The team were there but most of them were pretty quiet. Ellen McKenzie wondered what drugs her team were on, because under normal circumstances they would be making a hell of a lot more noise. Especially at the start of the week. Excitement was high. Adrenaline glands were getting ready. The team knew that each day at work was a new one. Most people dreaded the thought of Monday mornings. But this factory was different. Mac, as the team call her, entered the meeting room. To be greeted warmly by her team. There was Stone. A young male. Enthusiastic and very good at what he did. Then there was Danni Mayo. The newest member who was still coming to terms with being an undercover operative. She fit in well, but still had a lot to learn. And, Angie Piper. A young lady who takes the word dedication to the extreme. More than serious. Smart and strong. A good Cop. Then Church. The most senior member of the team. Extremely loyal. Very dedicated. And more than tough enough to be an undercover agent. Mac was proud to call them her team. In fact they were her family. She could take anything to them, and trust them with her life. And they knew they could trust her. "OK guys" Mac started. Probably the same opening sentence she used at every meeting. "Welcome back. I trust you all had a great two days off". "It was hell" Peter called out. "Living Hell". "Well Pete I know how much of a workaholic you are" Mac retorted sarcastically. "But you will all be pleased to know we have a great case to work on this week" she said. "I'm sure you have all heard of The Cave" she started to explain. "It's a bar in the southern suburbs of Melbourne, that is known to be a hot spot for dealers". "The Cave?" Danni a asked. "That's right. Have you heard of it?" "Well, yeah I have" Danni said a little too enthusiastically. "Well, I mean, yes. I have heard of it" she said, trying not to let the other know that she is a regular. "I'm sure you have just heard of it kid" Pete said. "We have a hot tip off that there is going to be a big exchange this week. And Pete is going in right in the middle of it". "Pete looks like a big druggo" Stone smirked. "Well, our dealer doesn't know what the buyer looks like. Only that he's big, and powerful". "That leaves Stoney out of the running" Pete quipped. "Hey I'm big" Stoney defended himself. "Angie will be at the Bar, and Danni, as usual, a patron of the club. Oscar and I will be on surveillance" Mac explained. "Are there any questions?" There was a silence. You can all pic up case files from my desk. And guys. No hero stuff. I want good, straight forward Policing on this one". * * * * * "Mr Glasgo" the young blonde man said to Pete. "You must be the illustrious Peter Prescott" Pete replied. "The one and only". The blonde man was very gruff looking. Like a hundred bullets would bounce off his skin. Like fire would melt away only the top layer of his flesh, but bring forward a more ugly and fierce monster. Even Pete could see the monster behind the man. His deep voice was odd, for such a small person. His blue eyes were deep. But inside were oceans of unpleasant sights. This was a guy you didn't want to mess with. And Peter Church was playing him. The ultimate deception. "You should know, that i don't Fuck around Glasgo". "I want my money. You can have your prize and we'll be on our way". "Where's the merchandise?" Pete Asked. Prescott smiled. "Can I Call you Martin?" "My Name's Mark" Pete Replied. "I like Martin" Prescott spat back. "Look you can call me Confusions if you like buddy. I just came for one reason". "Likewise Martin". "So where is it?" "It's safe". "It should be in my hands". "Where's my money?" "In my car". "When I see the cash. You get the stash". "Sounds reasonable". "Lets take a look at this money"! * * * * * "OK guys" Mac said. "We are ready for the sting" she said to her group via radio. "I want radio silence until we get the word from Pete". A quiet moment felt like an hour for Mac. One of her operatives was out there. "Wow, that's a lot of dope" Pete said. Loud and clear. Mac and Stone opened the van door and ran towards the drop point. They watched from behind a parked truck as Pete picked up a briefcase from the boot of a black car. They made their move. It was precise. Very professional. By the book. But Prescott wasn't a very by the book man. He slipped away before Mac or Oscar could do anything. They both gave chase. Leaving Pete behind. Both operatives were armed but did not un-holster their weapons. For all they knew they were chasing an unarmed man. They ran fast. First was Peter Prescott. He was swift. Then he was followed by Oscar Stone. And then Ellen Mckenzie. The chased him through a darkened alley and behind large buildings, until they came to a T intersection. Oscar stopped. Mac stopped right behind him, and took her 9mm Glock Pistol from it's holster on her left hip. She indicated for Stoney to cover her, while she made her move around the corner of the building. Stone Backed up against the Building wall and took his pistol from it's holster also. He aimed it at Mac. As Mac Crept around to the back of the building. It was clear. She inhaled deeply. Relieved. "I can't believe that prick got away from us" Stoney said. Pretty angered. "How could we let this happen?" "The guy's a snake Mac" Oscar said, trying to make her feel better. "I think we should clear the block" Mac said hopefully. "I think we should wait for backup" Stoney said. "He's gone. But at least this way we can cover our asses". "I guess you gotta point". "Which way do you want to go?" Mac asked. "I'll take the left". "Guess that means I go down smelly rat infested lane" Mac snorted. "Looks like it.". "I'll meet you round the front". Stoney walked down the left lane way. Gun drawn as a precaution. The silence was pretty eery. And he was scared by the fact none of the other operatives had joined them. And by the radio silence. Mac had the same fears. And on top of that she kept her eyes on the ground, in the fear that a rodent or cockroach would attack. She had faced fierce criminals. But the though of a spider or rat, chilled her to the bone. She walked slowly. With her gun extended out in front of her face. There was little light so she couldn't see too far ahead of herself. She began walking just slightly faster. Her heart pounding. Suddenly, she felt like a child. All alone in the dark. Maybe not so alone. A cold and rough hand wrapped itself around her mouth. She tried to wrestle it away. But whoever had a grip on her. Was strong, Much stronger than she was. With a gross ferocity her body was thrown up against a cement wall. Her temple inherited a nasty blow. Her pistol. Flung to the ground. As a shadow stood above her. "I hate cops" a voice said. As Ellen Faded out of consciousness. To be continued........
