| I just got back from attending the 2002 U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Los Angeles. I discovered a new heartthrob who, I swear, I have never noticed before despite having seen many times on TV over the last several years! I went to all the competitions and a lot of the practice sessions with my mom. Pairs skater John Zimmerman is a God - in person one of the most gorgeous men I have ever seen in my life (my mom thought so too!). We sat down by the ice for the practice sessions, and we were absolutely drooling over this guy - he is unbelievably beautiful in person - and a great skater to boot! What's even better - he seems like he is actually a really sweet guy - everytime I saw him signing autographs or talking to someone he has such a sweet and beautiful smile on his face. Here's the best part - during the Men's Free Skate Competition who should come and sit just seven rows down in our same section but John Zimmerman himself, looking fantastic in his street clothes - tan pants and black long-sleeved shirt. Let me tell you, every woman from young to old sitting near us was swoonin' and droolin' over him - and it was mostly women sitting around us (hardly any guys!). I had a very nice view of him from where I was sitting, but as I was writing down scores as they came up for each of the skaters I got distracted several times and missed the scores when John stood up to let people come out of his row (he was on the aisle seat and they were very tight rows) and I could see his cute butt in those rather form-fitting tan slacks - Woooo! The girl next to me spoke of pretending she was sitting in his row - just so she could squeeze by him - sounded good to me too! By the way, at that same event sitting in our section quite near was a goldmine of figure skating stars of past and present. We saw Tai Babilonia and Randy Gardner, Jenni Meno and Todd Sand, Rosalyn Sumners, Jill Trenary, Debbi Thomas, Kristi Yamaguchi (my mom got her autograph - she was the first skating celebrity we spotted earlier that day at the Ladies Short Program), Yuka Sato, Jason Dungjen, Rocky Marvel and of course John Zimmerman all there at the same time. We spent the ice resurfacing breaks gawking at all the celebrities! |
