I ran track and crosscountry in high school, and I absolutely loved
it! My favorite events are the relays. I participated in
every relay there is at some point or another during my
career. But overall, I believe the reason I look back
so fondly on my experiences with running is because it led
me toward wanting to become a teacher. During my junior
year in high school, the middle school who used our track got a new
coach. This coach had never run track, and had never coached
anything, so she ask for help from anyone on my team. I
volunteered right away, because I stayed late after practice most of
the time anyway. I loved the sport, and that enthusiasm helped
the students I coached to become better athletes. I enjoyed
coaching them so much that I decided I wanted to teach people for as
long as I possibly could. Running is a difficult sport because
you have to dedicate yourself completely in order to succeed. I
dedicated myself for as long as I possibly could. I have a knee
injury that keeps me from enjoying the sport, but I still haven't lost
my passion for it, and I look forward to sharing that passion with
future generations.
