~ Thanksgiving Poems ~
Thankfulness We're thankful for Thy blessings, Lord, Thy watchful eye above, For freedom's bell that rolls for all In this dear land we love. We're thankful, Lord, for useful work, For measure of good health, For family ties and friendship dear, More precious this than wealth. For all Thy tender mercies, Lord, For sunshine and for rain, For golden harvest richly blessed In yield of fruit and grain. On this Thanksgiving Day, dear Lord, We bow in humble prayer. We're thankful for Thy blessings, Lord; Thy gifts are everywhere. ~ Kay Hoffman ~
Thank You, God Thank You, dear God, for being there When I sought help from You, My day so bleak and trouble filled I knew not what to do. I breathed Your name in silent prayer, Made known to You my need, I sensed You knew my urgency; I didn't have to plead. You gave me strength beyond my own That helped to see me through. I thank You, god, for being there Just when I needed You. ~ Kay Hoffman ~
Day Of Rejoicing Oh, how sweet to be together When Thanksgiving Day is here; Kinfolk come and cousins gather Filling every nook with cheer; When Turkey has been roasting Since before the dawn of day And the dinner time is scheduled Many slow-paced hours away. Older cousins carry dishes As excitement builds and grows, Everybody, even youngsters, To the very minute knows When the call will come to dinner And they'll line up, hushed, to stand As Father asks a blessing On the goodness of the land, Blessing on the home's provider, And the gentle one whose art Served such a sumptuous banquet From the goodness of her heart. ~ Don Hoover ~ HOME |
