| Jared started to take acting lessons when he was 12. The he won a Claim to fame contest in 1999 and got to appear on the Teen Choice awards. Jared lived in San Antonio, Texas and attended James Madison High School. he was named a candidate for the year 2000 Presidential Scholars Programme. He is a National Honour Society member graduating magna-cum-laude in May 2000. After graduating, he moved to Los Angeles, CA to pursue an acting career. He plays Dean on a Fox Tv show called "Gilmore Girls" and is branching out into film work. How did Jared get to win the contest? Well he told them that he wouldn't be nervous. Also he told them "My mom's been working hard all year and I think she needs a vacation". (You could take one person with you to LA.) Those answers worked and Jared and his mom were flown to LA for a week. While he was presenting the awards he met his agent, Ric Beddingfield who is also manager to Freddie Prinze JR. As a freshman in high school Jared played the lead in a play called The Happy Time. He says this is what inspired him to carry on acting. He competed in drama competitions gaining regional, state and even national awards. He won the National Foundation for Advancement of the Arts in a theatre competition with over 7,000 entrants. Jared planned on attending the University of Texas and was spending his time on a ranch building fences and digging ditches. He was then hired to film "Silent Witness" with Anthony Stewart Head (Giles in Buffy) but no US network picked up the show, however, it was shown here in the UK. He then bagged the part of Dean on "Gilmore Girls". He wasn't the first choice for the part of Dean, but after filming the pilot, the producers were not happy with the actor who was then playing the role of Dean so he was out and Jared was brought in. Jared hides his deep southern drawl for the role of Dean. Last Thanksgiving, Jared was honoured by his home city by acting as the Grand Marshall of the annual Thanksgiving Day River Parade. "So I got to float around on a barge, and, you know, wave and all that fun stuff" In his spare time Jared loves playing sports, reading and visiting his family. Jared's sister Megan attends the same school as he did and his mum teaches at East Central High. |
