| A- Alchemy: an early form of chemistry that was studied during the The Middle Ages, using magic and philosophy. -Astornomy: the scientific study of the universeincluding the stars and the planets. B -Basilisk: a lizard-like creature of medieval folklore whose stare can be fatal. -Boarhound: a large dog-usually a Great Dane-used to hunt wild boar. C -Centaur: a Greek mythological creature with a man's head and the body of a horse; also, a constellation of stars. -Cerberus: a three-headed dog guarding the gated of Hades in Greek and Roman mythology. Or as we know him, "Fluffy" D -Dragon: a mythical monster that breathes fire and smoke and looks like a giant reptile with claws and a tail. E -Elf: a small human-like creature known for its mischievous and magical behaviors. G -Gargoyle: guardian statues, usually in the shape of mythical creatures, found on castles and buildings. -Ghost: the disembodied spirit of a dead person or animal. -Giant/Giantess: a man or woman of human form who has extreme size and strength. -Gnome: a small, mishapen dwarf-like creature who lives in the earth and protects hidden treasures. -Griffin: a mythical creature with the head,claws and wings of an eagle and the body and legs of a lion. H -Hippogriff: a mythical creature that has the rear quarters of a horse but the head and wings of a griffin. M -Mandrake: a poisonous plant with a thick root that resembles the human body. P -Phoenix: a bird that is said to be able to rise from it's ashes after death and is a sign of immortality. -Potion: a drink thought to have magical powers. S -Sirius: the "Dog Star"; the brightest star in the sky; part of the constellation of Canis Major. T -Troll: a mythical creature who lives underground or in caves. A troll is usually either dwarf-like or giant in size and traditionally likes to eat people. U -Unicorn: a mythical creature traditionally depicted as a white horse with a single horn growing from its forhead- said to have magical healing powers and good fortune. W -Werewolf: humans that shift into the form of a wolf, usually during a full moon. -Witch: a woman skilled in supernatural arts such as divination,potions, spells etc... -Wizard: according to folklore, a man who is able to perform magic and brew potions. |
