Chicky came to me a few years ago at about the age of 17. I don't know what had happened previously but she is afraid of glasses and a certain male voice will send her quivering in a corner. The first year that I had her was very difficult. I had been bitten on the bottom lip, almost thru, and you have never been bitten unless you've been bitten by a Cockatoo. OUCH!!! She actually chased me down the hall one day trying to bite me. Now I watch her eyes. When slanted BEWARE. But we are the best of friends. I will not give her up. I think she has been thru enough. I actually think the biting was to see if I would put up with her or to see if I would send her to a new home.
I decided to get her a mate and that's when I got Brogie. He was very gentle tho, male Cockatoo's are known to kill their mates when breeding if not careful. Well, that wasn't going to work either as she would face him (when he was trying to get to her) and scream her lungs out for me to protect her. We found Brogie a real good home and now Chicky is very happy being the Queen of the bird room and my little honey.
***Chicky passed away unexpectantly and is now at Rainbow Bridge.
