(Thread) Monday afternoon, Salem Academy (Sam/Garage/Evie C./Enki)
"Hey," she said, smiling around the bit of sandwich she held near her mouth.

"Hey what," he said, smirking at her behind his bit of sandwich. They were surprisingly good today. He didn't always like his wife's cooking, often he found it inedible. At the moment he was impressed; these sandwiches were delicious.

"You like it," she said proudly.

"I do," he said sweetly and took another huge bite as if to prove the statement true. He finished up the sandwich pretty quickly. He liked those rare days when Samra stopped by to bring him lunch and share a bite, but today wasn't such a good day for it. Some of his students had made a breakthrough spell and they requested to work with him very early in the afternoon. He had to finish up quick and go.

Sam understood and finished up her own lunch quickly. She followed up their sandwiches with some fresh fruit she'd picked from the trees lining their backyard. Smiling over at him she leaned over his desk and kissed him warmly. "I'll see you at home," she said.

He winked and grinned, the problems between them so easily forgotten in the light of such sweet moments. "I'll see you then," he replied and cleaned up his office desk as she headed towards the door.

Leaving his office with a bright smile on her face, Sam entered the busy hallway just outside of her husband's office door. The students were heading to and from classes, the usual hustle and bustle that took place at Salem. She almost missed it, having graduated recently.

Heading towards the main entrance she took her time milling about and watching the busy mages happily going about their business.

Evie leaned against one of the stone walls near a small class room. She was waiting to meet Enki after his last class of the day. They met up regularly outside of class to hang out and go around town. She smiled when she saw Enki stroll out of his class, wearing his usual big smile. "Hey Enki," she said warmly to her little friend.
From: [info]little_mage Date: 08/13/2007 02:20:25

"Hi Evie!" he said excitedly waving. It was their day to go do something outside of school. He wondered what they would do today, since the two of them never seemed to plan anything, they just went where ever the wind took them. Although they were both very young, the way they acted toward each other was as if they were old, old friends. "How are you today?" he asked as he grabbed her hand and started walking toward the main entrance of the school.
From: [info]evie_chanson Date: 08/13/2007 02:21:04

"I'm doing good, how about you?" she asked him, giving his hair a little ruffle with her free hand.
From: [info]little_mage Date: 08/13/2007 02:22:13

"Good! I'm excited about today, are you?" he asked looking around the hall. Someone caught his eye and before Evie could answer he came to a hault and tugged on her hand a little more. "Look! Evie! It's Sam!" he pulled Evie toward the woman he recognized.
From: [info]evie_chanson Date: 08/13/2007 02:23:04

Evie smiled and followed Enki's lead. "Hi Sam," she said. "What brings you here today?" she asked.
From: [info]little_mage Date: 08/13/2007 02:23:22

"Hi Sam!" Enki said enthusiastically.
From: [info]samra_chance Date: 08/13/2007 02:30:47

"Hey you!" she called back and opened her arms for a hug. "Hi," she said to Evie over Enki's shoulder.
From: [info]little_mage Date: 08/13/2007 02:33:36

Enki gave Sam a big hug and smiled.
From: [info]evie_chanson Date: 08/13/2007 02:42:36

"Were you visiting Professor Garage?" Evie asked with a grin as Enki stepped back and took her hand again. Evie knew Garage, not well, but she knew him outside of school from their run-ins at Cap Ou Pas Cap. She had always felt strange calling him Master Chance, but Garage didn't sound right either, so she resolved to calling him Professor Garage on her own accont. She was not sure if this was acceptable, but she had a habit of pushing the boundaries.
From: [info]samra_chance Date: 08/13/2007 02:48:56

"I brought him lunch," she said with a slight smile. She always got a kick out of the students calling him professor or master. Garage didn't mind either way; he wouldn't have cared if they called him just Garage. "I like to treat him every now and again," she added. "What are you two up to?" She'd grown used to seeing them together at Cap Ou Pas Cap and on her occassional visits to school. She was happy to see that Enki had a friend, even if they had a vast gulf of age difference between them.
From: [info]little_mage Date: 08/13/2007 02:52:16

"Today is our day-on-the-town," Enki announced. "But we never really make plans," he explained. "We just go," a big smile made his way across his little face and he pulled Evie closer to him. He put his hand to her ear and whispered, quite clearly, "Can we invite Sam?"
From: [info]evie_chanson Date: 08/13/2007 02:52:55

Evie smiled. "Of course," she said. "Would you like the honor Enki?" she asked him.
From: [info]little_mage Date: 08/13/2007 02:54:10

"Sam, would you like to accompany us on our day-on-the-town?" he asked with a sweet smile.
From: [info]samra_chance Date: 08/13/2007 03:04:16

"I would be greatly honored," Samra replied, as she had no real plans for the day herself. "Where to first?" she asked happily.
From: [info]evie_chanson Date: 08/13/2007 03:34:11

"Perhaps we could start our afternoon in Salem, stop in a few of the local shops. I haven't been in town in a while," Evie suggested.
From: [info]samra_chance Date: 08/13/2007 03:38:10

"Sounds lovely," Sam said, taking Enki's hand in her own. "Shall we?" she asked. As much as she hated to admit it, she really liked the idea of adopting Enki. He was a wonderful, energetic kid and she was already quite fond of him. It was really only the next logical step, to take him into her home and share his laughter. Perhaps it would be what they both needed to solve those major minor trust issues.
From: [info]little_mage Date: 08/13/2007 03:53:43

Enki gladly took Sam's hand. There were a few very good people who always seemed to make him feel comfortable, Sam and Evie were of those people. "We shall," he said brightly. Enki thought that this would be a lovely tradition to start, a day out on the town with two of his favorite ladies. "Last time Evie and Oz brought me out to Cap ou Pas Cap and we found a little toy animal to play with."
From: [info]evie_chanson Date: 08/13/2007 03:54:23

"Speaking of animals where is Tully?" Evie asked, noticing the absense of her favorite puppy.
From: [info]little_mage Date: 08/13/2007 03:55:44

"Tully and Ari are having a boys night in with Oz. He said it would be nice to treat them to a day of pampering," Enki said.
From: [info]samra_chance Date: 08/13/2007 04:14:27

Sam thought this was a little odd. "You let your familiar go with someone else?" she asked. She didn't have a familiar of her own, so she didn't know if this was a weird thing or not. She had never seen Garage without Ete somewhere around. If not in his office then lounging somewhere in the house; where Garage was so was his silky little cat.
From: [info]little_mage Date: 08/13/2007 04:17:35

"Tully likes to visit Oz, he takes very good care of him, but he will only go with Oz when I'm with Evie," Enki said. Tully and Ari were a bit odd when it came to who they were around. Typically, familiars did not talk to other people and they were usually around their mage, but since all three students were so close, so were their familiars. Enki could not explain this properly though so he looked to Evie, in hopes that she could better explain.
From: [info]evie_chanson Date: 08/13/2007 04:20:13

"Oz doesn't have a familiar, but Ari talks to him. I was never sure why though," Evie said with a little blush. "It's almost like Ari is taking care of both of us," she smiled a little, hoping that Oz saw it the same way.
From: [info]samra_chance Date: 08/13/2007 04:24:35

"Oh," she said quietly. She understood the need for companionship, but she had never been lacking for not having a familiar. Everyone who didn't know the reason assumed she was like Hamlin, one of those rare mages that didn't have a familiar. It was actually because she was half-faerie, enough so that she had never found a familiar. She wasn't sure the real reason, but her father mentioned it had something to do with dust. Perhaps familiars didn't like faerie dust, or were allergic to it. She smiled however. "He's very thoughtful then," she said of Ari.
From: [info]evie_chanson Date: 08/13/2007 04:36:23

"Yes, he's very kind," she said thinking of the orange tabby and his relaxed attitude. Evie was sure that Sam did not have a familiar, but she had seen Garage walking around with a little black cat quite often and was sure that she was his familiar. She wondered if the cat ever spoke to Sam because she didn't have a familiar.

Evie shook off the thoughts of familiars and took a look at their surroundings. "I can't believe how fast the days seem to be moving lately," she said after the air was cleared of their silence.
From: [info]samra_chance Date: 08/13/2007 04:39:11

"I know. It'll be fall soon. Cold air and falling leaves." She smiled, thinking of how pretty their backyard would be. "Won't it be wonderful?" she asked of her companions as they meandered down the front lawn of the school out into the streets of Salem.
From: [info]evie_chanson Date: 08/13/2007 04:40:13

Evie closed her eyes in the greeting wind and smiled. "Fall is my favorite season," she said softly.
From: [info]little_mage Date: 08/13/2007 04:41:47

"I love to make the leaves go into one pile and then jump in them. The leaves spray every where, especially when Tully runs through them too," Enki laughed a little, remembering how his puppy and he used to cause chaos near the opening of the woods every fall.
From: [info]samra_chance Date: 08/13/2007 04:56:59

"I'll bet you make a fine mess," she said, as if admiring his handiwork in her imagination. "I do like to stir up the leaves myself." She grinned and lead them into a little shop that sold confections. "How would you like some chocolate?" she offered, thinking on how nice it would be to have some more dessert.
From: [info]little_mage Date: 08/13/2007 04:58:12

Enki's eyes lit up. "We do make a lovely mess," he said softly. "I would love some chocolate," he said unable to contain his smile.
From: [info]samra_chance Date: 08/13/2007 05:09:55

"What kind do you like?" she asked as she ogled all the goods beneath the glass counter. There were many lovely confections there, but she was eyeing a tray of white chocolate truffles filled with vanilla cream and raspberries. "I think I'd like one of everything," she joked.
From: [info]little_mage Date: 08/13/2007 05:23:21

"I like the kind with the gooey middle and the shell on the outside," Enki said as he looked in through the glass case.
From: [info]evie_chanson Date: 08/13/2007 05:25:04

"Dark chocolate truffles," Evie said gently looking at what Enki was practically salavating over. "You have good taste," she said approvingly with a smile.
From: [info]samra_chance Date: 08/13/2007 05:41:10

Sam pointed into the case and ordered enough of each to keep all three of them happy. The girl behind the counter filled a bag with them and passed them to Samra as she passed money back in the other direction. A lot of places in Salem were taking New Meridian money now and Sam was glad enough that she could earn some by selling some of her inventions. "One for you," she said, taking one out of the bag and passing it to Enki, "one for you," and here she passed one to Evie, "and one for me!" she said happily, taking one of the white chocolate truffles for herself.
From: [info]evie_chanson Date: 08/13/2007 05:45:29

"Thank you," Evie said greatfully. She had been having a chocolate craving all afternoon. The truffle was just what she needed and it melted perfectly as she bit through it.
From: [info]little_mage Date: 08/13/2007 05:47:42

"Thanks Sam!" Enki said as he ate the chocolate truffle. It was one of the most delicious things he had ever eaten. "This is so delicious," he said licking his fingers clean of chocolate.
From: [info]samra_chance Date: 08/13/2007 05:50:50

Sam grinned as they headed from the shop and back out into the street again. "Did you have any other places you really wanted to visit?" she asked, tucking the bag of chocolate into the knapsack she'd used to bring lunch to Garage.
From: [info]little_mage Date: 08/13/2007 05:59:54

"Can we go to the toy shop?" Enki asked as they strolled down the street. Even if he didn't get toys all of them time, he just loved to look at them and see how some of them worked. It was almost as interesting as Cap ou Pas Cap.

Enki's bracelet glistened in the sunlight and made his eyes squint for a second, reminding him that he would never be without it.
From: [info]samra_chance Date: 08/13/2007 06:27:48

"Yes, let's go. I haven't been in such a long time. It might be fun just to go look," though she had a very good idea that she wouldn't be able to walk out of the store without getting something for Enki. The kid was so damned cute and she couldn't resist treating him when she knew so few people did.
From: [info]evie_chanson Date: 08/15/2007 17:16:42

"I hadn't thought of that," Evie said with a smile. "Good idea Enki," she patted the boy on the head. Every time she and Enki went out they usually ended up back at Cap ou Pas Cap and even though there were a few trinkets there that were suitable for children, it was no toy store.
From: [info]little_mage Date: 08/15/2007 17:23:25

Enki smiled wide, hoping he could try to barter some old trinkets for a new toy with the clerk. "I think I might be able to get a stringy ball for this," he held out a hand full of rusted old caps. "Maybe some toggy pogs," he added.
From: [info]samra_chance Date: 08/16/2007 08:40:57

"I haven't played toggy pogs in years," Sam exclaimed. "I might have to get some myself." She laughed lightly, a pretty sound that seemed to fill the air around her.
From: [info]little_mage Date: 08/19/2007 16:15:44

Enki smiled. "That would be fun!" he said excitedly. "We could play toggy pogs together!" He hadn't had someone to play the silly game with him in about a year, since he had moved away from the other shifters.
From: [info]evie_chanson Date: 08/19/2007 16:25:34

"Yeah, I haven't played toggy pogs since I was really little," Evie said thinking back on the days when Oz and she used to play the game outside in the courtyard while Ari would lay in the grass and watch.
From: [info]samra_chance Date: 08/21/2007 13:58:05

"Well let's see," Samra said as she perused the section dedicated to toggy pogs. She was taking herself with a rather goofy sense of seriousness. "Oh I dunno," she mumbled, "which would be the best?" she finally asked Enki, as if he were the expert.
From: [info]little_mage Date: 08/22/2007 20:16:48

Enki examined all the different kinds of toggy pogs. All the different brands, colors, and designs. He lifted them as if he was weighing them and comparing the different kinds. "Everyone buys toggy pogs for the designs, but what they don't realize is that the more simple and clean they are, the better the toggy pog," he said wisely of the toys. "I find this type quite exceptional," he said brandishing a simple midnight blue toggy pog.
From: [info]samra_chance Date: 08/24/2007 09:01:48

She admired the toggy pog and how much his vocabulary had grown since he was hanging out with Evie fairly regularly. He seemed to like big words and even bigger phrases. "It is good," she said and picked out one similar in a pleasing shade of light green. "We need more than one to play though, don't we?" she said, with the sort of suggestive smile that Enki could easily read by now.
From: [info]little_mage Date: 08/29/2007 18:22:44

"Yes, that is a very good toggy pog," he said approvingly, noting that Samra had very good taste in her toggy pog collection. "We need a few to play a really good game," he said. "The more toggy pogs, the better your chances are of winning," he said. "Of course the rules vary according to who ever you're playing with, but it's the same concept," for being seven he had an extensive vocabulary, due in part to his older companions.

Enki was like a little business man, the resident genius in toggy pogs. He was introduced to the game at a young age and won a lot of games. It was quite possibly one of his favorite things to do. "And we would need a starter toggy pog," he said picking up a thicker pog and showing it to Samra and Evie.
From: [info]samra_chance Date: 08/30/2007 13:52:28

"Then we should probably get a full two sets," she said, picking up several others and picking up a starter toggy pog to add to the pile. "So we can have a really good game."
From: [info]little_mage Date: 09/03/2007 02:21:02

"That's a good idea," he said looking at the pile. "I bet you're really good at toggy pogs," he smiled.
From: [info]samra_chance Date: 09/03/2007 20:02:38

"Oh, I'm all right," she said with a little smile. "I bet you're better," she added and winked while picking out a handful of the pogs he had suggested.
From: [info]little_mage Date: 09/07/2007 14:53:02

He blushed lightly. "Yeah, I guess I'm pretty good," he said shyly.

OOC: I'm sorry! For some reason I never get the email from this thread! I don't know why and I keep forgetting to check it.
From: [info]evie_chanson Date: 09/07/2007 14:55:50

"Pretty good?" Evie grinned. "Well, he always beats Oz and me," she said fondly, patting his shoulder.
From: [info]samra_chance Date: 09/08/2007 04:43:02

"Then there's a fair chance you'll beat me too," Samra said with a big grin. She brought the collection of toggy pogs to the counter and bought the lot, putting it all in one bag. "So, where are we playing?" she asked.
From: [info]little_mage Date: 09/09/2007 00:38:07

Enki's face lit up and he grinned widely. "I think there's a nice park over this way, right Evie?" he asked pointing in a direction out the shop window and moving his hand a little to indicate the direction he was pointing.
From: [info]samra_chance Date: 09/09/2007 21:11:29

"Wonderful!" Samra said cheerfully, packing up her purchases and following her friends out of the store and towards the sidewalk.
From: [info]little_mage Date: 09/10/2007 22:50:26

As they settled down Enki explained all the rules of toggy pogs. "First you have to stack the little ones up like this, everyone starts with an even amount," he stacked up the toggy pogs. "Then you take the big one and press down on the stack," he demonstrated it as he pushed on the stack. The stack showed signs of weakness and then over half the stack fell to the ground. He smiled widely. "Now you have to count how many toggy pogs flipped over to the back side and take them," he then stacked the remaining toggy pogs and grinned.
From: [info]samra_chance Date: 09/11/2007 12:29:24

"I think I'm in trouble," Samra joked with Evie. "Do we want a lot of toggy pogs?" she asked Enki.
From: [info]little_mage Date: 09/11/2007 23:10:05

"Yep!" Enki smiled.
From: [info]evie_chanson Date: 09/11/2007 23:11:46

"We are most certainly in for it," Evie grinned. She had been thouroughly beat by Enki the past few times that they had played the game together and she was sure she hadn't gotten any better at the art of applying pressure to the toggy pogs.
