Looking Glass Peering in the looking glass Confused by who I see She once was too familiar But has become unrecognizable to me. Her memoir too clearly illustrated Through every wrinkle and imperfection She is not a stranger Only my own misconception. She forces my remembrance of years Lost forever in the past My prospects and hopes have withered Along with youth that could not last. She reveals how time has brought change And how experience then rearranged All I see, where another face used to be. Turning from that looking glass The reflection too painful for eyes to view She has unveiled the shameful truth before me, If I had only seized each moment, Even cherished but a few.
