Plastic Surgery:  What Today's Society is More Focused On, Inward or Outward Appearance?
Everywhere I turn I hear about someone I know having plastic surgery to enhance their image.  Since the mid 1990's plastic surgery has been on the rise.  Technology has developed techniques to enable people to change their outward appearance.  I watch television and see alot of TV shows and celeberities promoting it.  The internet and magazines influence people everyday to "enhance" their outward look.
My concern is that technology is having a negative influence on society.  For example, the television show such as "I Want A Famous Face" on MTV is marketed towards teenagers and young adults.  The teenagers and young adults on the show have plastic surgery to reconstruct their outward appearance to imitate their favorite stars.  Other examples include Nip/Tuck on FX and Dr. 90210 on E! Entertainment.  These shows are marketed towards adults even though a lot of teenagers watch them.  Adults on the show have plastic surgery to keep up their outward appearnce to stay with the pressures of the
fountain of youth.
I feel that a lot of people have harmed themselves psychologically and physically because of all the pressure to be something else.  And then I thinkof questions to ask them... Are they happy? Yes? No?  These questions run through my mind every time one of my friends talks about their surgeries.
Although I would never have plastic surgery, I think that parents and teenagers should takes these steps into consideration.  Parents should watch their children.  Apply rules to what they watch on television, magazines they read, and internet sites they visit.  If you children have questions about plastic surgery, seek a psychologist professional help to determine if they are psychologically fit to go through surgery.  When seeking a plastic surgeron, make sure they are board certified and seek a second opinion.  These guidelines apply to adults!  If you do have plastic surgery BE SAFE!!!!
