the South. Now, go south though the South Door into the next room. In this hallway you will find 3 green jellyfish, which you must slash when they stop electrocuting themselves. Once they are dead plant a bomb on the cracked wall at the other end of the hallway, on the Northwest Wall. Now, go north through the Northwest Door. This room can be tricky, but all you have to do is walk the enemies into your flying arrows from your bow, because they follow youre every move, so move them into position, and fire away. The green enemies can be killed with youre sword, the red enemies need 2 shots from youre bow to die. Once, they are dead head north through the North Door. In this room you need to head quickly north up the path while avoiding the moving spikes, try to slash green and red jelly's out of your way too. Once, all the way across the path head north up the North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on the 1st Floor. In this room, open the chest to receive the Dungeon Map, slash all the red jelly's to get supplies if needed, break all the skulls for more supplies if needed, and bomb the walls on either sides to get a Small Key through the West Door, and fairies through the East Door if needed. Once, you have gotten the Small Key, supplies if needed, and fairies if needed, head back south down the South Stairs to the floor below. You are now on Basement Floor 1. You will once again have to dodge spikes, and slash jelly's out of your way so do so, and head south through the South Door. In this room head south through the South Door. Once, in this hallway just head east, and north through the North Door. Now, move the middle block east, or west, and step on the warp panel to warp back to the first warp room. Once, back in the first warp room head north up the North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on the 1st Floor. Now, that you are on the first floor again, head south and throw a pot at the green, brown enemy, or avoid him, but toss the pot off the Northeast Floor Switch, and step on it to open the South Door. Now, head south through the South Door. Okay, now that we are at the front entrance room we need to head west through the West Door. Step on either of the two floor switchs to open up both the West, and East Doors. Now, head west through the West Door, without stepping on either floor switchs. Now, you will see the same room you saw from the East Door, but you are now in the far west area of it, and metal beams block access to the area you went to earlier. Hit, or avoid the green-brown enemy, and head north down the North Stairs to the floor below. You are now on Basement Floor 1. In this room you will see two flame statues in the center of the room make sure to avoid their beams, at all costs. Lift the pot at the southwest corner to reveal a floor switch underneath. Step on it to reveal a chest in the southeast corner, open the chest to get a second Small Key. Now, head north up the North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on the 1st Floor. Once, up here again make sure to step on the floor switch under the northwest pot, after removing it, to open the South Door. Now, head south through the South Door. You are now once again in the main entrance room but, you have now narrowed the exploration to the North Door. With this in mind, head north through the North Door. Head north, and walk into the North Door to unlock it with one of youre two Small Keys. Now, head north through the North Door. In this room head northwest to the West Bridge, and place a bomb on the cracks. Now, jump into the hole that is revealed to the floor below. You are now on Basement Floor 1. Once, you land on the ground, head north, and unlock the North Door to reveal the North Stairs. Now, head north up the North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on the 1st Floor. From here head south, and open the chest to receive the Big Key. Now, jump east, off the platform to the floor below. You are now on Basement Floor 1. Now, that youre back down here again, lift the skull to the west of a whole row of stone bricks to reveal a floor switch, step on it, to reveal a chest, open the chest to receive a Small Key. Now, lift all the skulls surrounding the warp panel, and step into it. This should warp back to the first warp room. You are now once again in the first warp room. Head, north up the North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on 1st Floor. In this room once again step on floor switch under the northeast skull, to open the south door. Now, head south through the South Door. Okay, you are once again at the entrance room, and once again you need to head north through the North Door. In this room head north through the North Door. From the South Door of this room, head northeast to the East Bridge. Go north all the way to the bricks, and push the east one off. Now, continue to the far north side of the bridge. Now, head north through the North Door. In this room open the chest for a third Small Key, and jump off the north end of this ramp, to land on the other side of the room. As of now the paths to the west, east are blocked with blue spikes, so head north up the stairs to the north end of this room. Now, go west, try to kill the blue enemies to prevent yourself from dieing, or falling off the floor. From here, head all the way to the west end of the walkway, and open the Northwest Door. Now, head north through the Northwest Door. In this room lift the skulls, and run north along the path with your Pegasus boots, and don't worry about the enemies, because they will most likely get slashed by youre automatic Pegasus Sword Wielding, as you run by. At the north end of the path, lift the skulls, and open the West Door. Now head west through the West Door. In this room slash all the fire breathing enemies before they hit you, and open the northwest chest for 3 bombs if needed, and open the Southeast Chest for the Fourth Small Key. From the Southeast Chest, head north to a cracked wall, on the east wall, bomb it to reveal the Southeast Door. Now, head east through the Southeast Door. In the next room open the large chest to receive the Magic Hammer. Now, head west into the previous room. In here head north, and go east through the Northeast Door. Now, that youre in the disappearing catwalk room head east through the East Door. In this room pull out your Magic Hammer, and pound it to knock the turtle's onto their backs. Now, slash them before they get back up. Once they die, open the chest to receive the Dungeon Compass. From here head north down the Northeast Stairs, or the Northwest Stairs to the floor below. You are now on Basement Level 1. Down here head south, while avoiding the magic stars, and open the east chest receive youre fifth Small Key. Grab the blue rupees if you like, but it isn't really worth it. Open the west chest to the west of you if needed, to receive some arrows. Now, head north, up the North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on 1st Floor. Once, back upstairs head south through the South Door. Once, in here open the chest to west to receive 5 rupees if you want them, but otherwise just head south, though the South Door, while avoiding spikes. Once, back in this room head to the center of the room, and jump south off the ramp in the direction of the arrow, to the middle platform. A good tip is to lure them away from the landing area on the middle platform before jumping. Make sure not to touch the enemies, but do defend yourself, by slashing them, you can always use youre sword beam to kill them long distance. Once, they are dead, hit the Crystal Switch to the south of you with your boomerang, or your bow. It will take down the blue barricades, and put up red barricades elsewhere. Now, head east from here through the now accessible East Door. In here lift all the skulls, to receive most likely needed supplies, such as hearts, and arrows. Now, move the northeast most statue onto the top northeast floor switch to the east of the North Door. Once, youve done this, walk north through the, now open, North Door. In this room shoot your arrows, and walk the enemies into the line of fire of your bow, and arrow, but kill the green enemies with your sword first to get the red enemy alone. Once, they are all dead head north through the North Door. Now, you're in a room full of spikes, barricades, and crystals. First, avoid the spike, and head north, to the crystal switch. Now, slash the crystal to remove the Red Barricade to the east of you. Once, you have gotten past the Red Barricade move directly in front of the green statue, and shoot an arrow into the statues eye. The wall will then move out considerably far, to the east, eventually revealing a staircase. Go down this East Staircase to the floor below. You are now on Basement Floor 1. Down here you will have to hit turtles with your Magic Hammer, and also hit the Pegs. After defeating all the turtles, hit the Crystal Switch once to knock down the Red Barricade, then walk west beyond the fallen Red Barricade, and throw your boomerang, or fire an arrow at the Crystal Switch to pull the Red Barrier back up, and push the Blue Barrier back down. A sword beam will also do the job. Now, you should have access to the locked West Door. Now, open the West Door, and head west through it. You are now traveling north along a small corridor keep your hammer at your fingertips to kill the turtle, before it touches you. The room beyond is very challenging. Continue to use your hammer if two, or more turtles get too close to you. Slash constantly if you are in no immediate danger. Once, the turtles are all gone head east, through the East Door. This room is easy, as it has no enemies. All you have to do is go to the Northeast Block right above the east torch, and move it west. Once, you have done this, step onto the warp panel to warp to a different room. In here you are on a once inaccessible walkway with four turtles in two pairs patrolling it. Use your Magic Hammer to take them out, then open the North Boss Door with your Big Key, and head north through the North Door to challenge the boss of the Dark World Level 1. After he is defeated grab the Heart Container, and grab the crystal. Maiden Text: (Your Name), because of you, Ive escaped from the clutches of the evil monsters. Thank you! This world was once the Golden Land where the Triforce was hidden. But because of Ganon, the leader of the thieves, wished it, this world was transformed Im sure hes intending to conquer even our Light World after building his power here. His hope is to use us maidens and the power of the sages that has been passed on to us as the key to open a larger gate between the worlds near Hyrule Castle. But the gate is not completely open yet There is still time. Together, we seven maidens can break the barrier that protects Ganons hiding place. I can tell you where the other girls are held. I believe you will destroy Ganon. I will return to my original form at that time. Do you understand? Yes. Not at all. May the way of the Hero lead to the Triforce. Dark World Level Explanation (Optional Alternate Route): This is not a level walkthrough! This is simply an explanation for the levels ahead! Dark World Levels 2-7 can be played in almost any order. My most messed up order was 1,4,2,6,3,7,5. In this order you dont have to half finish a level, and then come back later. You can fully beat each level in that order. The truth is most people go into a level grab the dungeon item, don't fight the boss, and do another level only to come back later to beat this level that their leaving unfinished. My plan was thought out perfectly and worked well without leaving unfinished levels. For example doing level 4 directly after level 2, or level 3 makes perfect sense, because level 3 is much harder then level 4, and longer at that. Level 2 allows for another travel method in the Dark World with the Hook Shot, but Level 4 gives a better item, and is a very easy level, as well as shorter then the other levels before it. The item in level 4 is even more important then the item in level 3, and a bit more important then the item in Level 2, and helps make travel to level 3 easier in addition to travel around the entire Dark World. The neat trick that allows you to skip level 2, and level 3, and go directly to level 4 is that you have to go to the Southeast Entrance to the Woods in the Light World, and go to the back side of the clearing to the east of this one, you can hit down pegs with you Magic Hammer, and lift the small white rock to reveal a warp tile. The front of this clearing is guarded by a huge black rock, so that cant be done from the front. With that tile you end up in the Thieves Town, and can open Dark World Level 4 by pulling the trident away from the statue in the middle of town. To be helpful Im covering all levels straight through, but you can skip all around between all the different parts if you want. I suggest doing this when youre comfortable with the game, and want some challenge, or new excitement. This might not be something youll do on your first try, while reading a Walkthrough, but keep it in mind for future times playing this game. Path to Dark World Level 2: Now that you are outside head south weaving in, and out of big, and small bushes. If you get stuck examine the bushes more closely, and you will see holes and small trails on top which are dead giveaway of where to go. Anyways incase you are really stuck I'll give a short summary walk through the bushes. Head south through small bush, head west, go south through small bush, head west through small bush, head west, head west through large bush, come out northwest corner, head west through small bush, head south, head east through small bush, head east past back of building, head south past east side of building, head south through medium size bush, head south to rock face, head west along rock face, Head south out of this area. From here head west into another area with large stone statues, and pig soldiers, with a small dock at the waters edge. In between the statues lies 3x3 purple poles blocking your way. Hit these 9 purple poles with your Magic Hammer to clear the way. Continue heading south, and then west onto the next screen. From here head west until you reach the platform in the center that looks identical to Links House in the Light World stop right in front of it, because Level 2 is only a few screens south of here. Links House is the bomb shop in the Dark World, and is cleverly placed where Link's House is in the Light World. If for some reason you are missing some hearts warp back to the Light World with your mirror. Doing this will take you to Link's House, and it contains 3 hearts every time you go inside, but the warp point left from your mirror will still be there, so keep that in mind when warping between worlds. Any ways, as said before, Dark World Level 2 is south of where we currently are, so head south into the Marshes. You should now be in the marshes. From here continue heading south onto the next screen of the Marshes. On this screen you will need to head west into the next screen. In the middle of this screen you will see a stone building that has an exact duplicate of itself in the same place in the Light World. Climb onto the stone step of this building, and warp to the Light World with your Magic Mirror. Once, you appear in the Light World walk inside the building. When you come inside, push the middle block north, against the chest, and either of the side blocks west, or east, away from the chest, the West Block pushed west, and the East Block pushed east. Now, go north through the North Door. In here avoid the magic spike, and pull the East Switch in a southern direction. This will drain the marsh. Now, head south, through the South Door. Once, you have arrived here, head south, through the South Door in this room. Now, that you have arrived outside, step into the warp to get back into the Dark World. Now, head north through the North Door into Dark World Level 2! Dark World Level 2: Were in Dark World Level 2, and the water problem is no longer a problem. First, head to the broken stairs by swimming, and climb them. Now, avoid the spike, and kill the 3 water spiders, and a chest will appear. From here, head north, and open the chest for a Small Key. This is your first Small Key of many. Use the Small Key, on the locked North Door. Now, head north down the North Stairs to the floor below. You are now on Basement Floor 1. In here head to the middle of the room where the skulls are, and lift the southern most one, of the four skulls to receive a Small Key. Bomb the northeast cracked wall to reveal the Northwest Door. Now, head west, through the Northwest Door, into the room beyond. In this room, open the chest to receive the Dungeon Map. Now, head east through the East Door, back to the previous room. In the previous room, head south, and open the Southwest Door, with the Small Key. Now, head west through the Southwest Door into the next room. Kill, or avoid the pink skeleton, the green jellyfish, and the red jelly fish, and try to avoid the fire. Once, beyond the them, head down the north stairs, and go north, through the North Door, down in the lower part of the room. In this room, lift the skull to receive a second Small Key. Now, head south, through the South Door. Now, back in this room, head west, and open the Northwest Door with your Small Key. Now, with the Northwest Door open; head north, through the Northwest Door. This room has two skeletons, but they really aren't in the way, so simply avoid them. Hit the pegs with your Magic Hammer, and go to the east side of the switch, and head west. This should push the lever, and open the floodgate. Don't waste bombs on the cracks because there isn't anything there. Now, head south, through the South Door. With the water flooding this room, you can now reach the West Door, so simply head west, through the West Door, from here. Now, you have reached the main core of the entire level. Things get pretty easy from here. From here, head south through the South Door. This room requires you to head east, and then south though the Southeast Door. In this room, head west, and then north, through the Northwest Door. In this room head north to the two blocks, and push the southern block, east, to reveal a chest. Open the chest to receive the Dungeon Compass. From here, head north through the North Door. Once again, we're in the core room of the level. Now we need to head, west, through the Southwest Door. In this room, head west off the stairs, and continue to by heading north, through the North Door, on the lower part of the room. In this room, lift the skull to receive a Small Key, and head south through the South Door, back to the previous room. Now, that youre back in this room, head east up the stairs, and continue east, through the East Door back into the core room of the level once again. Now, that youre in the core room again, head north, and go west, to the Locked Northwest Door, now unlock it with your third Small Key. Now, head west through the Northwest Door. Once, in this room, kill, or avoid the skeleton, and hit the Crystal Switch with your Magic Boomerang, Bow, or Sword, to turn it Blue. Also, move the Lever west, by running into it, and the water will rise after doing so. Now, leave the bounds of the fallen Blue Barriers, and hit the Crystal Switch again to make it red again. Now, with all of this done, head east, through the East Door. Were back in the core room, so head south from here, and head, once again, west, through the Southwest Door. Now, that we're back in this room, head west. With the water, finally in this room, we can swim west, to the West Door, so do so, and head west through the West Door. In this room, head west, off the stairs, and move over to the stone blocks. In this room you cant raise the water, so you must move the blocks. Move the south most block to the west, and move the middle block to the north. Now, head west, and up the stairs to the higher part of the room, and head north, up the North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on the 1st Floor. Once, up here, head north, until you get to the north wall. Over here, you should see a hole on the west side of the room, and a second hole on the east side of the room. The west hole goes nowhere, and only gets you a few rupees. The east hole takes you to an otherwise unreachable door. Jump down the east hole to get to the floor below. You are now on Basement Floor 1. Dont jump off the ledge from here, instead, head east through the East Door. In this room, open the chest to receive the Big Key. Now, head west through the West Door. Now, that youre back in this room, now you should jump off the ledge, and once you do so, head south, go up the east stairs, continue heading east, and head east through the East Door. Now, once in this again swim, east, then head east through the East Door to get back into the core room. Okay, we now have half of Dark World Level 2 behind us now. We are in this dungeons core room, and so is the Dungeon item. We have the Big Key, now, so from here, head to the middle of the room, and open the Big Chest to receive the Hook Shot from the Big Chest. From here, head to the south part of the platform you're standing on in front of the Big Chest, and aim the Hook Shot east towards the skull to the east of you on the platform to the east of you. The Hook Shot will then pull you to the east platform onto the skull. On this platform lift the skull at the far end to receive the fourth Small Key. Now, jump off, and head back onto the platform where you got the Hook Shot. Once standing behind the Big Chest, to the north of it, aim your Hook Shot north to get to the north platform. Now, unlock, and head north through the North Door, with the use of your fourth Small Key. Head to the west side of this room, and lift the northwest skull to reveal a Floor Switch. Now, move the statue north over the Floor Switch that's been revealed. Now, head north through the now open North Door on the east side of the room, not the one that opened right in front of you. Don't head down the Northeast Stairs, head through the North Door to the east of you. When you arrive in this room, head north, and down the North Stairs to the floor below. You are now on Basement Floor 2. From here, push the lever west, to lower the water level. Now, head west through the West Door. In this room, head north, through the North Door. You can head south for a large amount of rupees if you want to though. Anyways, you are now in a huge room with waterfalls. Notice that the second waterfall from the far west is dry and has a door right? Well, head through the second waterfall from the far east, because it too, has a door behind the waterfall. In the room thats revealed behind the waterfall, head north, up the North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on Basement Floor 1. From here, head south through the South Door. In this room, swim against the current to the east most stairs with a skull sitting near it, lift it to receive a fifth Small Key. Swim to the next set of stairs past the stairs with the door you just came in this room through. There will be a cracked wall, so bomb the cracks for to reveal a room full of hearts if youre low on them. Otherwise swim west to the far west stairs, and open the Northwest Door located there. Now, head north through the Northwest door. In this room, head north, through the North door, and ready yourself for the Dark World Level 2 Boss! Maiden Text: (Your Name), thanks to you, I was able to escape from the clutches of evil. Thank you! The Triforce will grant the wishes of whoever touches it, as long as that person lives That is why it was hidden in the Golden Land. Only a select few were told of its location, but at some point that knowledge was lost The one who rediscovered the Golden Land was an evil thief named Ganondorf. Luckily, he couldnt figure out how to return to the Light World Well, remember that you have magical powers, which only the Hero can make use of! There are some other magical warping points like the one you saw on Death Mountain. By using them you can go between the two worlds and find the evils hidden in the Dark World. You are the only one who can destroy Ganondorf, the thief No! Ganon, the evil King of Darkness! Do you understand? Yes. Not at all. May the way of the Hero lead to the Triforce. Now, we have finished the second level of the Dark World. This is where things get interesting because now we can explore the entire Dark World, since we have access to all the items that unlock other areas of the Dark World. Anyways head north a few screens to the Bomb Shop. Dark World Explanation Part II: Now, that we have finished Dark World Level 2, we have the choice between Levels 3 and 4! I would suggest Level 4, first because it is easier to get to, easier to beat, and shorter. Also, it makes traveling in the Dark World a lot easier, and faster. So choose which you want to do first. When you beat level 4, you will be able to pick between Level's 3, 5, and 6 as long as you have the magic flute, but you CAN always do things straight through normally. Level 4 is a lot easier then 3 even for beginners though. You will need the Flute to get into Dark World Levels 5, and 6, and it makes Light World Travel, a lot faster in general, so choose whether, or not you want to do that now. How to get the Flute: Start from the Bomb Shop, which is north of Dark World Level 2. Just a short way's west is a forest clearing that can only be entered from the south. Enter this and talk to the tree like person. He will tell you to dig up his flute under some flowers in the same forest clearing in the Light World. He will then give you his shovel. Warp to the Light World, and head to the northwest part of the forest clearing. Dig up every flower, and under one is the flute. Now, head back through the warp to the Dark World, and talk to the tree like person, then play the flute for him. He tells you to go to the Light World Kakariko Town. Warp to the Light World, then head northwest until you reach Kakariko Village, if you are confused look at your map! The building nearby the South Kakariko Village entrance is the bar, and it is surrounded by pots, and bushes. Inside is an old man near the entrance with a shiny head. Play the flute and he will tell you to take his son's steed with the birds. Now, leave the bar, and head west, then north up the pink path. Go straight up it until you reach a bird statue with north, west, east, and south marked tiles surrounding it. Play the flute, and a bird will fly away. Play the flute anytime to warp all over Hyrule, but it only works in the Light World. This flute is helpful though, because it takes you to a warp tile that takes you to the area Dark World Level 5 is located in, and another warp tile that takes you to the area Dark World Level 6 is located in, which is otherwise unreachable. It also cuts walking time down by a lot, while in the Light World. How to get to Dark World Level 3 (Original Path): Start from the Bomb Shop, known as Links House in the Light World. Keep in mind that the Bomb Shop is a good location to go to, because its a central location, and represents Links House in both worlds. To make this path work, unlike the other path you have to have beaten Dark World Levels 1 + 2, not just 1, like the other. You must be in the Dark World for this. Go east from the Bomb Shop / Links House, and go north past the pegs, after hitting them down with your Magic Hammer. Now, go north past Dark World Level 1, and the Pyramid of Power. Go up the path as if your going to the Witchs Hut, or Waterfalls of Wishing, but as soon as you see a broken bridge along the bank side, use your Hook Shot to get pulled across to the other side of the river. Now, continue west past the cemetery, and the Fortune Tellers House. South of this house is the Town of Thieves, and north of here is the forest entrance, to Dark World Level 3. To get to Dark World Level 4 from here, go into the center of town, and pull the trident on the statue. To get to Dark World Level 3, go through the forest clearing, and go north, past the hole, and continue north until you reach a skull with an open mouth, now go inside to get into Dark World Level 3. How to get to Dark World Level 3 (Easy Path): Start from the Bomb Shop, known as Links House in the Light World. Keep in mind that the Bomb Shop is a good location to go to, because its a central location, and represents Links House in both worlds. If you have the Flute warp to the Light World, play it, and warp to location 3 the town. If you are in the Dark World, warp to the Light World, and walk to Kakariko Village, if you dont have the flute. In the town at the northern area are two forest entrances the west one reveals a path, the east one reveals a large black rock. If you have beaten Dark World Level 4, throw the rock out of the way. If you haven't yet go north along the west path, until you see a right path that branches off, go south down that path, and collapse the pegs with your Magic Hammer. Lift the small white rock to reveal a warp to the Dark World. You are now in the Dark World Town of Thieves. South of here is the statue holding a trident. By pulling the Trident you can reveal Dark World Level 4, if you havent already beaten it you can now, if you want to continue towards Dark World Level 3, head to the northeast entrance of the town, and head north past the Fortune Tellers House, and you will come upon a third forest entrance. Go inside the forest through this entrance. Head, north, and continue north, past the hole in the ground be careful around it though. When you see a skull, with its mouth open, enter it to get inside Dark World Level 3. Dark World Level 3: You are now on Basement Floor 1, in Dark World Level 3, Part I. Before you enter keep in mind sitting in a spot too long will cause the wall master to swoop down, and grab you. Dont allow this to happen, because he takes you to the level entrance. This is the first of the 3 main entrances. Okay, from here, head east, through the East Door. Your main goal in this room is to open the chest, to do so, step on the Star Switches. Once, you step on the Star Switches, you will be able to open the chest. Open the chest, to receive the Dungeon Map. Now, head west though the West Door. Okay, now, that your back in the entrance room head south, and outside. The hole to the south of this skull, leads to a useless room containing a Small Key that opens the locked door, to connect the optional area to the level area you just visited, so just avoid it. *Optional* The hole to the west contains a Small Key, and the Dungeon Compass. Go in if you want the Dungeon Compass. Here's the directions if youre interested. Jump into the hole to the west of the skull entrance. You are now on Basement Floor 1. Once, youre inside the dungeon again, go all the way south, while avoiding the fire string, and continue east, through the East Door. In this room, open the chest in the middle of the room to receive the Dungeon Compass. After taking the Dungeon Compass, most of the floor will disappear. Now, from here, go north, through the North Door to receive a Small Key that opens up back into the entrance room. You can also go, east through the East Door, to receive an alternate Small Key, to also get back into the Entrance Room. Once, you get to the Entrance Room, go south, through that South Door to get back outside. From here, go west past the purple 3x3 flowers, and go north through the bone cage tunnel. Once, through the first bone cage tunnel, go south through the parallel bone cage tunnel, next to the one you just went through. From here there is a Second Skull Entrance south of you, go inside. You are now on Basement Floor 1, in Dark World Level 3 Part II. You are now in the second of three parts of Dark World Level 3. To the north of here is the big key. First, kill all enemies in here, as they are a huge pain. Move the Armos Statue to the east, until it covers the Floor Switch, located under the skull blocking the North Door. This will open the North Door. As youre moving the statue, stop occasionally to avoid the Wall Master. Make sure you are to the north of the statue as you drag it, so that you can reach the North Door when it opens. When you continue into the next room, kill any enemies if they get in your way. Avoid the moving Floor Spike, and the Wall Master as he swoops for you. In the middle of the room is the chest containing the Big Key. Open the chest, and take the Big Key. To the right of the chest, is a cracked wall, open it to receive a full magic healer, if needed, otherwise just ignore the cracked wall. Now, head south through the South Door. In this second entrance room push the statue out of your way, and head south through the South Door, to get outside again. You are now outside, so head east, and travel through both bone cage tunnels. Slash the 3x3 purple bushes, to re-enter the first part of the level, in an area you avoided earlier. You are now on Basement Floor 1 in Dark World Level 3, Part I. You are surrounded by skulls, and have two monsters trying to hit you, as well as a constant circling blue ball. Remove a skull, and head south. From here step on the Star Switch ONCE, and bomb the cracked wall to the west of the ring of skulls. Now, go west, through the West Door that has just been revealed. In here pull the switch to the south, to reveal the Big Chest south of you. Go south to the Big Chest, and open it to get the Fire Rod. Use your Hook Shot to reach a statue on either side of the First Entrance. Now, head back outside through the entrance. Head back west through both bone cage tunnels into the Second Skull Entrance, once again. You are now on Basement Floor 1, of Dark World Level 3 Part II. In here head west through the West Door. In this room, once again, head west through the West Door. In the northwest corner of this room, under the skull is a Small Key grab it, and go south through the South Door, to arrive outside, near the Third Skull Entrance. Once outside you will notice a left bone cage tunnel, and a right bone cage tunnel. The left bone cage tunnel leads to the Third, and final part of Dark World Level 3. The right bone cage tunnel use useless, so just avoid it. Once, youre through the left bone cage tunnel, use your Fire Rod on the tip of the huge Rocks freaky nose with legs. It will burn away, and the Third, and final Skull Entrance will be revealed. Now, go north, through the Third Skull Entrance, to get back into Dark World Level 3. You are now on Basement Floor 1, of Dark World Level 3, Part III. You are in the last segment of Dark World Level 3. This part of Dark World Level 3 will feel more like a typical level, except for simple, and short, things get very easy from here, because of that. With the Small Key, you grabbed at the last part of the level just a little bit ago, open the North Door, and go north through the North Door. This room is tricky, so follow my directions extra closely. Watch closely for the Wall Master above you. Step on the Star Switch, and walk north. Move the skulls out of the way, and step on the Star Switch's directly north of the first Star Switch's in front of the South Door you entered this room, through. Now, walk west, onto the Star Switch next to the torch to the west of the South Door. From here, head north to the Northwest Torch. Move the skulls out of the way, and head east to the two sets of four Star Switch's. Step on the northern, which you havent yet stepped on. From here, go north to the Northeast torch, and step on the Star Switch near it. From here, go south, and continue east through the East Door. In this room, kill all four Zombies, and remove the two skulls blocking one of the unlighted torches. Now, head south, back to the Southwest Door, that you entered the room through, and pull out your Fire Rod. Work your way north, from here, and make sure to light all four torches on your way to the Northwest Door. If you do it, correctly the Northwest Door will open. Now, go west, through the Northwest Door. In this room, slash the green vines in the middle of the north wall to reveal the North Door. Now, head north, through the North Door. In here avoid the swooping Wall Master, and kill the Zombie for the Small Key to appear. Use it on the locked East Door. Now, go east through the East Door. In this last room, remove a skull, and avoid the corresponding spike. Now, jump into the hole, to the floor below, to reach the boss of Dark World Level 3. Dark World Level 3 Boss: Mothula You are now on Basement Floor Level 2. Phase 1: Use your Fire Rod, if you have magic, but if you dont use your sword. Take the Heart Container, he drops, and the Crystal to begin a conversation with the Maiden of this Dungeon. Maiden Text: (Your name), because of you, I can escape from the clutches of the evil monsters. Thank You! ...Do you know the prophecy of the Great Cataclysm? This is the way I heard it... If a person who has an evil heart gets the Triforce, a Hero is destined to appear... ...and he alone must face the person who began the Great Cataclysm. If the evil one destroys the Hero, nothing can save the world from his wicked reign. Only a person of the Knights Of Hyrule, who protected the royalty of Hylia, can become the Hero... You are of their blood-line, aren't you? Then you must rescue Zelda without fail. Do you understand? Yes. May the way of the Hero lead to the Triforce. Game Boy Advance Maiden Text: (Your Name), thanks to you, I was able to escape the clutches of the evil monsters. Thank you! Do you know the prophecy of the Great Cataclysm? This is the way I heard it If a person with an evil heart gets the Triforce, a Hero is destined to appear and he alone must face the person who unleashed the Great Cataclysm. If the evil one destroys the Hero, nothing can save the world from his wicked reign. Only a member of the Knights of Hyrule, who protected the Hylian royalty, can become the Hero You are of their bloodline, arent you? Then you must rescue Zelda without fail! Do you understand? Yes. Not at all. May the way of the Hero lead to the Triforce. How to get to Dark World Level 4: To get to Dark World Level 4 from here, if you havent already beaten it, work your way out of the Skull Forest to the south, and go south into the Thieves Town. In the middle of town, go to the statue, and pull the trident away, to reveal the entrance to Dark World Level 4. Dark World Level 4: You are now on Basement Floor 1. Dark World Level 4 as I said earlier is a very simple place, and gives you many options. In here you can easily skip The Dungeon Map, and Dungeon Compass. Also the Big Key is practically placed in your pocket. Since, this part is kind of optional I will place the directions to where these items are. Keep reading, because the Big Key is mentioned, and pointed out directly after the locations of the Dungeon Map, and Dungeon Compass. Okay, first off the entrance room is a large room. It has a room just like it parallel to the east of it, another one just like it to its north, and a third one just like it in the far opposite corner. In other words its four identically sized rooms that form one giant square by all being next to each other. -Optional Path to Map:- This section is optional. Currently, we are in the southwest room. The map is in this very room, in the northwest corner. If you walk north along the catwalk next to the entrance you will have to jump off the end to reach the chest. Open the chest to receive the Dungeon Map. Regular Walkthrough: The Big Key is actually also in this room if you go to the southeast corner of this room you can see it. To reach it, go into the northwest through the Northeast Door on the floor of this room. Once, in the northwest room, head east under the catwalk to head east through Northeast Door to get into the northeast room. When you get there head south, through the South Door, under that catwalk, to get into the southeast room. -Optional Path to Compass:- This room is great, anyways head south, and up the stairs onto the catwalk. From here head south until you can see the Southwest Door. Now, head south and open the chest on the catwalk to receive the Dungeon Compass. Regular Walkthrough: Now, jump off the catwalk on the west side, and head west under the catwalk, through the West Door, to get into the southwest room. Open the chest in here to receive the Big Key. Now, head east through the Southeast Door, back into the southeast room. In here head east until you reach a path heading north, below the catwalk. Head north from here past the statue with a fire ball circling it. From here head north through the Northeast Door, into the northeast room. Head north from here up the stairs onto the catwalk. Keep heading north to the northeast corner where you will notice a locked door. Open it with your Big Key, to reveal the Northeast Door. Now, head north through the Northeast door into a hallway with torches in it. In this hallway the North Door leads to the empty Boss Room, the Northwest Door is shut, and the Southeast Door is locked by a Small Key. Grab the Small Key under the northeast skull at the north end of this room. Now, unlock the Southeast Door, with you Small Key, and head east through it. In this room head west through the West Door, and try not to get too beat up. In here walk carefully past the spikes, and monsters, and head west through the West Door. This room is somewhat tricky, all you have to do is head north, and slash the monsters hearts, but avoid touching the monsters, or the spikes. Its best to move against the moving floor, by running against it, and to lean against statues. Although you usually shouldn't fight monsters, now you should if you dont want to get to hurt. Avoid the fire ball chain too. I find its easy to walk from side to side by side stepping. Once, youre done head north through the North Door. In this room be careful to only lift the skull in the middle without hitting the Crystal Switch to find a second Small Key. Now, place a bomb next to the crystal switch and run north to the North Door, without unlocking the North Door. The bomb should go off, and hit the crystal switch. Now, open the North Door with your Small Key, and head up the North Stairs to the Floor above. You are now on the 1st Floor. In the southeast corner lift up the east most skull, and step on the Floor Switch. Now, head east through the East Door. Be careful not to pull the switch in the northwest corner though. This is simply a hallway, so head east along it, and east through the East Door. Open the chest for 3 bombs, if needed. There are also 2 bombs under the skulls. Stand in-between the two tables, face north, and place a bomb with A, and press R to lift, and throw it. Now, the bomb will land on the other side of the metal bar. It will explode, revealing a hole, which will shine light into the empty Boss Room below. If you don't do it right, go a little bit farther south and try again. Now, go west through the West Door when you have made a giant hole in the floor. In this room just head west, then west again through the West Door. Now, that were back in this room head north, and down the North Stairs to the floor below. You are now on Basement Floor 1. This room now has spikes running back and forth. Dash south, and head south through the South Door, without hitting the Crystal Switch. This room should now have the Blue Barrier down flat, which used to be blocking the Northeast Door. From here head east through the Northeast Door. From this spot, head east through the East Door. This room is dangerous, though all you have to do is head north down the North Stairs to the floor below. You are now on Basement Floor 2. Your goal in this room is to head south through the South Door. Kill all three enemies, if you want. Lift up the Giant Block, and head south through the South Door. This room is empty, so head east through the East Door. This room isn't tough, just head north, and the doors open up without keys. The monsters can be slashed through the metals bars. At the north most end, talk to the girl, and open the chest for your third Small Key. Girl Text: Ohh, thank you so much! You saved my life. Please take me outside. Now, with the girl following you, head south to the south end of this room, and head west through the West Door. Once, in this room head west through the West Door. Walk carefully in this room, and head west to the Southwest Door, and open it with the Small Key. Now, head west through the Southwest Door. This room has disappearing floor as you enter it. To start go to the north end of the chest, and work your way around to the south end of the chest, and open it to receive a Titan's Mitt. Now, run to the north side of the room, and head east through the East Door. For this room, just head north, and east through the Northeast Door. In this room just head north up the North Stairs. You are now on Basement Floor 1. Head east to the northeast skull and lift it. Step on the Floor Switch that is revealed to open the East Door. Now, head east through the East Door. This room is simple, just head north through the North Door. Okay, now youre in the Boss Room if you have followed me so far there should be a giant square of light just ahead of you. Bring the girl into the square of light, and she will become the Dark World Level 4 Boss Blind the Thief. Dark World Level 4 Boss: Blind the Thief Blind the Thief Text: Gyaaah! Too bright! In this battle watch out for bubbles, and laser beams when you slash Blind. Now, that he is dead collect the Heart Container, and the Crystal. Now, the Maiden within will talk to you. Maiden Text: (Your Name), thanks to you, I was able to escape the clutches of the evil monsters. Thank you! As the sages sealed the way to the Dark World, the Knights of Hyrule defended them from the attacks of evil monsters. I heard that the Knights of Hyrule were nearly wiped out in that battle You are perhaps the last one to carry on the bloodline of those knights Its ironic that the last one in the line has the potential to become the Hero of legend. Surely you can destroy Ganon! Do you understand? Yes. Not at all. May the way of the Hero lead to the Triforce. Once he is dead you will most likely be all out of breath from a hard battle. Trust me I usually am after a fight with him. Anyways now you will be transported out of Dark World Level 4 to the middle of Kakariko Town's sister city. From here you can either go to Dark World Levels 2, 3, 5, or 6 depending on what levels you have completed, and what levels you have not completed up to this point. I would suggest to just go to Dark World Level 3 to get it out of the way. If you've already finished Dark World Level 3, you can travel to either Dark World Levels 5, 6, or 7. Optional and Required Items Part II Bottle 4: (Optional) Get from a purple chest located in the Dark World equivalent to the Light World Smith House AFTER you return the smith to the Smith House in the Light World. Cane of Bryna: (Optional) Go to Death Mountain (Flute Warp 1) go to the top, and step through the magic portal. (The one you went through to get to Light World Level 3.) From here jump off the cliff to the east (Not far). It has a small indent that you can jump off of. You land on a ledge with a cave. Go inside, hammer the pegs. Use the Magic Cape if you have it. Cross the Spiked floor. Open the chest to get the Cane of Bryna. Bombos Medallion: (Optional) In the Dark World, go through the swamps, past Dark World Level 2, and go as far west as you can until In the Light World you would be at the edge of the Desert. Now, use the Book of Mudora in front of the Stone Tablet to get the Bombos Medallion. Quake Medallion: (Required) In the Dark World, go north of the Dark World Level 1 Ruins. Now, go past the Dark World equivalent of the Witch's Hut. Go east then north as far as you can until you get to the edge of the Dark World equivalent of the Waterfalls of wishing. See the perfect rock ring? Throw something like a bush, bomb, or rock into it. A Zora will throw the Quake Medallion out. Optional Upgrades: Level 3 Sword Upgrade: (Optional) Rescue a frog south of Dark World Thieves Town containing Dark World Level 4. He is where the Light World Library was. He is surrounded by black rocks. Take him with you by talking to him, and use the Magic Mirror. Now, Go to the Southeast corner of Kakariko Town, to the Smith's House. Take him inside, and his partner will say to come back for a sword upgrade. Leave, and re-enter talk to them, and they will upgrade your sword for 10 rupees. It will take a short walk around Hyrule for them to finish though. I suggest tackling the fourth bottle, mentioned above, now. Double Magic: (Optional) Go to the Smith's House. (Look in Above Sword Level 3 Upgrade.) At the southeast foot of the Smith's House is a peg, hammer it, and jump off the cliff beyond it to land in a hole. Once, inside, head north through the North Door. Use the Magic Powder on the red filled bowl held by two hands. A bat will come out, and give you the double magic. How to get to Dark World Level 5: To get to Dark World Level 5, you must first go to the Light World. Once in the Light World pull out your trusty flute, and if you havent already gotten the flute, go up a few paragraphs, and read about it. Once, you have the flute, use it, and warp to warp 8. If you don't have the flute, and are too stubborn to get it, you dont have to until Dark World Level 6, but it is wise to get it now. If you want to get to Dark World Level 5 the hard way, go to the southeast corner of Hyrule by foot, and swim into the center of the lake. At the center is an island, with two green guys, and a cave. In the center of the island is a rock. Lift this rock (Its black by the way) to reveal a warp tile to the Dark World. Step on it, and it will take you to the closed off court yard that houses the entrance to Dark World Level 5. Step inside the doorway to enter Dark World Level 5. Warp 8 takes you to the edge of the lake. At the edge of the lake, just jump in, swim to the island, and lift the stone, to take you to the court yard of Dark World Level 5. Now, head north, through the North Door, into Dark World Level 5. Dark World Level 5: You are now in Dark World Level 5. This is the First Floor. To open the west door leading into the next room pull out your Fire Rod, and hit the moving Freezard. The Bombos Medallion works too, but uses more magic. Now, go west through the open West Door. In this room pull out your Hook Shot, and keep using it to kill all the blue jellyfish, or green if your playing the Game Boy Advance version. You can also use it to pick up their drops. Once they're dead walk across the ice, and be careful its slippery, and open the North Door with the Small Key they dropped. Now, walk north, down the North Stairs to the floor below. You are now on B1. In this room step on the Floor Switch in the southwest corner to open the East Door. Now, head east, through the East Door. This room contains four doors one in each direction, and a block in the middle that forces you to go through one door at a time. For now push it right, and go south, through the South Door. In this room you can go back into the previous room, or you can kill all of the enemies to get the Dungeon Compass. After getting, or not getting the Dungeon Compass go north, through the North Door. Now, that youre back in the four door room, push the block north, and head east, through the East Door. This room contains several floor monsters, kill, or avoid them, and lift the southern skull to open the west, and east doors. Now, go west, through the West Door. Push the block in the room with four doors west, and go north, through the North Door. You are finally done with the room with four doors. In this room the goal is to reach the cracked floor in the middle of the room. Kill, or avoid all four red jellyfish, and hit the Crystal Switch once to make it blue, place a bomb on it, walk over the blue tile, on either the west, or east sides, and the bomb will go off to make the Crystal Switch red, now, when the red tiles go down, place a bomb on the cracked floor, then jump in the hole thats left afterwards to the floor below. You are now on B2. This room contains a locked South Door, and a sahasrahla tile stating that the Skeleton Knight's have a second weakness after being slashed with your sword. This is bombing them. Slash once, and place a bomb on top of their pile of bones to kill them. There are two of them. Do this process twice to open the South Door. Now, go south through the South Door. You are now in a huge room full of floor spikes, jellyfish, black shadows, and a moving floor. Avoid all of this, and kill a Jellyfish for the Small Key that opens the South Door. Now, go south through the South Door. In this new room, go north down the North Stairs to the floor below. You are now on the fourth of eight floors on B3. Kill all the floor monsters to open the North Door. Now, go north through the North Door. You are now in a new room with four doors. Go west, through the West Door into the next room. This room is quite tricky, avoid the floor spikes, the flame string, and be careful on the ice, to get to the West Stairs. Now, go down the West Stairs to the floor below. You are now on B4. Jump in the east hole to the floor below. You are now on B5. You land in the room with the Big Chest, now go east through the East Door. This room contains the hardest puzzle in this level, this puzzle has been modified in the Game Boy Advance version of A Link to the Past. On the Game Boy Advance Version you have to lift a big rock, and jump in a hole. On Super Nintendo you have to push a block on the left into the hole. Avoid it for now. Now, go east through the East Door. This room is tricky with the flying shadows, the icy floor, the flame string, and the magic sucking spike. Grab the Small Key from the south most skull in the group of 3 skulls in the northwest corner of the room, and lift the lone skull in the northeast corner of the room to reveal the Floor Switch that opens the South Door. Now, go south through the South Door. In this room walk carefully on the catwalk to the West Door, and avoid the Fire String. You are finally in the last room of this floor. Lift the skull in the southwest corner of the room to reveal a Floor Switch. Step on the floor switch to reveal a chest. Open this chest to get a Small Key. Now, go north up the North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on B4. Kill, or avoid the Freezard, and open the North Door, with one either of your two Small Key's. Now, go north through the North Door. Of the two skulls to the east, lift the west most one to reveal a Floor Switch. Step on it to open all the doors. Walk north, and go east through the East Door. In this room, Hook Shot across the room onto the east block, and go south through the South Door. In this room avoid all the Huge Spikes, and go north up the North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on B3. Hook Shot across the room onto the east skull, and lift it to reveal a Floor Switch. Step on it to reveal the West Chest. Hook Shot across the room onto the West Chest, and open it to receive a Small Key. Now, go north up the North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on B2. Kill the two Skeleton Knights with your Sword, and Bomb to get rid of them. Then, hit the pegs down with your Magic Hammer, and lift the Big Rock to reveal a Small Key. Lift the southwest most, skull to reveal a Floor Switch, step on it to reveal a chest. Open the chest to receive the Dungeon Map. Pull the tongue on the Statue to the south, to open the East Door. Now, go east through the East Door. This room contains a statue with a tongue, and the North Stairs. Go north, up the North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on B1. This room contains a chest. Open the chest to receive the Big Key. Now, go down the North Stairs to the floor below. You are now on B2. Pull the statue's tongue to open the West Door. Now, go west through the West Door. Go down the North Stairs in this room to the floor below. You are now on B3. Hook Shot across the room onto the chest. Open the West Door with one of your three Small Keys. Now, go west through the West Door. You are now in the second room with four doors. Go west through the West Door. Now, back in this room which, has an icy floor, Floor Spikes, and a Flame String, avoid all of them, and go down the West Stairs to the floor below. You are now on B4. Place a Bomb north of the South Stairs, on the cracked floor to reveal the West Hole. Jump in the West Hole to the floor below. You are now on B5. In this room, open the Big Chest to receive the Blue Mail that cuts damage received in half. Now, move the middle block, and either the north, or south blocks to the east. Now, go east through the East Door. You are now back in the room with the puzzle that I stated was modified in the Game Boy Advance version, but not on the Super Nintendo version, and that is true. For now, we can't solve it, so go north, through the North Door using your Big Key. In this room kill, or avoid the three red Jellyfish, kill the Skeleton Knight, and open the North Door with one of your two Small Keys to reveal the North Stairs. Now, go north, down the North Stairs to the floor below. You are now on B6. There is nothing in this room, so just go south, through the South Door. In this room you can see the second half of the puzzle that was modified on the Game Boy Advance version of A Link to the Past. On the SNES it has a Floor Switch that has to be weighed down. If you have already beaten Dark World Level 6 just use the Cane of Somaria to make a block to place on the floor switch to open the South Door. If you haven't, just keep reading. On Game Boy Advance there is no Floor Switch, there is only a wall that you need to jump through the hole above you to land on the other side of, to reach the already open South Door. For both versions keep reading. Open the East Door with your last Small Key. Now, go east through the East Door. This room contains the Crystal Switch needed to solve the special puzzle. Hit the Crystal Switch, and leave, unless you want to lift the skulls to restock on supplies. Now, go west through the West Door. Gape, at the puzzle that cant yet be solved, and push onward. Now, go north through the North Door. In this room go north, up the North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on B5. Kill, or avoid the three Red Jellyfish, and go south through the South Door, or if you are low on health, jump into either the West Hole, or the East Hole to land in a room on B7, thats full of three fairies, that you can either use to heal, or catch for the Boss fight later. If you do jump down, do whatever you want with the fairies, and then step on the warp tile, to get back to B6, with the pots, but next to them. Now, go north up the North Stairs back to the room with three Red Jellyfish, and two holes. Now, go south, through the South Door back into the room with the special puzzle. We need to push the block on the west side, not the east side. On Game Boy Advance you need to lift the block on the west side, so keep reading. That being said, go east through the East Door. In this room lift the lonesome skull in the northeast corner to reveal the Floor Switch. Step on the Floor Switch to open the South Door. Now, go south, through the South Door. In this room be careful on the icy catwalk, avoid the Fire String, and go west, through the West Door. Now, go north up the North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on B4. Now, go north, through the Northeast Door. In this room lift the west most skull in the east group of skulls to reveal a Floor Switch. Step on the Floor Switch to open the West Door. Now, go west, through the West Door. In this room jump into the hole right next to you to the floor below. You are now on B5. Go east through the East Door. You are now FINALLY in the room containing the special puzzle, but to the west of it. Push the South Block into the hole, and jump in with it to the floor below. On Game Boy Advance lift the giant block, and jump in the hole to the floor below. You are now on B6. Kill the Skeleton Knight, the four Blue Jellyfish, and the Freezard if you would like, but you don't have to. Push the block south, over the Floor Switch to open the South Door. You are FINALLY DONE with the Super Nintendo version of A Link to the Past's Dark World Level 5 special puzzle. On Game Boy Advance kill the Skeleton Knight, and the two Green Jellyfish if you want, and go south through the South Door. For both versions keep reading. In this new room, kill the two Red Jellyfish to get them out of the way. Go to the west side of the room, and lift the two skulls. Now, go to the east side of the room, and lift the huge rock to get it out of the way. Under the huge rock are four Green/Blue Jellyfish, so kill them. Pound down the two pegs, with your Magic Hammer, to get them out of the way. Lift the two remaining skulls, to get some Arrows, and Bombs, but mainly to get them out of the way. Go to the west side, move the east statue, which moves out of the west side, to get it out of the way. Pound down the two remaining pegs, with your Magic Hammer, to get them out of the way. Now, lift the last big rock to reveal a hole. Jump into the hole to fall to the floor below, and prepare yourself for the Dark World Level 5 Boss. You are now on B7. Congratulations on beating such a useless, easy boss! Now, pick up the Heart Container, and Crystal, and listen to the Maiden. Maiden Text: (Your Name), because of you, I can escape from the clutches of the evil monsters. Thank You! They say the Hylia people controlled mysterious powers, as did the seven wise men. But the blood of the Hylia has become thin over time. We who carry the blood of the seven wise men do not possess strong power any more, either. Our powers will increase if we mix the courage of the Knights with the wisdom of the wise men. Only a short time remains until the gate at the castle linking the worlds opens completely. If you defeat Ganon, this world will vanish and the Triforce will wait for a new holder. I believe in you... Good luck! Do you understand? Yes. May the way of the hero lead to the Triforce. Now, that youre done with the Dark World Level 5, youll be warped out. Use your Magic Mirror from here, to get to the Light World, so that you can move onto Dark World Level 6. How to get to Dark World Level 6: To get to Dark World Level 6, first you must have the Ether Medallion, and the Flute. These are required, no exceptions. If you have both the Ether Medallion, and the Flute, go to Flute Warp 6. Once you arrive at Flute Warp 6, lift the black rock to the east of you, and toss it out of the way. Below it is a Dark World Warp. Step in it to arrive at the Dark World. Jump off the platform onto the ground below. Go directly north for a ways until you reach a stone platform with stairs, and an Ether insignia. Use the Ether Medallion on the Ether insignia, and a huge tree will surface from the waters to reveal an entrance revealing Dark World Level 6. Go inside it, to begin Dark World Level 6 exploration. Dark World Level 6: You are now on the 1st Floor, in Dark World Level 6. The path ahead is harder then the path behind, but the path in this Level is easier then the path in the previous Level. To begin, go north, walk close to the hole, and use your Hook Shot to reach the other side. Now, go north, down the North Stairs to the floor below. You are now on B1. In this room kill 5 multicolored tentacles, and 4 Wizrobes to open the North Door. Now, go north, through the North Door into the room beyond. This next room is one of the biggest, most complex rooms in any ALTTP Dungeon. It has a total of 8 Doors leading off of it. You have just entered through one of them. The North-Northeast Door of the eight doors is the most useful at this point in time, so that is where we are headed. To get there you will have to dodge Fireballs, and Fire strings. Its the unlocked door of the two Northeast Doors. Now, go north through the North-Northeast Door into the next room. This room has four doors leading off in all directions. We came in through the South Door, and the West Door is useless, so we have the North, and East Doors to choose from. The North Door has a Small Key, and the East Door contains two Small Keys. To get it out of the way, well go north first. Go north, through the North Door. You will have to push the block east, or west to get it open, so make sure, to do so. Now, go north, through the North Door. In this room, go north, through the North Door. This room has only the South Door, you just came through, so go north along this straight path across the bridge. At the end of the bridge is a dead end with a Small Key in a chest, open it to receive the Small Key. Now, go south, through the South Door. In this room once again, go south through the South Door. You now are back in the room with four doors. From here push the block south, and go east, through the East Door. In this room, lift the Northwest Skull, throw it, and grab the Small Key underneath. Also, lift the Southeast Skull, and step on the Floor Switch beneath to receive a second Small Key from the chest on the spikes. Now, open the North Door with one of your three Small Keys. Now, go north, through the North Door into the room beyond. In this room make sure to go north, through the North Door, as the West Door as of now has nothing useful. This room is only a catwalk, so walk to the other end of it, and go west, through the West Door. This room is once again a catwalk, so go to the end of it, and go west, through the West Door. This room has been simplified by the blue barriers, so go west to the other side of the room, around the huge rib cage like wall structure to the lone skull, and crystal switch. Lift the skull to receive a third Small Key. Now, hit the crystal switch to make it blue. From here go east, then south, past the fallen blue barriers, the spikes, skeletons, and beam shooting statues, to the locked South Door. Now, open the South Door with one of your two Small Keys. From here, go south, through the South Door. In this room try to stay alive, while going south all the way to the West, and South Doors. Take the South Door, as the West door is at the moment a dead end. Now, go south, through the South Door. This room has nothing in it so go east, through the East Door. You are now in the Main Room with eight doors again. You have already explored three of them, and still have five left to explore. From the door you just entered this room from, go south, to the locked Southwest Door. Now, go past this door on to the catwalk. Go north past the beam shooting statue, and over the fallen blue barriers. Lift the lone skull to reveal a Floor Switch. Step on the Floor Switch to reveal a chest. Open the chest to receive a third Small Key. Now, go south to the locked Southwest Door, and open it. Now, go west, through the Southwest Door. In this room, kill the Green Jellyfish, to receive a Fourth Small Key. The South Door leads to an item less dead end, so make sure to avoid it. Unlock the West Door, and go west through the West Door. This room is a royal pain, but very easy to get past. First, stand in the East Door, and wait out the tile war. This next part is optional if you don't want the Dungeon Compass skip the next area of text. Optional: To get the Dungeon Compass, you must light the four torches, and go north, through the North Door. Open the chest to receive the Compass. Now, go east, through the East Door. From here, go east, through the East Door. You are back in the big room with eight doors branching off of it. Go South, and then west, through the Southwest Door. In this room, go west, through the West Door. Now, wait until all the tiles stop moving, and go south, through the South Door. This room has many enemies, but they are only there to slow you down. Go east, then north, up the North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on the 1st floor. There are three rooms to explore up here, this one, a matching room to the south of this one, and a dead end room, which expands into a larger room with an exit. The trick to expanding that room is to have all four torches between the first two rooms light simultaneously. Once, you light all four torches, the third room will become a lot bigger. To reach each of the four un-light torches, push the north, and south blocks west, or east one spot. Then push the middle block north, or south one spot. Do this with all four torches, but DO NOT light any of them yet. Once, all of them are easily accessible, quickly run between all four, and light them. Once all four are light the third room will expand into a large room, and a hole surrounded by spikes will appear. In the third room, jump into the hole to fall to the floor below. You are now on B1. Walk over to the chest, and open it to receive the Big Key. Now, go west, through the West Door. In this room, go over to the warp tile, and step on it to warp to another room. In this room, unlock the North Door with your Big Key. Now, go north, through the North Door. In this room make sure to walk onto the warp tile, to warp to another room. This room has three skulls to left of its North Door, and three skulls to the right of its North Door. Thats because they are guarding it. No, this does not mean they are alive. They are, however, blocking the North Door. Lift the skulls to the west of the North Door as they are a nuisance, and in your way. Now, unlock the North Door with your Big Key. DO NOT go north, through the North Door just yet though. We still have one last thing to do before the last floor, and inevitably the Boss. Before we go downstairs, we must open the Big Chest that is still on this floor. To get to the Big Chest, we must first go east, in this room, through the East Door. In this next room, go up the stairs, south across the catwalk, and south through the South Door. In this third room, go south, through the South Door. You are getting close to the Big Chest. From here, open the chest to receive the Dungeon Map. Dont open the Locked Northwest Door next to you, its a waste of a Small Key. Now, jump off the ledge, and go south to the stairs, and climb back up. Now, go east through the East Door. To get to the Big Chest in this room, pull out your Hook Shot, and swing yourself over to the block to the east of you. Now, tap R, and run with your Pegasus Boots until you bump into the Big Chest. Open the Big Chest to receive the Cane of Somaria. Now, go west, through the West Door. In this room make sure to go north, through the North Door. This room requires you, like the previous room, to go north through the North Door, so do so. In this room unlike the previous two rooms, go west, through the West Door. Okay, we are back where we ran off to retrieve the Dungeon Item. Now, move the skulls out of the way of the North Door, and go north through the North Door. This room is simple, go north down the North Stairs to the floor below. You are now on B2. This room looks quite confusing, but in actuality, is quite simple. The Southwest Door leads on to the eventual Boss. The Southeast Door leads to a room full of money. The Southwest Door is locked with a Floor Switch. The Southeast Door is locked with a Small Key. Up ahead we don't really need Small Keys so it doesn't matter if you use your Small Key(s) or not. There are only 2 skulls in this room. The east skull stores a heart. The west skull stores the Floor Switch. Lift the west skull, to reveal the Floor Switch. Now, pull out your Cane of Somaria, and make a block on top of the Floor Switch to hold it down. This will let you go south, through the Southwest Door. Now, go south, through the Southwest Door. In this room, simply go west through the West Door. This room requires you to sneak past the moving spike, so do so. Before you go west through the West Door, go to the moving floor in the north part of this room, pull out your Magic Boomerang, or your Bow and Arrow, and hit the Crystal Switch in the middle of the square of moving floor to turn it red. Now, that the crystal switch is red, go west, through the West Door. This new room looks like its impossible to cross, but naturally it isn't. Pull out your bombs, and bomb the cracked wall in the middle of the north wall. It will go away to reveal the North Door. In this room hit the Crystal Switch with your sword to make it blue. Now, go back south through the South Door. In this room, once again, continue west, and this time, go west, through the West Door. This room contains endless Jelly's, spikes, and flame strings. Go to the north most part, and move either the west, or east skull out of the way, and hit the Crystal Switch once to make it red. Now, go south until you reach the North Stairs. Now, go north, up the North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on B1. Go west from here until you reach the hole in the floor. Step around it, unlock the North Door with the Big Key, and go north, through the North Door into the Boss Room. Dark World Level 6 Boss: Vitreous This is my favorite boss in all of ALTTP, and he is in my favorite dungeon in all of ALTTP, surprising isn't it? Anyways he, just like this dungeon, is very, very easy. Phase 1: Sit in either the southwest, or southeast corner, and slash the eyes as they come near you. Now, the battle is over. Grab the Heart Container, and the Crystal that follows. This Crystal is the Sixth, and second to last Crystal. Only one remains now. Now, you should receive the maiden text, accompanying the Crystal. Maiden Text: (Your Name), because of you, I've escaped from the clutches of the evil monsters. Thank you! Ganon captured us because he couldn't break the seal of the sages with his power alone. And then, using the wizard Agahnim as his pawn, he drew us to the Dark World. After cracking the seal with our powers, he sealed us inside of these crystals. He then gave us to his loyal monsters. But Ganon didn't plan on you getting this far. Now, Princess Zelda is waiting for you inside of Turtle Rock. Please hurry! Do you understand? Yes. May the way of the Hero lead to the Triforce. Congratulations! We now have only two more dungeons. These dungeons are Dark World Level's 7, and 8. Dark World Level 7 houses the last crystal, which ironically is Princess Zelda whom we rescued once, and failed to rescue a second time, but on this third attempt we will succeed. Dark World Level 8 is Ganon's Castle, and it houses all four Upgraded Light World Boss's. Optional and Required Items Part III: How to get Silver Arrows (Required) and Golden Sword Level 4 (Optional): After getting Crystals 1-6 by beating Dark World Levels 1-6 go to the Dark World Bomb Shop, which is Link's House in the Light World. Note: If you do Dark World Level 7, before any one of the first six, you will be forced to beat ALL seven dungeons to get these instead of just the first six. In there buy the orange bomb for 100 rupees, and head east, then north past the Dark World Level 1 Ruins to the Pyramid of Power that you witnessed when you first entered the Dark World. Don't hit R ever until you reach the second landing of the Pyramid of Power. At the dark brown cracked slab have link walk right next to the cracks, so that the Orange Bomb is sitting directly on the cracks. Hit R, and run a few feet away. Inside is a fairy in a pond. When it asks to throw something in, throw the Master Sword in for a Level 4 Golden Sword Upgrade, and the Bow and Arrow for the Silver Arrow Upgrade, which is required to beat the game. Optional and Required Preparations before Dark World Level 7: Come with full health, and magic. Make sure to bring at least ONE Healing Potion, and at least ONE Magic Potion. In other words dont come with any empty hearts, or an empty magic meter. Make sure you have at least 15 heart containers however, as they arent hard to get, and are very helpful ahead. Also, make SURE you have the magic usage magic meter, as youre going to use A LOT of magic in Dark World Level 7. Required Items for Dark World Level 7: Cane of Somaria Fire Rod Ice Rod Quake Medallion Magic Mirror How to get to Dark World Level 7: Go to Death Mountain. Either walk north close to the Lumberjack's House, or go to Area 1 by using your flute. Getting to Light World Level 3 is very simple. You go through one simple cave to get to Area 1, and climb the Mountain all the way to the Dark World Portal. From there walk onto the two flat circles, and use your Magic Mirror. Now, you're right next to Light World Level 3. That was the easy part. Now, we must go past Light World Level 3, and head for Dark World Level 7. Of course now Im going to explain how to head for Dark World Level 7 right now. Right now we are standing in front of Light World Level 3. From here go east onto the next screen. Go east on the wooden bridge. Now, pull out the Magic Hammer, and whack away at the pegs blocking us from going further east. Continue going east past the big rock, and cave. You should now see Turtle Rock. Lift the Black Rock out of the way, and climb onto the hill. If your looking to avoid the invincible monsters, Ive found lifting the rock from the south side is the safest way to go unhurt onto the hill. To bring up the Dark World Portal you must hit the East Peg, then the North Peg, and finally the West Peg in that order to bring up the Dark World Portal. If for some reason that is wrong you may have to leave, and come back for a different order. Anyways, once you've brought up the Dark World Portal step in it to arrive in the Dark World. In the Dark World you are standing on top of Dark World Level 7. To open Dark World Level 7 you must pull out your Quake Medallion, and use it on the Quake Medallion Insignia, which has its own little shrine directly above the entrance. Once you've finished that, the Turtle Head will disappear, and a doorway will appear. Walk through the doorway to enter Dark World Level 7. Dark World Level 7: Lift the east skull, walk over to the question mark, and use the Cane of Somaria (Red Cane) to make a platform to sit on. Now, walk back, and lift the west skull to heal your used magic. With that done stand on the platform, and ride it to the North Door. Now, go north, through the North Door. In this room use your Cane of Somaria on the question mark to make a platform to ride around the room on. A little advice: You can ride the platform in any direction the dotted lines go. If they overlap, and join you can go in many directions. If they overlap, but DON'T join you are forced around in an uncomfortable position. Be careful when you see rooms like this. This main room on this floor has six doors. The Southwest Door goes to the Dungeon Compass. The South-Southeast Door we just came in through. The East-Southeast Door is useless. The East-Northeast Door leads to a Small Key. The North-Northeast Door leads to a fairy, and magic healer in case you need to heal. The Northwest Door is locked, and once unlocked leads downstairs. Don't read this next part if you don't want the Dungeon Compass. To get the Dungeon Compass go to the southwest corner by moving west on the moveable platform, and go south, through the Southwest Door. Once, in this room, go quickly south, and open the chest for the Dungeon Compass. Now, use your Magic Mirror to be warped back to the Dungeon Entrance. Lift the east skull, make a platform on the question mark, lift the west skull for a magic healer, ride the platform north, and go north, through the North Door back into the main room on this floor. We need to go to the East-Northeast Door from here to get the Small Key. Make a platform on the question mark if you haven't already, and head east, to the northeast corner where the door on the east wall resides. Now, go east, through the East-Northeast Door. This room is one of the trickiest rooms in the dungeon, thats why this room has its own space just like the Dungeon Compass did. With this in mind follow my lead closely. Make a platform on the question mark. Before you start moving on the platform, pull out your Fire Rod. Also before you start: Keep in mind that this has to all be done quickly so that the North Door is open when you get off the platform near it. Another small advice before we begin: Try to follow each detail of my advice for this puzzle by pausing, and reading each piece of advice. After reading the advice, perform it, and pause the game again. In this way you can solve the puzzle on your first try. It also might help to read this puzzle thoroughly before trying to attempt it. We can now start solving this puzzle. BEGIN PUZZLE- 1: Go south down the dotted line. 2: At the turn you will go east. 3: When you see the dotted loop, in the southeast corner, go north to avoid it. 4: You will go north, and then will turn west. 5: Aim south, and light the Southeast torch from the north of it. 6: You will continue to go west, and will turn south, then east. 7: As you start going north, and west, light the Southwest Torch from the east of it. 8: You will now go north towards the north part of the room. 9: Aim east, and light the Northeast Torch from the west of it. 10: You will now turn west, avoid the small north loop by aiming west. 11: When in the middle of the loop aim south, and light the Northwest Torch from the north of it. 12: All four torches are light, and the North Door is open so get off the platform, and go north, through the North Door into the next room. Now, we can breath a sigh of relief, because that was the worst part of this whole dungeon. Now, let us go north, and try to hug the walls when you can to avoid being hit by the spiked rollers. Once at the north wall, lift the skull to heal your magic, and open the west chest to receive the Dungeon Map. Open the east chest to receive a Small Key. Now, go back south, and try not to get hit by a spiked roller. Now, go south, through the South Door. Now, that youre back in this difficult room you can just look at it rather then solve it, lucky you. Also, now you can lift the two skulls near the West Door, and can heal a heart, and all magic that was lost. From here, go west, through the West Door. Now, youre back in the main room again, but not for long. Make a platform on the question mark. If youre needing to heal either your health, or your magic; go north, through the North-Northeast Door. Inside is a magic healing potion, and a fairy. To continue, go to the Northwest Door. Once, there unlock it, and go north, through the Northwest Door. There is an enemy made out of lots of jelly blobs. The easiest way to kill it, is to unleash your sword beam if you have full health, but if you don't you will have to get close, and hope that when he starts breaking apart that he doesn't kill you, but without the sword beam you will lose some health, and might die too. Now, unlock the North Door with the Small Key the monster just gave you, and go north, through the North Door. Be careful in this room. Try not to get hit by the two Bow Wows. Use your Magic Boomerang, or Bow and Arrow to hit the west most crystal switch to make it blue. Make sure you're south of it. Now, walk to the west of the north most block to the left of the South Door. Push the block east to reveal a chest. Now, pull out your Magic Boomerang, or Bow and Arrow, and hit the crystal switch again so that you can reach the chest, but make sure you are north of the fallen blue barriers, so as not to trap yourself. Open the chest to receive a Small Key. Now, open the North Door with the Small Key, and go north, down the North Stairs to the floor below. You are now on B1. Head east, and go onto the platform to restock supplies if you want. Now, go south onto the southeast platform, and walk west into the Pipe. It will take you to the Northwest Door next to the Northwest Stairs we entered the room through. Lift the skulls to restock if you want, and go west, through the Northwest Door. There are two Pipes in this room to choose from. Lets start with the South Pipe first. Go in the South Pipe to end up at the West-Northwest Door. Now, go west, through the West-Northwest Door. First, make sure you race past the four moving magic spikes, and run past the fallen blue barrier. Now, use either your Magic Boomerang, or Bow and Arrow, and hit the Crystal to make it red, so that you can close off the four Magic Spikes so that they aren't in your way. Kill the 4 Jelly Blob Monsters to get a Small Key. Now, unlock the East Door with the Small Key, and go east, through the East Door. From here, step into the Pipe available at the door to arrive at the isolated middle platform. Open the chest to receive the Big Key. Now, walk into the South Pipe to arrive at the East-Southeast Door. Now, go east through the East-Southeast Door. Step into the only Pipe at this door to arrive at the middle platform. Lift the skull to fully heal your magic, and jump off the platform. From here, go to the southeast corner, climb onto the platform, and step west into the only Pipe available there to arrive at the Northwest Door. Now, go west, through the Northwest Door. From here take the North Pipe to arrive at the South-Southwest Door. Now, go south, through the South-Southwest Door. Lift any skulls in this room that you want, but don't lift the Southeast Skull. Kill BOTH 4 Jelly blobs, and don't get hit by them, or the beam shooting statue. Now, go south, through the South Door, or if you want to skip the Mirror Shield, and the Heart Piece go east through the East Door, and continue reading when I say START HERE. From the South Door you will arrive in a room with a West, and an East Door, go west, through the West Door. Lift any skulls in this room that you want, but avoid the beams coming from the eyes on the wall. Place a bomb on the cracks, on the south wall, walk away, let it explode, walk back, and go south, through the newly made South Door, to get outside. You are now outside. Walk east from here, along this ridge, to the East Door, which is east of us. If you want an easy Heart Piece read this next section. Walk to the indent next to the East Door, use your Magic Mirror, and walk north, through the North Door. Pull out your Bow and Arrow, and kill the green guy near the entrance beyond the fence by shooting his eye when he is awake. There are 3 green guy's left. Use your Magic Hammer to free two of them when they are asleep. Now, step back wait for them to wake up, and shoot them in the eye to kill them. Now, go to the northeast corner, and kill the last green guy when he is awake by shooting his eye with the Bow and Arrow. The North Door should now be open, so go north, through the North Door into the next room. In this room open the chest to receive a Heart Piece. Now, go south, through the South Door. In this room, go south through, the South Door to go back outside. From here, walk into the Magic Portal to get back to the Dark World. You are now back in the Light World. From here, go north, through the East Door to get into the room with the Big Chest. Use your Cane of Somaria to make a platform on the question mark, and open the Big Chest to receive the Mirror Shield. Now, go north, through the North Door. For those who skipped the Mirror Shield, and the Heart Piece START HERE. In this room unlock the North Door with the Big Key. Now, walk north, through the North Door. From here, walk west into the Pipe to arrive at the North-Northwest Door. Now, go north, through the North-Northwest Door. In this room you don't need to fight the 4 Jelly Blob. Place a bomb on the cracks on the North Wall to reveal the North Door, now go north, through the North Door. The East cracked wall reveals the East door, but doesn't lead to anything other then ALOT of money. Once through the North Door, step into the center of the room, and throw either your Magic Boomerang, or Bow and Arrow to hit the Crystal Switch, to make it blue. Now, open the chest to receive a Small Key. Pull out your Magic Boomerang, or Bow and Arrow, and hit the Crystal Switch again to make it red. Now, open the North Door to reveal the North Stairs. Now, go north, down the North Stairs to the floor below. You are now on B2. This room features the Second Hardest Puzzle in the Dungeon. Pull out your Cane of Somaria, and make a platform on the question mark. It looks complex, but its actually very easy. Go to the north part, and work your way to the center platform. Lift the skull to reveal a floor switch. Simply step on it to open the South Door. Now, get back on your platform, and work your way to the South Door in the southwest corner of the room. I know I didnt elaborate on EXACT movements through that field, but it really is quite simple, and wont waste magic like the other one did. The other one was only hard due to its wastefulness. Now, go south, through the South Door. This room is a good room to use either, your Pegasus Boots, your Magic Cape, or your Cane of Bryna to keep out of serious harm. I prefer the Cane of Bryna of the three. Once you reach the locked West Door you don't need to use any of those items anymore. Since we don't have a Small Key we must go south, through the South Door. This room is another good room to use either, the Pegasus Boots, Cane of Bryna, or Magic Cape to reach the South Door. Once you reach the cracks on the south wall it is a good idea to bomb them away to reveal the South Door, because the Door doesn't lead anywhere, but if you die from the boss you end up VERY close to him by using this door so its advisable to walk through it once. It leads outside, and when you save outside you restart outside at THIS door, NOT the entrance. Also, if you use the Magic Mirror to escape danger you get warped to THIS door rather then the Original Entrance so it is wise to walk through this door at least once. Now, open the south most chest to receive a Small Key, and open the other chests to receive rupees if you want them. Now, walk north, through the North Door. In this room go west to the West Door, and unlock it, now go west, through the West Door. Here is the Third Hardest Puzzle in the Dungeon. Its not hard at all though, which is obvious, because the previous puzzle was easy. Make the crystal blue, and walk into the north Blue Circle of fallen blue barriers. Now, walk north, into the blue circle with a blue crystal in it. Now, walk west into the mostly red circle next to it. Use your Magic Boomerang, or Bow and Arrow to make the Crystal to the East of you Red. Now, walk west into the next circle, and use your Magic Boomerang, or Bow and Arrow again, and hit the Crystal to the east of you again, to make it blue. Now, walk north, all the way to the North Stairs. Now, go north, down the North Stairs to the floor below. You are now on B3. Lift the east skull down here to heal a heart, make a platform with the Cane of Somaria on the question mark, lift the west skull to heal magic, and ride the platform north, to the North Door. Unlock the North Door with the Big Key, and go north, through the North Door to the Boss. Congratulations you have all 7 crystals now! Princess Zelda Text: I appreciate your coming so far to rescue me. As I thought, you are the legendary Hero. I have felt this from the first time we met. ... ... ... Ganon is inside of his tower, waiting to pass through the gate linking the two worlds. Once Ganon enters the Light World, it is unlikely that anyone can stop him. But if he is kept in the closed-off space of this world, you can find him wherever he runs. Now, take the seven crystals to Ganon's Tower! Our combined powers will break his barrier! Let us return peace to the country and smiles to the faces of the people! Do you understand? Yes. May the way of the Hero lead to the Triforce. Congratulations there is only one level left. That level is Ganon's Tower, also known as Dark World Level 8. There is no crystal there, or pendant. There are no maidens to rescue. All there is, is one bad man, and his army of minions inside the Tower to find. Congratulations on finishing Dark World Level 7. Now, get ready for one last level, just as I will get ready to write this guide for one last level. Dark World Level 8 Mentions: A few mentions before beginning the path of the end of the best Zelda game in existence. Dark World Level 8 is very hard. Not, after playing through a few times, but the first time is very hard. Recommendations before entering Dark World Level 8: Use red, or blue potions. DO NOT USE FAIRIES!!! Use at least one Red, or Blue Potion if not all four bottles of Red, or Blue Potions. Come with as many hearts as you can. 20 hearts are good, but try to come with at least 15 if you don't want all 20, or are too lazy to round up all 20. From my own experiences its easy to get 18, or 19 hearts, but there is 2 specifically hard heart pieces, so getting all 20 might seem hard, but its really not hard to get 19, and this level is hard enough, that you will need as many as you can get up ahead. Youll lose A LOT of health from almost everything in sight, so be prepared PLEASE!!! Get 1/2 Magic. It is not hard to get its in the Dark World at the Smith's House. Make SURE you have it. Seriously though, If you made it through Dark World Level 7 without this upgrade, I applaud you, congratulations, YOU are either extremely hardcore, lazy, or uniformed, because THAT is QUITE a feat! Optional Items: (Found Inside, and Outside Dark World Level 8) Not Required but VERY helpful. You already have all the Required Items, so here are the Optional Items. Level 3 / 4 Sword Mirror Shield Blue / Red Mail Bottles 1-4 How to get to Dark World Level 8: Same directions as How to get to Dark World Level 7. Climb Death Mountain. Go through Portal. Go to Light World. Go past Light World Level 3. Go across bridge. Go east. Go to the hill with the portal, and go through it to Dark World Level 7. If your playing GBA you can pull out your flute, and go to Warp 9. Go into the Dark World at the portal on the eastern hill. Now, that the Dark World Level 7 route spelled out, we can go to Dark World Level 8. Go west from the entrance of Dark World Level 7 a few screens. You should run past 3 scary beam shooting lions. Now, you should be in front of the Dark World Equivalent of Light World Level 3. This is Dark World Level 8. Your 7 crystals should come out, and make the barrier disappear, and reveal a staircase. Go inside to start Dark World Level 8. Dark World Level 8 Basics: Before we start exploring Dark World Level 8, I need to lecture you on Dark World Level 8. First, we need to trek deep into the basement as part 1. Then, we need to trek high onto the highest floor as part 2. Part 1 covers a huge Basement where you will find the Dungeon Compass, Dungeon Map, Big Key, and Red Mail. I will skip the Dungeon Map, and or Dungeon Compass, as one is on the East Route, and the other on the West Route. Part 1 has the Light World Level 1 Upgraded Boss. Part 2 is a lot like climbing Light World Level 3, and The Light World Castle, except its a lot bigger, and harder. In Part 2 we will fight the Light World Level 2 Upgraded Boss, the Light World Level 3 Upgraded Boss, and the Upgraded Aghanim from the Light World Castle. Dark World Level 8 mostly just tests your endurance, and patience. Now, read on to the 1st Floor Basics. 1st Floor Basics: To begin, look around, see how fancy, and huge this Entrance Room is? Yes, it is very awesome. We are actually on the 2nd Floor. This is the Entire 2nd Floor also. There is the Middle North Stairs going to the 3rd Floor. The West-North Stairs that goes to the 1st Floor, and the East-North Stairs that goes to the room next to the room that the West-North Stairs goes to which also goes to the 1st Floor. This is where we can trick the design of the Dungeon Layout. The West, and East Stairs go to rooms connected by a locked door. Like this # / #. These two rooms are connected side by side with a locked door in-between. The West-North Stairs lead to the West Room. The East-North Stairs lead to the East Room. The West Room has the Small Key to unlock the door between the two rooms, but we don't need to unlock that locked door, because the East-North Stairs goes to the next room beyond the locked door. Also the 1st Floor is a VERY BIG Floor, and is divided into TWO paths. The path leading off the West Room, and a path leading off the East Room. The East Room leading east snags you the Big Key, Dungeon Item, and Dungeon Compass. The West Room leads you to the Dungeon Map, Big Key, and Dungeon Item, so we can skip half of the floor by not going through the East, or the West Paths, depending on which path you would rather go through. Also we can go down into the West Room take the Small Key, and go down the path of the East Room, or we can go down into the West Room, and go down the West Path without ever opening the door between the two rooms, or ever going into the East Room at all it gets an easy Small Key that way, but for those who want to traverse the East Path, Im going to have an East Path Mini-Guide as well, as I know there is bound to be people who want to traverse both paths. Dark World Level 8: We are taking the West Route on the 1st Floor, but there is also an East Route that we could take. I will cover both routes. I will show the West Route first, as its the easier route, but If you would like to do the harder route do ctrl f, and search for east route (harder route):. This applies for both routes. You are in the Entrance Room. Go west down the West-North Stairs to the floor below. West Route (Easier Route): You are now on the 1st Floor. Charge into the Second Torch to shake off the Small Key. Now, take the Small Key, and go west through the West Door. In this room kill, or avoid the Green Jellyfish with the Hook Shot. Grab the Skull in the South East Corner, and throw it to receive a second Small Key. Now, use your Magic Hammer on the pegs to peg three of them down. With three down push the block off the middle to step on the Magic Tile this will open the West Door. Now, go west through the West Door. From the doorway use your Hook Shot to reach the block directly west of us. Remove the skull, go to the west side of this platform, and use the Hook Shot to reach a block directly south of here. From this spot use the Hook Shot to reach a block directly east of here. Now, hug the east wall, and use the Hook Shot to reach a block directly south of here. This part is bit trickier use the Hook Shot in the middle of the room, while facing south, and avoiding the skeleton, and moving spike. This should Hook Shot you onto two skulls directly south of here. While in this room still dont go north through the North Door, or East through the South East Room. The North Room, has nothing, and the East Room has only a Dungeon Map, but trust me we dont need it. If you want the Dungeon Map unlock the South East Door, and go inside that room to get the Dungeon Map. Im not going to cover it, because its not necessary to have it. Make sure the Blue Walls are up when you go through the South Door. To make this happen whack the Blue Crystal to make it Blue, place a bomb next to it run across the blue wall, and wait till the bomb explodes to re-raise the Blue Wall. Now, go south, through the South Door. Before you touch the Crystal Switch in this room go south, and grab the Small Key below the South Skull, now you have three Small Keys. This room can be tricky, with the Red Walls down go to the two Blue Crystal Switches, and place a bomb next to the West One, while facing north, but dont place the bomb on top of the crystal switch this way it will explode once, not twice. Before it explodes get across the Red Wall before it raises back up. Now, go east, through the East Door. Theres nothing special about this room hit the Blue Crystal Switch to make it red, and run onto the warp to be warped to a different room. Use either the Hook Shot, Boomerang, Bow and Arrow, or sword to hit it. Now, stand on the warp to be warped to a different area. In this room, go west until you spot a single block not touching another block. Push, this block west to reveal a chest. Now, use you Hook Shot to reach the chest. Now, go south, and use a Small Key to unlock the South Door. Now, go south through the South Door into the next room. In this room you can see two readily available warps. Use the East Warp unless you want to reach the cracked wall leading to a small fill up room. Anyways use the East Warp to continue. In this second room lift the two skulls, and step on the West Warp to go back to the previous room. Now, go to the south west corner, and step on the South Warp to warp to the second room. Now, youre almost free go east, while avoiding the holes, and killing the monsters. Now, step on the North Warp to warp to a room I had us avoid earlier. Now, step on the other warp to warp back to the second room. In this room go east, through the East Door. Now, youve done it youve reached the junction point between the two paths, now, the two paths are over. This room is the end of the two paths. Now, skip through the East Route Section below to Continue reading. END OF WEST ROUTE- East Route (Harder Route): You are now on the 1st Floor. Charge into the Second Torch to shake off the Small Key. Now, take the Small Key, and go up the North Stairs to the Floor above. You are now on the 2nd Floor. You are back in the Entrance Room. Go east down the North-East Stairs, to the floor below. Open the two chests for bomb, and arrow supplies if needed. Dont pull the lever, as exploding bombs will fall. Don't open the locked West Door. Lift the east skull for a magic healer if needed. Lift the west skull to reveal a floor switch. Pull out your Cane of Somaria, and make a block on top of the floor switch to open the East Door. Now, go east, through the East Door. This room is VERY clever. Either you can use your Small Key on the East Door, or you can wait until the tiles are gone, and grab a second Small Key. Don't hide in the door, or the Wall Master will get you. Don't use your sword, or the beam shooting statues will get you. Don't get hit by the magic spike, or you will lose magic. Don't get hit by the flying tiles, or you will lost health. My advice is to pace up, and down on the east part of the room, so as to avoid all enemies. Once the tiles are all gone, open the chest to receive a Small Key. Now, open the East Door, and go east, through the East Door. In this room kill the Zombie, the Red Skeleton, and the two Green Jellyfish to get them out of the way. Watch out for the Beam Shooting Statue, the Spike, and the Wall Master though. This room has a North Door, a North-West Door, a South-West Door, and a South Door. Naturally, one door you come in through, and two other doors are useless. We need to go through the South Door. To get it open we must light all four torches in this room. Start from the far north torch, and work your way down to the south most one, then go south through the South Door. If you have all the enemies mentioned above out of the way it shouldn't be too hard. Use your Fire Rod also, because the Lamp is too slow. It could work though. Don't be afraid to use the moving floor to light the second torch. It may be slower, but you save more time then trying to fight past the spike. Now, if you haven't already, go south, through the South Door. This room can be tricky, and may take a bunch of bombs until you get the hang of it. First, pull out a bomb, and throw it with R onto the moving floor to turn the Crystal Blue. Repeat beyond the Barrier, and make the Crystal Red. Now, go west through the West Door. In this room there is a warp tile, a blue monster, and a red monster. Open the Northwest Chest to receive the Dungeon Compass. The other three chests give rupees, and arrows. Now, step into the warp tile to land in a different room to the northwest of the original area of rooms, but still on this floor. In this room, go east along the moving floor, and step on the star switches to change the floor layout. Now, walk on the second moving floor, and hit the second set of star switches to change the floor layout again. Walk into the north alcove, and lift the east skull to get a second Small Key. Now, go east onto the third moving floor, and step on the third star switches to change the layout of the floor a third time. Now, go east, through the East Door. This room is very simple. All you need to do is pull out your Cane of Bryna, or Magic Cape, wear either one, and get to the other side of the room. If you don't have either one, you can try, and dodge the flame string, and spikes. It is tricky, but can be done. Once youre done, go west, through the Southwest Door. This room shouldn't need explanation. Go to the west side of the room, pull the statue far south to reveal a star switch. Step on it to reveal a bridge. Walk across, and step on the warp tile to go somewhere else in the dungeon, but still on this floor. You are now to the far southeast of the room you were just in, and south of the original set of rooms. To get to the West Door simply walk straight west, from the warp tile, to the West Door. Don't worry its invisible floor. If you freak out you can light the unlighted torch to make the invisible floor visible. Once across, go west, through the West Door. END OF EAST ROUTE- This room is quite big compared to most of the previous rooms. It also is a connecting room that connects the West Path, and the East Path. Before anything else, get rid of as many monsters as you can in this room. From here, go to the Northwest door, without going through it, and light the torch to the east of it. Now, go south, and go to the end of the path blocked by skulls. Lift the skulls, and run down the limited time visible floor until you reach the Northeast Door next to the torch. By that time it will probably be unlighten. Once your done go north through the Northeast Door. This room is pretty simple. Pull out a bomb, and place it on the southeast cracks to make a hole in the floor. Jump in the hole to go to the floor below. You are now on B1. This is the first boss fight. The battle is now over. Now, go north through the North Door. In this room open the middle chest to get the Big Key. Open the other chests to get Bombs, and Arrow refills. Now, go south through the South Door. In this room go west through the West Door. This room gives you the option between going upstairs, or bombing open the North Door to get a fairy refill. If you want a health refill bomb the north wall if not go upstairs. Now, after your decision, go north, up the North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on the 1st Floor. In this room open the Big Chest for the Red Mail, but if you don't want it you don't have to take it. It will cut existing damage received by monsters with the Blue Mail in half though. Now, after making a decision with the Big Chest go north, through the North Door. This is the West Room we left behind long ago. From here go north, up the North Stairs to the floor above. END OF PART I OF DARK WORLD LEVEL 8- You are now on the 2nd Floor, which is also the Entrance Room. In this room go up the Middle-North Stairs to the floor above. You are now on the 3rd Floor. To get across pull out your Magic Boomerang, or Bow and Arrow, and hit the Crystal to make it blue. Now, walk along the fallen blue barrier west, and hit the Crystal with your sword to make it red. Lift up the skull, and toss it on the Crystal to make it blue. Walk onto the solid ground, and push the north block south to open the South Door. Now, walk back to the Crystal, and slash it to make it red. Now, walk as far south as you can go, turn back, and hit the Crystal with your Magic Boomerang, or Bow and Arrow to make it blue. Now, go south through the South Door. This room requires you to kill the two red monsters with the Bow and Arrow. Dont be afraid to use the statue as cover from the spike though. Once, theyre dead go east, through the East Door. Once again pull out your Bow and Arrow, and kill the two red monsters to open the North Door. Now, go north, through the North Door. In this room open the North Door with your Big Key, and go north, through the North Door. This next room requires you to hit the Floor Switch guarded by monsters at the far north of the room. Hit the Crystal Switch to make it red, go north to the 3 skulls, and lift the middle skull to reveal the Floor Switch. Now, step on the Floor Switch to make the East Door open. Now, head to the upper floor, and go east, through the East Door. This room is best to use the Cane of Bryna, or the Magic Cape, but you can use the Pegasus Boots also to get to the other side. There is a recovery room to the south of this point. If you run into the blocks you will bounce to the South Door. This door leads to a room with fairies, and Magic Potions to heal you. Once you're done head up the North Stairs, to the floor above. You are now on the 4th Floor. In this room kill the four monsters to open the West Door. Now, go west, through the West Door. This room requires you to kill the 3 Red Skeletons to open the South Door. Do so, and go south, through the South Door. This room also forces you to kill the 3 blue monsters to open its door, the South Door. Now, go south, through the South Door. This room requires you to kill the 2 Red Monsters to open the South Door do so, and go south, through the South Door. In this room kill the 2 red Monsters to open the West Door. Now, go west, through the West Door. In this room go west, through the West Door. Now, go north, through the North Door. In this room go north, up the North Stairs, to the floor above. You are now on the 5th Floor. This room is tricky. Kill all 3 Wizrobes to open the South Door, but you may need to use the Ether Medallion to see your way around. Hint: Walk towards the west wizrobe, than the south wizrobe to the door, and hit the east wizrobe last. Once they're all dead go south, through the South Door. This room is a breeze, kill the two pigs, and head through the Northeast Door. In this room, kill the 4 Wizrobes to unlock the North Door. Now, go north, through the North Door. In this room kill any monsters in your way, and go east, through the East Door. Here is the first of two annoying puzzles in the dungeon, and both of them are back to back, cheers! Remove all skulls before trying anything. Light the Four Torches in this order. Light the North Torch, then the East Torch, then the South Torch, then the West Torch. Do this in a typical Clockwise lighting session. Pull out your Fire Rod, and walk to the block in the middle, and light each torch while avoiding the Fire String. Once all the Torches have been light go east, through the now open East Door. This room is the room you will land in if you can't solve the second of the two annoying puzzles. Lift the Northeast Skull if you want to fully heal your magic. Now, go up the Middle Stairs to the floor above. You are now on the 6th Floor. Pull out your Fire Rod again, and light the Torches in Clockwise Motion again. Light the Southeast Torch, then the Southwest Torch, then the Northwest Torch, and finally the Northeast Torch to open the North Door. Now, go north, through the North Door. In this room, kill the monsters for a Small Key if you want one. Now, go west, through the West Door by using a Small Key on it, and walking through it. In this room place a bomb on the cracked south wall to reveal the South Door. Now, go south, through the South Door. Open the chest in the middle of the room to receive a Small Key. To get to the chest hit the Crystal Switch once with your sword to make it red, step beyond the fallen red barrier, hit the Crystal again to make it blue, step beyond the fallen blue barrier, and open the chest. Now, step beyond the fallen blue barrier to the Crystal, hit it with your sword to make it red, and step outside the Ring of Barriers. Now, open the South Door, and go south, through the South Door. Now, pull out your Hook Shot, and swing onto the chest to the south of you. Now, move the blocks, and go west, through the West Door. This room is simple, just carefully head north, to the North Stairs. Now, go north, up the North Stairs to the floor above. This is the last floor the 7th Floor, and the second to last room. This room is empty. Open the North Door with your Big Key, and prepare yourself for Agahnim. Upgraded Boss 4: Light World Castle Boss: Agahnim Upgrade: He has two clones that can't be hurt, or killed, and shoot fireballs at you. Agahnim Text: Ho ho ho! It's great that you could come all the way here, (Your Name). And while I'm very happy to see you again... you'd better believe that we will not have a third meeting! Prepare to meet your doom! Congratulations! Agahnim is dead! Ganon has escaped, but put himself in a great place for you to stop him, and kill him! Now, bring about Ganon's Doom! The Final Battle with Ganon: Ganon has turned into a bat, and smashed into the top of the Pyramid of Power! Now, that he has cornered himself, and made a huge hole to reach him through you must jump in after him, and destroy him! Before you jump in after Ganon make sure you have at least 2 bottles to heal you full of either Fairies, Red Potions, or Blue Potions, and one Green Potion to accompany Two Red Potions. It doesnt hurt to have 4 full bottles of healing supplies either. Plus, make sure you have full health, and full magic before you jump in! Pyramid of Power Boss: Ganondorf Prince of Darkness Before he talks run in, and do a single cheap shot! Ganon Text: I never imagined a boy like you could give me so much trouble. It's unbelievable that you defeated my alter ego, Agahnim the Dark Wizard, twice! But I will never give you the Triforce. I will destroy you and make my wish to conquer both Light and Dark Worlds come true without delay. Ganon Text Part II: You are doing well, lad. But can you break through this secret technique of Darkness? En garde! Congratulations! You have now beaten Ganon, and after the credits you will have beaten A Link to the Past as well! Triforce Essence Text: Welcome, (your name)... I am the Essence of the Triforce. ... ... ... The Triforce will grant the wishes in the heart and mind of the person who touches it. If a person with a good heart touches it, it will make his good wishes come true... If an evil-hearted person touches it, it grants his evil wishes. The stronger the wish, the more powerful the Triforce's expression of that wish. Ganon's wish was to conquer the world. That wish changed the Golden Land into the Dark World. After building up his power, Ganon planned to go on to the Light World to fulfill his wish. But now that Ganon has been destroyed, his Dark World will surely vanish. The Triforce is waiting for a new master. Its Golden Power is in your hands... Now, touch it and think of the wish in your heart. ... ... ... ... (After endless amounts of Credits, Credits Part I, Part II, and Part III.) Congratulations on beating A Link to the Past! VIII: Four Swords Dungeon Walkthrough Congratulations on beating A Link to the Past! Congratulations on beating Four Swords! You now have access to the Four Swords Dungeon! Four Sword Dungeon Optional and Required Items: Get all 20 Heart containers (Or at least as many as you can get) (Optional) Get four Blue Cure - All Medicines in your 4 bottles. (Optional) Get a Golden Sword (Optional) Cane of Somaria (Required) Pegasus Shoes (Required) Bow and Arrow (Required) Magic Hammer (Required) 20 Rupees (Required) Beat ALTTP (Required) Beat FS (Required) How to get to the Four Swords Dungeon: You are very close. You have beaten Ganon recently, so you should be in the Dark World, and on the Pyramid of Power. If you are not, make sure to head there. The Pyramid of Power has 3 levels of floor to it. Level 3 is the hole with Ganon. Level 2 has two sets of stairs. Level 1 has the door to the Four Swords Dungeon, the door to the Great Fairy that gives the Golden Sword, and a door that leads to the basement of Ganons Room. The door to the Four Swords Dungeon is on the far right of the lowest level of the Pyramid near the ground. To reach it you must go to the second level, and jump off the indent on the far southeast corner to the first level. From here, simply walk through the door into the Four Swords Dungeon. Four Swords Dungeon: Walk up to the guard, and pay him 20 Rupees. He will leave if you have beaten A Link to the Past, and Four Swords. If you have not beaten both of them he will not leave. When the guard is gone, go north, through the North Door, and avoid the Six Bow Wow's. In this main room there are Two Skeleton Knights, Four Red Skeletons, Two Blue Lizards, and Four Red Lizards. They are just an annoyance so ignore them. The North Door is blocked with electricity. To get past the electricity, you must get all Four Swords. A sword is in each of the other four doors in this room. Two doors are on this floor the other two are stairs that go to the floor below. There is no map, so you can't keep track of the state of things. Each door has a room with a puzzle, a second room with a previous Dark World Boss made harder with upgrades put upon them, and a third room with a shrine holding a Four Sword. Once you have all Four Swords walk up to the North Door, and it will open for you to reveal a Four Swords Room. Inside this room is a place to put the Four Swords. They will then turn into Four Links using skills that Link knows against him. They fight one after another each one harder then the last. The Dark World Bosses that are upgraded that we have to re-fight are Dark World Level 1-4's Boss's. The first boss is in the Southwest Door. The second boss is in the Southeast Door. The third boss is in the Northwest Door. The fourth boss is in the Northeast Door. To start off in this room, go west, through the Southwest Door. Pull out your Fire Rod, and hit the unlighted torch. Now, swim north as fast as you can. Remember to hit B to duck under the obstacles to avoid getting trapped without wasting time getting hit. When you get across, go north, through the North Door. Once, he is dead, go north, through the North Door. Step on the Shrine, and pull the Green Sword out with R. Now, step through the portal in the northeast corner. Congratulations on collecting the first sword of four. If you are like me, you only have one Blue Potion left, and need to drink it to make that sword beam work. Don't worry this is normal. This is my fourth time in this dungeon, and every time I have to restock on supplies after each boss. Continue reading, or stop for a quick minute, and restock the supplies, your choice. As we are in the Main Room, and we have cleared out the first of four doors the next door is the Southeast Door. With that in mind, go east, through the Southeast Door. As soon as you walk into the room the tiles surrounding the little peninsula surrounding a block will fall away. Kill, or avoid the four Green Jellyfish, and kill the Red monster. Now, charge at the north side of the block, and you will land directly in front of the North Door. Once, you get there, go north, through the North Door. As you can plainly see, the second boss has TWO rooms protecting him. In this second room lift the skull to the left of you. Then go north of where the skull used to be, pull out your Magic Boomerang, or Bow and Silver Arrow, and hit the crystal switch on the far side of the moving floor to make it blue, this will pull down the blue barriers. Step on the blue tile push the block south of you one step. Now, walk a step east, and push the east block east a step. Now, push the north block north a step. Pull out your Magic Hammer, pound the ground, and kill the turtle with your sword. You are almost done, now is the tricky part, pull out your Cane of Somaria, and make a block on the moving floor. Keep in mind you will have to lift it with R, and throw it with R to get it onto the moving floor. As it nears the Blue Crystal Switch use the Cane of Somaria again to turn the block into four beams one should hit the crystal switch to make it red, which will bring down the red barrier blocking the North Door. Now, since youre done, go north, through the North Door. If you thought that was easy you were right. I still have 4 Blue Potions left to use. Now, head north, through the North Door. Step onto the Shrine, and pull out the Red Sword with R. With the Second of Four Swords in hand, go northwest onto the northwest warp to warp back to the Main Entrance Room. The Third Sword is in the Northwest Door, when you are ready head on in there. The first room is easy. Kill the two monsters on the ice, and go east, through the East Door. The Second room reminds me a lot of Dark World Level 3, because it had a similar room only a little more organized. Step onto the unavoidable Star Switch's, and make your way over to the Southwest corner by swinging yourself onto the Southeast corner's skull, with your Hook Shot. Lift it, and step on its spot. Now, Hook Shot west, onto a star switch. Lift up the skull to the west of you, and Hook Shot west into the Southwest corner. Lift the skull that you just Hook Shot to, to reveal a Floor Switch. Use the Cane of Somaria to make a block on top of the Floor Switch. Now, the North Door is open. Walk east onto the Floor Switches east of you. From here, walk north, into the skulls to the north of you that are sitting east of two Star Switches. Get off those two skulls, and get rid of the two in front of the North Door. Now, go north, through the North Door. This Boss has THREE rooms protecting it. To get to the North Door make sure the red barrier is up, and throw a bomb onto the crystal switch from the south, and quickly go down the stairs, and west to get over the invisible blue barrier before it goes back up. Now, go north, through the North Door. This didn't take me very long, and I still have all four Blue Potions. Once, Mothula II is dead, head north, through the North Door. Walk onto the Shrine, and use R to lift the Blue Sword out, and keep it. You now have three of the Four Swords. Now, step onto the northeast warp to warp back to the Main Entrance Room. I suggest before attempting the fourth door, with the fourth boss, to make sure that you have full health, and four bottles of Blue Potion with you. Why do I want you to be prepared? Its because the fourth boss is a battle with Blind the Thief II. Blind the Thief II is much harder then the previous 2 bosses combined. The first boss isn't as tough as Blind the Thief II, but it gives you a good taste of it. If you are ready continue reading. The Fourth Boss Blind the Thief II is in the Northeast Door. In this first room kill or avoid the 5 shield eating monsters, and head east through the East Door. This room looks tricky, but its actually very easy. Kill the one monster. Throw the only skull on your piece of floor. Pull out your Bow and Silver Arrow, break the skulls on the platform with the North Door, and the skull stuck on the east wall. Now, make a block with your Cane of Somaria, and throw it onto the Floor Switch to your east, to open the North Door. Now, head north, through the North Door. This is room number three. Pull out your Hook Shot, and use it to kill all the keese. Many of them will give you hearts, fairies and magic so heal up. If you don't kill them all it doesn't matter. Now, Hook Shot to the center platform, and go to the north side of the block in the middle of it, and Run into it with your Pegasus Boots to bounce to the far platform containing the North Door. Now, simply go north, through the North Door. Upgraded Boss 4: Dark World Level 4 Boss: Blind the Thief II Upgrade: Now, requires you to knock his heads back into place on his shoulders Phase 1: Talk with his Uncle disguise. Blind the Thief II Text: Uhhnn... (Your Name)... I didn't want you involved in this... I told you not to leave home. You must rescue Princess Zelda... You are... the princess's... ... ... ... First, he was a maiden, now Links Uncle. Who cares who he thinks he is, kill him quick. Good, we are done with all four Boss upgrades, and have all Four Swords. Now, go north, through the North Door, and grab the Purple Sword to complete the Four Swords collection. Step onto the northwest warp to be warped back to the entrance room for the last time before fighting the Four Links. You may want to heal all your hearts, and fill up any empty bottles before your fight with the Four Links I had a few hearts to heal, but I took care of it to make sure not to lose my head to the Four Links. Now, on we go to the final encounter with the Four Links. First, we start in the main room with 6 doors branching off of it. In this room we now go to the middle platform to kill the two Skeleton Knights guarding it, and slash the electric bat guarding the North Door that leads to the Four Sword Shrine Room. Now, go north, through the North Door. In this room a pathway is revealed. Part of it is visible, most invisible. Head down it, and go north, through the North Door. When you enter the music will stop. Walk into the center where the symbol of the Four Swords is. Now, your hard earned Four Swords will go to their individual tiles, and disappear. Four Links similar to you will come up, and show their skill one at a time. Now, with the 5 bosses dead, and the Four Swords captured, you have beaten the Four Swords Dungeon. Congratulations on beating the Four Swords Dungeon! Enjoy the Bonus Ending! Pay attention so you can catch a glimpse of your item usage in the game. Now, you can find out how many times you used your sword, and Hook Shot, ect. IX: End Guess what? Do you believe it, I have finally after 4 days short of two entire years, finished my ALTTP Walkthrough! I have had many hard times, and felt overwhelmed at other times, but I had fun through, and through with the writing of this Walkthrough. I started this Walkthrough almost two year ago, because I felt that I knew, and loved ALTTP enough that I could spread my knowledge to others who hadn't yet built up the knowledge I had. In this way I started my mission to pass on my ALTTP knowledge to others, so that maybe one day they could pass their knowledge to others just as I have to them, and others did to me! Now, that I am done on my ALTTP Walkthrough I still feel like writing, so I strongly believe that one day soon that I will write a MC Walkthrough, or even an LOZ Walkthrough, as they are easy, short, and fun games that I would love to write Walkthroughs for. Thank you to all who journeyed with me through the creation of this guide, and thank you also to all those who have sent fan mail to me regarding this Walkthrough, and lastly thank you to all those who chose to use my Walkthrough over the countless other great walkthroughs out there. Its appreciation like this that will encourage me to write other Zelda Walkthroughs. |
