Summary of the Movie: This movie starts out with three Klingon D-7 cruisers going towards a cloud, a very big cloud. The Klingons, knowing their intincts fired three torpedos at the cloud. As they watch on their screen tracking the torpedos, they notice them dissapearing one by one. The captain then orders the ships to back off, but it was too late. Out of nowhere a ball of plasma appeared out of the entrance to this massive cloud. It then made it's way to hit one of the Klingon ships and totally vaporize it. It soon did the same to the others. At Starfleet Command they are watching the video of what happened just as they learned where the cloud was coming to- Earth. The current captain assigned to the USS Enterprise is Captain Decker. Kirk can't allow his old ship go into crisis without him in command, so he seizes the ship and takes command. After they get out of spacedock they try their, "not ready yet" warp engines. It creats a wormhole they barely make out of alive. |

Seeming to be running out of time and the problem would take time to solve, a bit of luck occurs. Spock arrives on a Vulcan shuttle and assists the crew. In no time they get the warp engines back online and head toward the unknown cloud. When they arrive they carfully try to enter and make contact with it. They do barely escaping destruction. The next part of the movie is just the ship going layer through layer of the giant cloud. After much of the movie is over, they figure out that the machine in the center of it, is the Voyager probe we sent out and lost. It is trying to meetit's creater. So Decker makes a couragous choice and joins with the probe and solves the problem. Commander Decker is reported missing and the crew lives on.
My review: I thought the movie was entertaining for the most part. It had quite a few boring moments, but I imagine that at the time this movie came out, it was a big hit. One, because it was the first ST movie on the big screen, and secondly the special effects were much greater than TOS.
Music: Great sound track. I really enjoyed the music in this film.4/5 Enjoyability: It wasnt the best movie, but I enjoyed it.3/5 Plot: The plot was great except it got a bit overdone.3.5/5 Overall: A decent movie, for the time, but now, it just isn't what you call a classic.3/5 |
