Trust - - - - - "I want this area sealed off" detective Marsden yelled to the uniformed officers. He turned back to Peter Church who was angry beyond recognition. "They should be scouting the area" Peter ordered the more senior officer. "Don't yell at me son". The detective watched as a man in police overalls picked up the 9mm Pistol that lay on the concrete. They placed it in a clear evidence bag and sealed it up. "Looks like she didn't even see him coming". "Don't assume there was someone else in the picture" Peter said. Even though he knew himself that there could be no other explanation. "Listen son" The detective stepped in. "I understand you are worried about your boss, but I assure you we will find her. We are good at what we do". Peter looked over to Oscar who was talking to another detective. He was obviously saddened and Peter could see the guilt even from a distance, the Stone was feeling. Peter got in his car and drove off. Leaving a trail of smoke and rubber behind him. He needed to let off some steam. Images of Ellen flashed through his mind. Her smile. He laugh. The warmth she brought into the room when she entered. And then. Images of her body. Bloody. Crippled. Then he saw Prescott's eyes. Reflected within them was Ellen's Face. Alone. Scared. * * * * Ellen looked deep into the eyes of the man that had taken away her freedom. Her safety. She felt as though she was lost. She was still confused to the blow she had received. But she knew well enough to know she wasn't with her team. "Ah, the pig wakes" Prescott growled. He was staring at Ellen as she came to. They were facing each other. Eye to eye. He stepped back. Ellen was sitting on the cold hard floor of what appeared to be a large, luxury house. Of course she thought to herself. Where else would any self respecting bad guy setup shop? Ellen wondered why she was still alive. Or why she wasn't tied up? Or gagged. "Welcome to my home detective" the man said. "I hope your stay is most relaxing". "W...What do you want" Ellen asked. "What do I want?" The man retorted. "What could I possibly want?" he asked. "I have everything I want right here" he said as he raised his arms and indicated that he was happy with everything around him. "Do you realise you are holding an officer...." Ellen started to explain. "I don't want to hear you little speeches Miss piggy" he interrupted. "Go on. Tell me it's not too late. That you can help me". "I can't help you. And it's way too late" Ellen spat back. It seemed to wipe the smile off his face, for half a second. "And before you know it, there will be fifty other cops in here. And they don't like it when drug dealers, take hostages. Because they know, you are all unstable. So they shoot first and ask questions later". "You're not scaring me piggy" he moaned. "I'm not a scary cop" Ellen spat back. "No" he replied. "You are most definitely not". He looked at her for a moment. As Ellen started to regret saying that last line. She wondered what her fate was. Obviously this guy was very violent. And obviously he was unstable. * * * * Peter Church sat in Ellen's office. Looking over her case file. He racked his brain trying to come up with something he could use. Why would he take a hostage? What is it he wants? Does he actually want something? * * * * "My name's Peter" in case you didn't already investigate me enough. "I know who you are" Ellen replied. "You do?" "I know, more than you do" She replied. "Well, I wouldn't be surprised. I'm a pretty screwed up guy you know?" "So what do you want from me?" Ellen rephrased her earlier question. "Well Miss Piggy, I need you to give me one thing" he said. "What?" He knelt down in front of her. "When I was a kid. My dad used to beat up on me" he started. Ellen's heart began to sink. She knew this couldn't be a good story. With a happy ending. "Everyday. I would come home from school. And he would be there waiting for me. He'd beat on me for everything. Do you know what it's like to have someone. Your own father. Scare the living SHIT out of you?" he asked. "Well, one day. After maybe five years of this shit. I couldn't take it anymore. So I ran away from home. But deep down inside. I could still feel his fist. I could still hear him yell at me. And I saw his eyes. Every night I cried myself to sleep. Until, I decided, I need it to all stop". He looked around. "It stopped" he snapped. "Just like that?" "You really think, years of pain and suffering stops just like that?" he asked. "Lovely lady, noting stops, Just...Like....That!" he said proudly. "I found my father. The PRICK!. I found him. And gave him what he deserved" He smiled. Ellen gulped back her terror. "It was slow and painful". He said. "And it stopped the nightmares". "What does that have to do with me"? Ellen asked. "Well, now aren't we in a hurry to get to the fun part". "I was never one to fuck around" Ellen said. "Ooh such Language. I like that". "Tell me what you want". "Well, now, see. You and your friend. The big guy? Well, you have caused me all sorts of grief. I'm afraid, the nightmares are going to come back to haunt me". Ellen didn't like where this was heading. She feared for her life. And for Church. "So I need to give him what he deserves. Or I'm afraid the nightmares may return". "He's not your dad Peter". "And I'm happy you say that. I know he's not my dad. That son of a bitch is rightfully six feet under. But you hurt me just like daddy did. And I don't like that very much". "So what are you going to do? Chase him down for the rest of your miserable life?" "No. Actually. You are going to tell me where he is". "Over my dead body" Ellen spat back. "It wont happen. I don't kill girl cops" he smiled. "Only big bastard male cops who deceive me!"
