My name is Patches and I was born on July 31, 1993. That makes me 12, but certainly not old! Shih-tzus and poodles both have very long longevities, and I�m very young for my age. I live with my mommy, Andrea; my daddy, Gene; and my two older sisters, Stephanie and Gina. Everybody adores me and thinks I�m the cutest thing ever. That�s generally a good thing unless I�m trying to sleep and people wake me up by petting me. I usually brush them off and go back to sleep. They�re a good family and I couldn�t ask for better.
I can usually be found anywhere that�s soft and cozy. My favorite place of all is on top of Mommy or Daddy�s pillow, but I also sleep on the couch in the family room. This isn�t to say that I�m a prissy pooch�I enjoy the outdoors as well. I love to bark at the fence on the far side of my yard and say hello to the neighbors as they pass by, and in the summer time I like laying outside under the trees when my family is swimming in the pool.
I have a lot of toys at home that I play and sleep with. My favorites are the ones that are soft and fuzzy with a squeaker in side, and I rest my head on them when I nap. Before I go to sleep, I like to squeak my toys for a minute or two. Mommy says it�s like a baby sucking on a pacifier or its thumb before I go to sleep. I don�t know!
I also have a lot of really great tricks! Not only can I sit, give my paw, lie down, and roll over; I can beg and speak! No, silly, I don�t mean bark; I mean speak! Most shih-tzus can make a throaty sound that sounds a lot like speaking. I move my mouth when I make the noise and can say things that sound like �bologna� and �I want some.� Of course, I don�t entertain for free; Treats are given in return for my tricks. My favorite foods are cheese and Jugyfruits candy.
