(Thread) Dream Weaving (Ohana/Oz)
She closed her eyes, resting in the room her brother kept for her when she visited. Her mind was open and she was preparing to weave for someone she had not woven with before. She felt a slight tug, the desire for dreaming. She was bound to answer and happy to comply. She was determined to give this dreamer something good to remember.

She started slowly, unfurling her magic like tendrils of thought, moving from her mind to the mind of her new dreamer. It was a young man; Ohana found that most of her dreamers were male, she didn't understand nor really care why. She reached out with suggestions ready for this open mind, hoping that they would work well together.

Oz laid in his bed with the void of darkness looming in his mind. He had not dreamed in years, not since before he lived with his mother, an unhealthy amount of time had passed since he last had a plesant dream. His mind wandered until a he stumbled across a wonderful scene in the woods.

He walked along a path in the woods with his father, who had not aged at all even though Oz's age had not degraded. There was a calming and understanding silence between the two of them. This was long over due.

She wove very carefully for this one. There were pitfalls on every side of the path, beasts in the woods threatening to ruin any peaceful pleasant dream. It was as if Oz (for she had learned his name and some of his secrets just from peering into his dreaming mind) was prepared for a bad dream. Perhaps the other weavers had been cruel to him, and in fact she was browsing through his past dreams while letting Oz move forward unhindered. They should not be so cruel all the time to you, poor boy.

This dream was unlike any other dream he had ever had, it was calm and traquil, he almost forgot the possibility of monsters and hidden dangers. There was kindness in this dream, saving him from the normal darkness.

The leaves from the trees enfolded around father and son, it was a shield from all of the unknown figures dashing through the woods, trying to desperately get to them, but not tonight. "Dad," Oz said lightly.

"There's no need son," Sebastian Myles said lightly, putting his hand on Oz's shoulder.

She hung back, letting Oz supply the details, the threads he needed for her to weave him a pleasant dream. She watched the son and father and knew why he needed this reunion, even if it could only happen in dreams.

They continued walking until they reached a clearing in the woods. Sebastian sat down on a log and offered a seat to Oz. A little fox scurried past the two of them and sat on the edge of the clearing, looking over his shoulder every few seconds.

"Oz, I'm so proud of you..." Sebastian said with a little smile.

"Dad, I can't even look at my own mother any more, I can't be around her... I failed you..." Oz said desperately.

Sebastian grinned. "You have failed no one," he said kindly. "You have had a hard life Oz and no one should judge you for that. You've made excellent choices and tried your hardest, there's no reason for you to be ashamed."

"Do you know what I am?" he asked incredulously.

Sebastian nodded his head. "It wasn't your fault."

She was quiet and concerned, working her magic ever so subtlety over the fabric of the dream to give Oz the kind of closure and peace he needed. It was easy and fluid, making small rippled in water until they turned into waves.

Oz looked around the peaceful setting, he felt like this was the last time he would see his father, hs last chance to tell him everything, finally, some closure in his life. "Dad," he began quietly. "All this time I've been blaming myself for your death. If I had just acted quicker, I could have saved you, I could have saved out family."

"You were a child, you did the best that you could," Sebastian said. "There was nothing more you could do."

"But every day I look back on that night and I know I could have stopped it. I could have used my magic faster..."

Sebstian shook his head. "You tried your best and that's all anyone could ask for. This was not your fault, none of it was. And the only thing you can do to make it any better is to continue living. Keep dreaming, push forward, let go of all the insecurities. Out there," he pointed beyond the trees and the lurking shadows. "There's something great out there for you Oz."

Oz smiled, deep inside he knew it was right. His father had never steered him wrong, not since he was a child. Sebastian stood up from the log. "Where are you going?"

"Back into the woods, where I belong," Sebastian said.

"But it's scary in there."

"Not once you turn on the light Oz," Sebastian walked out of the clearing and down a path. Oz watched as his father disappeared into the woods, a little floating ball of light hoovering above Sebastian's head the entire time.

She was careful to ease the dream back slowly, following Oz as his eyes remained on his father. She stood very near him, cloaked in the fabric of his dreams so that he could not see her.

I will not let them near your head again, even if I have to weave every one of your dreams myself, she vowed. Her lips twitched into a smile and she placed a careful hand on his back, just a tiny push to get him back on the path out of the woods and into the calm of night where the deepest parts of sleep could claim him.

Oz felt as though someone was guiding him back into sleep. He felt at peace, calm, collected. The next few hours of his life were the most serene moments he had experienced in a life, thanks to someone he didn't even know.
