Love Not Suicide
My Dead Baby Dreams Of Me

A tragedy in my brother’s life was the breaking up with his pregnant girlfriend. When the relationship ended, they decided to have a termination. This led to my brother becoming very depressed, and was I believe a factor in him turning from people and from life.

Here is a poem that he wrote about the break-up and the termination of their child.

It makes sad reading.

The picture was attached to the poem – which I believe was done to illustrate it

My Dead Baby Dreams Of Me
By Thomas Somerson

That night – together

Caught by your body

Enclosed by your love

Being one – for in your eyes

OUR eyes – that time

Always returning

I saw someone

Our unborn child’s face

And knew someone

In the sweet salt of our lovemaking

We moved towards a life to be

To the rhythm of our heart beat

Becoming complete

The love did not last

And we parted

And with agreement

Ended what we had started

The life that we had courted

Was now to be aborted

It was your right

It was OUR choice ?

Now alone

In my sleep – what do I see?

My terminated child

Is dreaming of me (and you)

He mocks our heartbeat

And our happiness (bittersweet)

That gave him life

Only to dream in life’s sleep

Incomplete.

Caught in the night

I want to escape the light

Will we meet?
