"Chance"

Chance was picked up by animal control in upstate SC, on Jan.
22 after finding him on the losing end of a pack fight of stray dogs.
Chance had bite wounds from head to toe but the shelter workers didn't
notice one of the wounds abscessing until 6 days after he was brought in.
At that time there was necrosis and severe infection in his right hind
leg, as well as Chance coming down with a severe upper respiratory infection.
After being in contact with Erin at LBR, he was started on antibiotics
and the wound was cleaned up by staff. A caring volunteer from Spartanburg
got Chance out of the shelter after his legal hold was up and transported
him 1/2 way to us here at Lowcountry Boxer Rescue. When he got here,
his wound had already begun to heal slowly, but he had green discharge
from his nose and eyes and was running a high fever. With the advice
of our trusted veterinarians his antibiotics were increased to a dose appropriate
for him, and he was dewormed for all 4 of the intestinal parasites: hookworms,
roundworms, whipworms, and tapeworms.
Chance was fostered for 5 weeks by a loving family who will miss
him dearly. We at LBR want to thank Carl and Jo Haas and their lovely
children, Samantha and Ethan, for opening their hearts and home to care
for Chance before his adoption. They drove him to and from vet appointments,
fed him, socialized him, healed his wounds, and showed him what it was
like to be loved! You wonderful people are what make rescue possible
and we thank you all so much!

Chance was adopted on March 4, 2003, by a very nice young man,
Ben Dubois III. Ben is getting ready to start college and works as
a cook at a local restaraunt in the evenings. Ben plans to take Chance
with him everywhere possible and do lots of guy things, including surfing
and other outdoor activities. Ben's family has had adopted rescue
Boxers in the past and is very supportive of his first very own opportunity
to adopt this sweet boy who almost didn't make it! Chance has proven
to beat the odds and deserves a happy, care-free life with a young active
owner like Ben. We are very excited about this adoption! Best
of luck to you guys as you start your "new" lives together!
