In an interview with OK Magazine titled 'Devon Aoki Goes To �WAR� Against Rumors' Devon sets the record straight about rumors that her millionaire father used his power and money to influence modeling agencies/movie produces to enhance her career.
"I hear all sorts of weird things about myself and �oh her dad must be able to do X, Y and Z for her,� but the fact of the matter is I�ve lived with my mom pretty much my whole life, and my mom�s been incredibly helpful as far as helping with my modeling career starting at 13 years old. She was the one who traveled with me and made sure that I was looked after until an age where I could travel alone and be all right.
"I think people like to think I�m in some way financially dependent on my family � on my dad � but the fact of the matter is I�ve been emancipated from my father since I was fourteen years old. That�s something people don�t know or understand."
