After shaking her head, Bethany looked back down to the mud that she was half-heartedly toying with. She stabbed the stick further into the mud before she even heard the noise in the river.
Looking up, at first she just...Stared. Shahrivar, upon hearing those words and having his "toy" taken away gave a couple of growling barks in reply before returning to the shore. He immediately began to shake the water off of his body, getting said water all over Bethany, but...
She just blinked slowly at the creature in the water. Bethany sensed something familiar about the creature, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. So, instead of opening her mouth to say anything, she just stared at it with big, pale blue eyes.
After a moment her wings shifted and vanished again, and she remained where she was -- sitting with her feet out in front of her and a very wet, slightly unhappy hellhound at her right side.

Jones put up a hand, stepping closer to the shore as her wings vanished. "No, wait--"
Then he paused. Maybe that wasn't the best way to go about things. He was still... dripping wet and coming out of a river. "Err. Right, then." A few steps brought him to the shore, and Jones took a moment to shake himself off the best he could. Then he bowed, elegantly as his body could manage.
"Sorry if I startled ye," he said, that strange accent lingering on his words. "Not me best entrance, but I didnae have time t' prepare, now. My name is Jones. An', if I may, those wings were quite lovely, miss."

Bethany folded her feet back towards her body as the creature started to talk, but she still just stared wide-eyed at him, only ever blinking slowly, with long pauses between blinks.
Shahrivar seemed none to happy that his "toy" that didn't want to be played with was talking to Bethany, and he gently tugged on the long sleeve of her dress. She ignored her dog for the time being and tilted her head just slightly when the creature bowed.
For a long moment she didn't speak. She was trying to figure out just what the sensation she's feeling is. "My hound was chewing on you," she finally spoke the obvious, and her eyebrows arched into her bangs. Her lashes fluttered just slightly, and Bethany finally stood.
"I'm Bethany," she offered the tiniest of smiles. "My wings?" Her eyebrows twitched at that as well, and her eyes shifted down to Sha-Sha, who flopped onto his backside beside her. "Thank you..." She finally offered as she looked back up to Jones. No one had ever really complimented her wings before. "They're kind of useless," she added a moment later and looked down as she allowed her wings to come into view once more. She stretched them out to full length and width, which would nearly make her appearance double in size from the leathery wings alone.
She tilted her eyes back up to look at him with a curious eye. "Where did you come from?" She motioned towards the river with her muddy stick.

"Sorry about that," Bethany mumbled as she looked down at Sha-Sha again who basically gave her a "what? I'm a hound" sort of look. Her mouth twisted slightly as she looked back to Jones and rested her head on her hound's head. "He eats a lot of bones."
Again she tilt her head slightly and peered up at his horns to try to picture him without them. Of course, he was right -- he would look a bit odd without them. Her wings settled once more, folding down and back so they weren't so "out there." She gave another faint smile. "Thanks. I don't generally leave them out, but...I thought I was alone."
Her mouth pursed just slightly at his words, though she wouldn't question him further about the river. It wasn't really her business, after all.
Her eyes shifted to Sha-Sha and she gave a little smile. "His name is Shahrivar." Sha-Sha gave a mighty bark then, as if to "prove" himself to Jones. He started to inch forward, probably intent on trying to gnaw on Jones again, but Bethany tugged him back gently. "What are you?" She finally just asked, the familiar sensation growing rather annoying since he didn't look like anyone she had ever met before.

Bethany remained perfectly still when Jones reached for her, her eyes followed the path of his hand or maybe she was staring at his nails, before she looked up to him again. "There's nothing to be sorry about," she replied quickly, still feeling rather foolish for having said anything at all.
As he talked she remained quiet, leaving her eyes on him and when he spoke of meeting his father certain jealousy ached through her chest. She squinted slightly before sharply turning her attention to the river again. For a moment her jaw tightened, but she took a breath and let it out slowly. "You lived with a mountain?" She'd never heard it put that way before.
Bethany rolled her eyes to look at him again, and for a moment she stares, simply looking over his features as her wings twitch just slightly. "I go to school at the academy," she answered and pointed off towards where the school would rest. "I live in Salem, grew up here..." She mumbled the last part as she bobbed her feet a little. "I don't really have any family left," she shrugged. Sure, her aunt is still around, but it's not like Bethany would ever go out of her way to see or talk to that crazy woman.
