TIPS
- If you want the color to take, you have to have treated hair. This means bleach & lots of it.
- If you try to put the color on dark hair it will show up as a highlight at the most and will not be worth the money you put into it.
- If you already have blonde hair, then you can apply the color, but it won't last as long. As I said before BLEACH.
- You can buy a home bleaching kit (like the one Clairol makes) but they generally don't work as well and if you have longer than shoulderlength hair you may need to buy two.
- It's always helpful to have a box of "Normal" hair dye available, just incase you end up with orange hair and have to be somewhere "respectable" tommorow.
- Be sure to buy more bleach than you think you need. If you screw up, you don't want to high-tail your ass to the store with funky hair.
- If you are bleaching for the first time, then be sure you have a COMPETANT friend help you --- I cannot stress this enough!
- If you are going a fabulous color like, oh, I don't know, GREEN, then Always make sure that your new du won't compromise your job.
- Do it outside whenever possible. Even if you think that you won't make a mess, the chances are you will lose that lovely security deposit. Besides I can think of better ways of getting a buzz than from bleach fumes! :)
- Make sure you are wearing funky clothing. Bleach is a destroyer. If you even have your favorite t-shirt in the room the bleach will find it!
- For Anime color: Never expect your hair to come out the color on the lid/box. Look at color swatches & be sure to do a strand test before you put it on your whole head. I know that if this is your first time, you wont have much patience... but it's worth it. Believe me!
- Be sure to have a couple of decent pair of gloves around. I buy the latex one.
- Try to do this at the beginning of a weekend. If you screw up, it's best to wait a day between bleaching so that your hair doesn't melt off. (I mean MELT)
