A beautiful mind is about Dr. John Nash. He was born in Virginia and had harly any social skills. He is a genius mathematician. This movie is about how he drives himself to the point of insanity. When he was in college, he wanted to prove an original idea. It took him months to find that idea. It finally dawned on him what it was. He challenged Adam Smith and 150 years worth of economics. He won a prized position at Wheeler Defense Laboratories. He was helping the Pentagon with various projects decoding things for him. Dr. John Nash was a very odd man. While teaching a class at MIT, he met his wife. She was also an oddball. While doing various projects for the Pentagon, he had created delusions about helping the government decoding magazines and other media to find messages that the Communists were sending to their allies in America. He also had an illusion of a best friend from college that would visit him when he got mentally worn out. He was treated for paranoid schizophrenic and schizophrenic. He suffered from this for many years. At the end of the movie, he was honored with a life time achievement award. I loved this movie because it shows the compelling story of a man who dealt with a mental illness and who also was a mathematical genius. I know that as I was watching the movie I felt sad for him. He suffered and yet he overcame it. |
