Today is our yesterday. This month, this number is forever marked in the pages of history. And it was only merely two years ago, that the fate of our world changed. I ask you, how would your life be different without this day? We all have changed in a majority of ways. Some will forever deal with their losses. For the love of their life that was robbed, or for the children whose parents perished. Some will live their life with a silent hollow where their best friend used to be. And some will live their life without seeing their young one walk down the aisle. I am upon their cheek as it is tears of heartbreak streaming down their flesh. I am in their soul as they ache for what they'll never embrace again. I am an emotion they feel, as they try to move on. Today is that of September 11th. All who live this earth, know this day--for a fragment of the year 2001, time stopped in its tracks. For time itself could not count thy seconds, for it was its breath that was ripped from its exsistance. I ask you, what could have provoked such horror before our eyes? What was the reasoning for us to watch people suffering and dying as we remain helpless infront of our television? It was hatred that brought forth the crumbling of two towers. It was hatred that siezed those planes and flew them; colliding them with death. It was hatred that caused this morbid day. In my heart, that beats within my chest, I remember this day clearly. I can retrace my steps and breath the same air as that day. And I can tell you the one single emotion half the world felt, but I lacked of. Hatred. I hate you--two planes into towers, killing innocent. Well I hate you too--a man shoots a gun, blaming the innocent. Well I hate you more--our country says as we try to solve the unjust by discriminating a race that orchestrated the plot. Well what if white people caused the plot, would we hate ourselves? Would we shoot ourselves? I ask you, what does hatred get us? It gets us nowhere. And if we really believe in that hatred, then we are no better than the individuals who hijacked those plans. Can we forgive what they have done? Yes. But will we forget what they have done? No. For today is our yesterday. This month, this number is forever marked in the pages of history. It is not only a day, but an anniversary when tragedy in its most horrid form happened. This is for every person whose life was effected, whether you are a hero who fought to save, or just a bystander on the other side of the country. Today is and always will be September 11th--the day of our history and forever our future. |
