Beauty is a Chestnut Missouri Fox Trotter. She's "blue papered" meaning that she is at least a 4th generation fox trotter. Beauty is our most recent purchase, as Leah has had an eye out for a gaited horse for awhile now. As a bonus, she's kid safe!

We aquired Beauty from Kathy & Mike Shaner who have a beautiful farm in central Indiana. If you are interested in a Fox Trotter of your own, they usually have some nice ones for sale! Fox Trotters have a unique gait in which they are actually walking with the front feet and trotting with the back. The hind feet land nearly in the same print as the front hoof, then slide forward a bit. This cushions the rider making them extrememly sure-footed and comfortable to ride. The slogan for foxtrotters is: "To Ride One is To Own One!"

UPDATE: We have some sad news to report, we recently (04 June 2005) lost Beauty tragically due to an episode of colic cased by a torsion (twist) of her intestine. The cause for her torsion is unknown, but now she is at rest and no longer in pain.
