WWE 2004

In April of 2002, Vince McMahon had a vision of the future. It was a future where cruiserweights could throw themselves around the ring like lunatics, where a wrestler's reputation was judged purely on his last performance. A future, in fact, where Steve Austin would put as much effort into putting Al Snow over as he would himself.

And so this glorious future came to pass. The nWo was injected with its own lethal poison. Ric Flair was carted off to the retirement home. The Bossman and The Big Show were locked in a large, soundproof cupboard. Triple H, Steve Austin and The Rock were demoted to mid card, and given sporadic showings while new superstars were given the chance to shine.

Shawn Michaels was enticed back into the ring, one last time. Unfortunately, he defeated William Regal for the Undisputed title. These two men quickly developed huge egos, and when their time in the main event spotlight was over, they took their demotions with less grace then other workers.

Two years after the banishment of the nWo from WWE, Michaels and Regal recreated a little bit of history, jumping to the XWF at the end of their contracts. The nWo-like invasion swung ratings away from WWE, which saw its share of Monday nights drop from high 7s to mid 5s. The XWF, meanwhile, jumped rapidly, garnering an 8 for their first show with Michaels and Regal on board.

The WWE board, while currently happy with your performance, would like to be back in front. The XWF embarassed WWE, and it will take time to recover. You do, however, have a vastly more talented roster, one where true talent is abundant, and huge egos almost non-existant.

It sounds like an easy challenge. It's up to you to see if it is...

Changes:
This scenario is based on the RXPW updates, possibly 37 or 38.
Draw rates of wrestlers have improved as I've played out the game.
Retirement dates and wrestler descriptions for WWE and XWF have been updated to the start of the scenario. The Rock, for example, will retire in two years to make movies.
Lots of upper card talent. Around 15 workers are now in the upper card.
The WWE, WWA and XWF rosters have been sorted to something resembling the value of the wrestlers to their respective promotions.
