Daily Meditations, Affirmations, and Inspirations for African-Americans

For starters I wanted to be able to type a different passage from the book
each day but due to my busy schedule I'll only be able to put in a passage
as often as possible. So, here it goes.
"Courage may be the most important of all virtues, because without it one
cannot practice any other virtue with consistency." Dr. Maya Angelou on courage.
"A single bracelet does not jingle." CONGO proverb (on networking)
"If you have not confidence in self, you are twice defeated in the race of life.
With confidence, you have won even before you have started." Marcus Garvey on self-confidence
"God gives nothing to those who keep their arms crossed." African proverb on
aggressiveness
"A sure way for one to lift himself up is by helping to lift someone else."
Booker T. Washington on helping others.
"I am/I can." Graffito in Harlem. An Affirmation.

Take five minutes today to:
- Remember a time when I felt exhilarated about something or someone beautiful.
- See if there is some hurt I can let go.
- Think about the course I would like my life to take.
- Take another step toward accomplishing my goals.
- Carefully determine my needs in my relationship, and to voice thoses needs to my
partner.
- Reevaluate how I spend my time and energy.
- Make time to read a chapter of a fiction or nonfiction book, or a selection of
poetry.
- Be quiet, listen to my inner self, and determine who I am and who I want to be.
- Find some way to relax, whether it be taking a bath, meditating, or exercising.
(Yes exercising can be a form of relaxation. After at least 30 minutes of exercise
your brain releases endorphins, the body's natural pain killer, that puts the body on a
natural "high".) :)
- Remember a time when I succeeded at something unexpectedly.
