CHAPTER 16
at school a week later
Kelly opens her locker and takes her government book out. She shuts her locker and leans against it day dreaming about Christian.
Christian walks in Kelly’s hospital room. Kelly is holding a baby boy with a big grin on her face. She looks up at Christian, “Would you like to hold your son?”
Christian nods and takes the baby boy from her arms.
“Kelly?” Kelly’s thoughts are interrupted by Samantha, “Kelly?”
“Oh, Sam, how are you?”
“Kelly are you sure you’re ready to come back to school?” Samantha asks worried.
“Samantha, there are only like three weeks left, I need to finish out my last year of high school.”
“Well okay. I was just concerned.” Samantha spots Erin walking towards them, “Well Kelly I hate you too then.” Samantha winks and runs off.
Kelly stands in amazement, then spots Erin. Erin yells to Kelly, “Kelly! Ah, are you and your best friend fighting now?” Erin reaches Kelly, “That’s okay, I took care of her while you were on your leave of absence.” Erin walks away laughing.
A smile appears on Kelly’s face. “You wish.”
at lunch
Samantha runs into Justin in the hall. “Hey.”
Justin smiles, “Hey Samantha, How are things?”
“Good, I need you to do me a favor.”
“Um sure.”
Samantha brings out a little tiny tape and recorder, “Please give this to Kelly. She’ll know what to do.”
Justin takes it and his smile fades, “But aren’t you going to give it to her?”
“No silly, Her and I aren’t getting along.” Samantha winks again.
Justin smiles, “OH I get it.” Justin bends over and kissed Samantha.
Samantha stands in shock, “Oh.. um.. that.. um..” She grabs Justin shirt and pulls him close and kisses him back, then steps back, “See you around?”
Justin nods, “you bet.”
after school
Kelly walks onto the track field, “Well Kelly I’m so glad you are joining us.” Coach says.
Kelly walks up to the coach, “Actually, I’m not joining you. I come to tell you, that I have to quit the team.”
“Quit? Nonsense.” Kelly pulls a doctors note from her pocket and hands it to Coach. “But you were the best team member I have.”
Kelly gets angry, “Was I Coach?”
“Yeah.”
“Then why wasn’t I good enough for you? Huh? It was always,” Kelly imitates Coach, “Kelly run faster, that was good but not good enough...”
“But Kel.”
“Don’t ‘But Kel’ Me.. your the one who made me bulimic. Always pushing me to loose and gain weight. IT WAS YOU! So who else on this time are you pushing towards an eating disorder? Bet you never thought of that, did you? Well you better now!” Kelly turns around and walks away.
at home
Kelly unlocks the door and walks in to a big “SURPRISE.” Kelly jumps back and the smile fades. Tony walks up to Kelly, “How are you?”
Kelly sighs, “I’m okay. What is all this?”
“Well Kelly we wanted to celebrate your 18th Birthday.” Ben walks over and gives his sister a hug.
“But my birthday was like months again.”
Her mom appears around the corner, “I know sweetie, but we did celebrate it then.”
“MOM! Your home.” Kelly rushes over and gives her mom a hug. “Are you home for good?”
Her mom smiles, “Yes, for good. I still have treatments I have to go in for. But otherwise I’m ready to take care of my children, and my future husband.” She glances at Tony.
(the phone rings) Justin walks over and answers it, a big smile appears on his face, he hangs up and walks over to the center of the crowd. “I have some news.” Kelly starts to walk up the stairs, Justin notices, “Kelly you may want to hear this.”
Kelly glances down from the stairs, “what?”
Justin walks up the stairs to his sister, “Christian is awake. He has awoken from his coma.”
Kelly gives Justin a big hug and then runs down the stairs, “Thanks everyone for the party, but Christian as awoken from his coma. I must go see him!”
Tony stops Kelly. “Kelly you know the chances that he maybe a different kid when he awoke, right?”
“Yeah I know, but I’m taken this chance.” She waves and rushes out the door.
CHAPTER 17
Christian hospital room
“Oh Christian, I have missed you so much.” Erin says holding Christian hand. Christian just stares at her. “Oh, come on sweets, didn’t you miss me?” Nothing, “Christian?”
The door opens and Kelly appears, “Erin what are you doing here? You shouldn’t be visiting Christian.”
Erin lets go of Christians hand and gets into Kelly’s face. “You better be careful of who your messing with, or you’ll regret it. Christian is my boyfriend, not yours.”
Christian speaks, “Erin, I’m not your boyfriend. It’s over.”
Erin shakes her head, “Christian, sweets, you just came out of a coma, I don’t think now is the time for us to talk about this.”
Christian smiles, “OH really? I’m training to be a doctor Erin, and I feel I am very capable of talking about whatever I want. SO GET OUT of my room, and go to your football leader boyfriend, and get out of my face, so I can be with the someone I love very much.”
Erin looks Kelly up and down, “You want to be with this fat chick?”
Kelly smiles, “I’m pregnant with his child, remember? Did you forget your pregnant with the Jason’s child?”
Erin sticks her nose in the air, “Fine, whatever, you’ll regret this Kelly.”
Christian jumps in the threat. “Erin, you keep your hands off and away from Kelly and my baby.”
Erin sighs, “Oh, how sweet. What you going to do, poke me with one of your IV’s?” She then walks out of the room.
Kelly stands and stares at Christian. Christian smiles, “Kelly? I’ve missed you. Come sit by me.” He pats his bed and sits up in pain.
Kelly rushes over to him. “Relax Christian.” She takes his hand. “Did you mean it when you said you loved me?”
Christian smiles, “Kelly. I love you so much. I have never stopped loving you. And I’m so sorry that I slept with Erin. That was so wrong of me.”
Kelly smiles, “I love you too, Christian.” They kiss and then Kelly climbs into the hospital bed with Christian and the cuddle together.
CHAPTER 18
the next day at school
Justin walks up to his sister Kelly, “Kelly, um.. your wearing the same clothes as yesterday.” She turns around and smiles at her brother, “Whoa, you grew over night.” He glances at her tummy. “Where were you last night?”
“I spent the night with Christian in the hospital.” Kelly rubs her tummy, “Yeah I have grown haven’t I. Want to feel the baby kick?” She takes Justin’s hand and puts it on her tummy. “Did you feel that?”
Justin smiles, “Yeah I did. I’m so glad you are all smiles again. Oh I have something for you from Samantha.” He searches through his backpack and brings out the tape and tape recorder. “she told me to give this to you.”
Kelly takes it, “Um, okay. What is it?” Justin shrugs “okay, well thanks a bunch.”
Justin sighs and looks at his watch, “well sis, I have to go, good luck on your finals today.”
Kelly sighs remembering she had her finals today. She places the tape in the tape player and pushes play.
“Hey Sam.. I hope its okay I call you that.” Erin’s voice.
“Sure,” Samantha’s voice.
“So did you hear what happened to Christian last night?”
Samantha’s voice changes, “no what?”
“He was hit by a car.”
“Whatever.” Samantha voice says not believing.
“No seriously. He was crossing the cross walk and then he was hit.”
“Really, Erin? Who told you?”
“No one.”
“Erin, then how do you know?”
“Don’t tell anyhow, but I was driving the car.”
“Erin are you crazy, you could be arrested.”
“Sam, Shh.. people will hear you.”
“But Erin..”
“Sam, don't worry I used Jason’s car. No one will ever realize it was me.” Erin laughs and then the tape stops.
Kelly smile fades off her face and she shoves the tape in her pocket and rushes to class.
after school at the hospital.
Kelly walks into Christian’s room. “Hey cutie.” Christian says.
“hi, how are you today?” Kelly sits on the bed next to him taking his hand.
“I’m great, they say I can leave the hospital tomorrow. I’m also going to go take my finals tomorrow and then I don’t have to go back... um.. Kelly.. Erin..”
“Erin what?”
“Erin stopped by today and said that she knows that you know.”
“Know what?”
Christian shrugs, “I don’t know. She was very nervous like and upset.”
Kelly sighs, “Crap.” Kelly bends over and kisses Christian, “I go to go, I’ll be back.”
Christian grabs her arm as she gets up, “Please be careful.”
Kelly smiles, “I will.” She then rushes out the room heading home.
outside her house
Kelly steps out of her Explorer into the thunder and rain. She glances at the door and it is open. She rushes to the door and walks in, “HELLO?” Nobody answers, she spots a note on the table. ‘Went out for dinner, be back later, there is some left over pizza in fridge. Love, Mom.’
Kelly smiles and puts the note back on the table, the door slams behind her, she turns around quickly. She glances around. “HELLO?” Sighs and lights a few candles, “must of been the wind.” She walks over and picks up the phone and lightning strikes and then the light flash off. She hangs up the phone. She grabs a candle and rushes up the stairs to the bathroom to grab another candle. She search through the cupboards, “Where are the candles.” She stands up and sees writing on the mirror, she reads it allowed, “Mirror, Mirror on the wall, Kelly is the deadest of them all.” The bathroom door the slams shut and Kelly’s candle blows out. Kelly walks over and tries to open the door, it doesn’t budge. “What the heck?” Kelly pounds on the door. “Somebody help me.” Kelly hears someone on the other side of the door, “LET ME OUT!” All of a sudden the door flies open. “Whose there?”
“Kelly?” Christian yells as he steps in the bathroom. He is holding a candle. Christian runs into his arms, “Ouch.” he replies.
“Christian, What are you doing out of the hospital?” She brushes him off.
Christian sighs, “I knew you were in trouble, so I got an early release, I’m okay, What about you?” Christian glances over and sees the writing on the mirror. “Oh my god, Kelly. This is Erin’s hand writing.”
“Kelly rushes out of the room to her brother, Justin's room, “I know Christian.” Christian follows. “I need a bat.” Kelly screams.
Christian rushes in front of her and finds Samantha all bloody on Justin’s bed. Kelly rushes over to her best friend to feel for a pulse, “Samantha, wake up.” She looks at Christian and a tear falls down her cheek, “She’s dead.”
“Kelly where does your brother keep his bat?”
“In his closet.”
Christian opens the closet and starts whipping things out of the closet. “It’s not here. Does Bed have one?”
Kelly sighs, “Ben might, but I think he plays more golf than baseball.”
“Kelly stay in here, don’t move, I’ll be right back.” Christian rushes out of the room. Kelly spots her brothers cell phone and dials 911.
in Ben’s room
Christian digs through Ben’s closet, “Don’t you know it’s rude to dig through other people’s things?” Christian turns around to find Erin standing at the doorway with a bat. “Ben may get very angry.”
Christian smiles, “Well hey sweet cakes, how you doing?” Christian acts like he is happy to see her, he rushes over and starts kissing her, she kisses back. He puts his hand on her face and then slowly moves his hand down her back and around her hip and then he grabs the bat. But she holds onto it tight and they struggle. She shoves him across the hall and on to the wall. Christian hits it hard and bends over in pain.
“OH, are you hurt, sweet cakes?” He begins to crawl away, “Wait a minute, I’m not through with you. Just because I didn’t succed the first time in killing you doesn’t mean I won’t succeed the second time.” Erin strikes Ben with the bat knocking him unconsicous. She goes up to strike him again. But Kelly jumps at her and knocks her down, the bat flies out of Erin’s hands and down the stairs. “Bitch.” Erin replies in anger as Kelly is on top of her pinning her down, Erin flips Kelly over and then pins Kelly on the ground. Kelly struggles to get up, but can’t move because Erin is sitting on her arms and legs. “Bet you didn’t guess that I know a little wrestling moves eh? Well I also have another surprise for you.” Erin reaches in across the floor and picks up a syringe that has liquid in it.
Kelly’s eyes get big, “Erin, what are you doing?”
“Oh, Kelly? Are you scared?” Erin taps the syringe. “Don’t worry you’ll only feel a little pinch.” The storm outside continues.
“Erin, are you crazy?”
Erin laughs, “ME? Crazy? Just a little, but so are you. I know you were going to turn me in. Samantha gave you a tape.”
“What are you talking about. I don’t know about any tape.” Kelly tries to find Christian, but doesn’t see him where he was laying earlier.
“Kelly don’t play dumb like your friend Samantha. As you can see, it doesn’t get you anywhere but dead. Don’t worry you’ll be joining your Samantha and Christian here in a minute.”
“GET OFF OF ME! Your hurting my baby.”
“Kelly, are you begging for mercy? Because if you are, you will get no where.” Erin starts to bring the syringe to Kelly’s arm but out of the blue Christian picks her up and tosses her away from Kelly and then he falls to the ground in pain.
Kelly rushes up and grabs the wooden bat and strikes Erin with it causing Erin to fall down the stairs. Kelly rushes down to the ground by Christian and holds him. You can hear police sirens a few blocks away.
CHAPTER 19
a few days later at Samantha’s funeral
Kelly walks up to the coffin and smiles at her friend, “Sam, I’m sorry that it has to be you laying there so beautiful. You were always a very cheerful person, I wish I was a cheerful as you were. But I wasn’t. You were the greatest friend a girl could have.” Kelly then did the honors of closing the coffin and then some gentlemen carried Samantha away, Kelly’s brother, Justin, was one of the gentleman. Christian then hugged Kelly as she cried.
"Kelly, it's over now. Erin is gone. Noone else will die"
CHAPTER 20
At Kelly and Christian’s graduation party at the beach in the month June.
Kelly smiles at Christian and Christian smiles back. Ben walks up to his sister, “Well sis, just a few more months left and you will be a mother.”
Kelly smiles, “Yeah, I know.” She looks at Christian, “You’ll be a father.”
Christian puts his arms around Kelly from behind and kisses her neck. “Take a walk with me on the beach?”
Kelly turns her around and smiles, “Sure.”
They take each other’s hands and walks away from the group of people and stop. Christian smiles, “"Do you want to splash each other.. see who can knock who in the water first, or skinny dip?” Kelly laughs and then Christian gets down on his knees and takes a little black box out of his pocket, takes Kelly’s hand, “Or will you be my wife?”
Kelly’s face brighten up, “Yes I’ll marry you.”
Christian slips the ring on Kelly’s ring finger and then kisses Kelly. As they kiss everyone runs up and tries to ask them questions but they don’t pay attention.
CHAPTER 21
August 8th in the hospital room
Christian pulls into the ER entrance with Kelly, who is in labor. He helps her out of his neon and he yells for help and a few nurses bring out a wheelchair and wheel Kelly into the ER. Christian rushes behind them. He is stopped at the check-in counter. “Excuse me sir, I need you to fill out a few papers.”
Christian glances at the lady and then at his fiance who is being rushed into a room. “Okay, lets make this quick, I have somewhere important I need to be.”
Then Tony rushes in the emergency room, “Christian, you go.. I’ll fill out these papers.”
Christian smiles, “Thank You sir.” Christian then slips on a gown and rushes by Kelly’s side.
“Kelly it’s okay.” She grabs his hand. “We are going to have a baby.”
Kelly glances at Christian and relaxes after the contraction stops, “Christian, I love you.”
Christian smiles, “I love you, too.” His smile fades as Kelly then falls unconscious and the machine beeps and a straight line appears. Christian yells, “SOMEONE HELP HER.. CODE BLUE.” Tony and others rush in and ask Christian to leave. Christian refuses, “NO I’m staying by her side!” A nurse guides an upset, scared Christian into the waiting room by the rest of the family.
Ben rushes over to Christian, “What she have.” Christian looks into Ben’s eyes and Ben’s smile fades. “She um..” Christian falls to the ground.
Kelly’s mom screams and Justin comforts her and Ben gets down to Christian level, “Is she going to be okay?”
Christian looks up, “Ben, I don’t know. She said she loved me and then she fell unconsious and then flat lined.”
Ben gets up, “She is dead?”
Christian, “I don’t know.”
Ben gets angry, “What do you mean you don’t know? YOUR A DOCTOR for peets sake.”
Christian stands up, “Tony is doing what he can, he maybe able to bring her back.”
About an hour later, the doors open to the ER room and Tony walks over to Christian, taking off his gloves. Christian stares at Tony. Tony clears his throat, “Kelly is suffering from Toxemia. Her blood pressure is very high and she has suffered a seizure.”
Christian puts his hand on his forehead, “What about the baby?”
Tony smiles, “Congratulations, you have a baby girl.”
Christian sighs in relief, “Can I see both my girls?”
Tony’s smile fades, “Um, Christian, Kelly has a lot of wires...”
Christian interrupts, “I don’t care about that, I just want to see her.”
Tony shrugs, “Sure, she is pretty sedated so she may fall in and out of consciousness.”
Christian thanks Tony and then rushes into Kelly’s room. Kelly is laying on the bed with her eyes closed, he walks over and holds her hand. “Kelly, It’s Christian.”
Kelly opens her eyes slowly and smiles, “What we have?”
Christian, “A girl.”
Kelly smiles, “MacKenzie Elizabeth.”
Christian smiles, “Okay I’ll tell everyone her name in a bit.” A tear falls down Christian face.
“Don’t worry Christian, I’m okay, and so is MacKenzie.” She smiles, “Just think after I get out of here we are getting married.”
CHAPTER 22
the wedding, two months later.
(at the alter)
You may now kiss the bride. Christian and Kelly kiss.
(at the party after)
Kelly is holding her baby girl, Christian stands beside his girls with a big smile.
Justin comes up to Kelly, “Kelly, let me hold the baby.”
Kelly looks at her brother, “Will you take good care of her?”
Justin smiles, “I promise.” He holds the baby, “Now you and Christian go dance.”
Kelly and Christian take hands and head of to the dance floor but they run into Jason. Kelly smile fades, “Hi Jason, I’m glad you could come.”
Jason sighs, “I just want to say thank you for getting me out of jail. And I’m sorry about what all happened with Erin.”
Christian smiles, “Hey man, we are sorry that you lost Erin and the baby.”
Jason chuckles, “Oh, that baby wasn’t mine. It was the geeks in the science class. She had just said it was me, she didn't want people to know whose it really was. But it’s probably better she’s dead.” Jason sighs and walks off.
Kelly and Christian begin to slow dance, “Christian, we made it.”
Christian smiles, “Yes, we did.”
