Second Chances xx
xx Back
held captive by the need to be loved
only symbolized by bars that contain
there is no entire wish to think of
in which one could ever want to explain
the reasons for existing in a silver cage

two eyes peering thru and over; trying to see
is our hero coming; is it our day?
a lingering hope in a chest full of need
one only we could ever feel in our lengthy stay
waiting; just letting it go until its time

an angel walks on by with a spare chance in hand
like gravity we are always pulled to that winged spirit
we'll beg and plead, hoping to be heard--and
maybe that angel will give us a reason to believe it
that today has come, just like they had promised it would

but no, freedom is not coming with sympathy today
it walks on by, taking with it the chance to live again
so a song vibrates in our throat, a song of another day
its a sorrowful sort of song, but the most beautiful
one only angels can hear; but most angels will ignore

such a sad existance in that dreadful caged world
i'll take my blessings and my misgivings, smiling despite
for i'm not in a cage, surrounded by misguided heros
i was set free from my cage of needful love, thats right
and now i live on, only to tell the story of second chances
