Ease of Use: Four Stars

It goes without saying that most of these dyes are easy to use. Not really rocket science here. Apply, saturate, wait, rinse. Um, yeah.

Availability: 2

If you have a HotTopic in your neighborhood, you can get special effects. It isn't really carried a whole lot of other places, but is available (of course) through the Hot Topic website. And as Salons are making the conversion to midstream pop-culture, the prevelance of these dyes is increasing.

Affordability: 3 Star

Not really digging the whole paying $15 for dye (plus tax now that I live in Washington) when I also have to pay for bleach. But on the plus side, although it is roughly the same price as Fudge, it has far more product. So you will have much more luck getting good coverage.

Fade Factor: 4 Stars

I have to say that although my boyfriend bitched and bitched about his shower being pink for a week solid (that's how long the bitching lasted, not how long the shower was pink), I had relatively little bleed out of color. And what I did have I can attribute to the dye that I add to my condition to keep the color fresh.
That said... Special effects fades very little. True, I did start out with a brilliant red and end up with something akin to flamingo pink, but that is okay, cause that is what reds do. And I had very little transfereance of color to my clothes and pillows.. though a bit of warning.. and this goes for every brand: DO NOT LEAN UP AGAINST A WHITE WALL RIGHT AFTER YOU HAVE GOTTEN OUT OF THE SHOWER.

I consider this rating temporary until I try another shade.
