(I often wonder if Kern or Etta knew about these ancestors & wish that someone had stories about them that had been passed down to their descendants. KWL) |

Joshua Helms, father of Efird Helms, grandfather of Lillie Jane Helms who married John W. Price, & great-grandfather of Kern Neal Price. Joshua's widow, Caroline Catherine Crowell Helms raised 5 children without remarrying. Joshua's compiled military record stated that he was 5'10" tall & had a fair complexion, red hair,
& blue eyes. According to another researcher's notes, family records indicate
that Joshua was transported back to Union Co., NC where he was buried in
the Lucy Helms Cemetery, now located beside Hillcrest Baptist Church. |

Henry Marshall Price, father of John W. Price, & grandfather of Kern Neal Price. Henry is the only ancestor of Kern or Etta who survived
& returned to Union Co., NC after the war. Neither Henry nor his
4th wife, Mary, have been located in censuses after 1880. |

Sylvester Williams, father of Sarah Elizabeth Williams who married William Ellis Helms, & grandfather of Etta Arilla Helms Price. Sylvester' widow, Jane, may have married Unknown Williams before 1880 because she was listed as a widow in this census & had 2 sons, ages 5 & 2, who were much too young to have been Sylvester's sons. Jane & her sons have not been located in censuses after 1880 or in marriage licenses in Union Co., NC. |
