The LOVE group's campaign
with the Greater Lawrence
Mental Health Center (GLMHC) began in 1993.
On Dec. 13, 1993, after several meetings
and during a press conference
held on the date mentioned above
The GLMHC signed onto
LOVE's mental health consumer/doctor guidelines
(*the above LINK is for the main draft
of the Group's guideline(s)
but for each campaign, the L.O.V.E. Group
and the clinic, hospital,
or other mental health care facility
meets and agrees on a set of specific guidelines
to be followed by the facility's doctors',
other staff directly invovlved in patient care)
---------------------------------
These guidelines include the doctors'
at the GLMHC explaining
-why the medication(s) are needed
-the benefit(s) of the drug(s)
-the side effect(s) of the medication(s)
-and the likely result(s) of refusing
to take the prescribed medication(s)
-In short-INFORMED CONSENT!
---------------------------------
(*in the last few years, there have been
some changes to the leadership of the GLMHC)
and with each change, came more meetings...
between L.O.V.E. and GLMHC...
the GLMHC is supposed to have
informed consent in progress at this time
and to provide this in spanish as well as english...
---------------------------------
if you're a (mental health) comsumer there
and they are NOT
following the gudelines L.O.V.E and GLMHC director(s),
