(Thread) Thursday afternoon, Salem Academy (open)
So far classes had been smooth. He'd been hanging in the elemental wing, since his spell class kids were mostly busy until afternoon. There were a few around who had an interest in iron, though this morning they were working with steel. They were a little more advanced this morning and he was impressed with how much these kids had mastered. They could do things with metal that he hadn't really thought of. He was just beginning to learn that his students could teach him almost as much as he could teach them.

He made the long walk down to he middle school wing of Salem and settled into his favored classroom. He had a big board on which he could magic chalk to write and plenty of surfaces on which to work a variety of spells. He had a store of ingredients in cabinets (in the event that their spells required more than just incantation) and plenty of ideas. He was working on new chanting ideas, though he wasn't sure they were quite ready to try out with students.

Sitting in the comfy chair he had up front (he didn't really have his own desk in this room; he preferred to save that level of separation for his office). He waited for some students to show up. They had a tendency to straggle in as the afternoon wore on and pick up work on all manner of things. Whatever it was that they wanted to learn, he'd oblige them happily. In truth, he preferred his students to lead the class when he didn't have any concrete ideas on what to teach himself.

In the hallway, Sasha Petriogarv was hanging up bits of string and little five-petalled wildflowers over some of the eaves and doorhangings. He smiled and sang to herself. As she did as children made very little effort not to knock her over. She was having a very nice afternoon of making the school nice.

She noticed Garage's class was beginning. It was very easy going and unstructured. She only hoped it wasn't so unstructured that the children who would forget to study.

SHe liked the young man and decided that his classroom needed some asphodel and edelweiss. So she would have to swing by the class and see what was going on.

"Hallo Garage. How is the class going." The older woman smiled heaving the ladder mostly by herself. SHe didn't need help with any of the repairs at school, she had spent seven weeks in drag pretending to be a maintenance man for undisclosed reasons. "It looks like you could use some flowers in here. Yes?"

"Sure," he said cheerfully. He'd always liked Sasha, as weird as she was. "Perhaps over the windows?" he suggested lightly. It was the furthest from any of the students working on their various spells.

She fussed around with the festoons of flowers and fluffed them out till their green intense non flowery smell filled the room, but it was still mostly pleasant, unless one had allergies.
"It's just like spring vhen I vas a girl." She sighed "So nice and fresh." She smiled "Sure to keep out the blood sucking antipaisions."
She smiled.
"You should definitely have some for your house. Its a repellent to nargles, baingtos, trolls and antipaisions. Right over the window." She handed Garage a large bunch of the flowers "Wouldn't want the evil spirits to get at the missus, ja? Maybe in thirty or forty years but now you are newlyveds."

He looked down at the flowers, a tiny smile on his face. "No. I wouldn't want evil spirits to get her ever," he said. He ran his fingers over the flowers very delicately. "Have you been protecting the whole school then?" he asked, wondering how DeVries would react to Sasha's unconventional ways. He figured she knew and listened to all the old wife's tales, took them as genuine knowledge.

Sasha smiled "So how is the vife?" She smiled. "I hope you two are enjoying your honeymoon. Nothing like the first few years of marriage... except for the last ten minutes of marriage with the break up sex."
She cooed at him and pinched his cheek. "TO be young man again." She sighed. "Though I was only a man three days that time. A terrible bet." She said "But you get the idea."

He blushed a little and tried to hide his embarrassment. "Well, I imagine that was fun," he said about her transformation into a man. "Sam's good," he said, or at least she was presenting a good face to him. He knew she had things on her mind and Hamlin was still trying to get them to adopt Enki. "Same as usual," he said lightly, though really nothing had been the same since they'd made the marriage bond.

"Well You to will get over the same as usual and get back to making love in every room in your house."
She climbed up the ladder again. By the way you can thank Mrs chance for the new icemaker. It works a nice, my kitchen is working better all the time. You've got yourself a keeper. It never hurts to have a handyman around the house. Or handy person." She smiled.
"Anything to fix the plumbing late in the middle of the night. You'll thank your stars the first time the toilet backs up at 3AM."

He nodded very slowly. Sometimes Sasha was the queen of "too much information."

"I'll keep that in mind," he replied quietly, though he wasn't about to divulge anything about his lovemaking habits or any need for a handy person around in the house. "I'll let her know you like it," he said.

"Ah Mister Chance. Not one to kiss and tell." she smiled. "Why are all the cute ones taken?" She wanted to fluff his hair. "Well don't forget to read Mister Jack's memos. He spent all evening writing them out. Couldn't even take me out last evening for a quick beer." She pointed to the papers on his desk.

"Ah," Garage said, as if he'd just noticed the pile of memos. They'd been building up on his desk for a week and a half now. "I seem to overlook them. You know the students, distracting little creatures they are."
From: [info]old_and_mad Date: 08/13/2007 11:54:15

Pah well someone should read them. The boy works so hard on them It would be silly if no one did at all." He even used the stationary Uncle Giacomo bought for his birthday. Linen paper." She held it up to the light "So fancy. Its like a wedding invitation." She said And she read a few, laughing "Oh mercy me! heehehe"

"I'll be sure to peruse them before I leave today," though that was about as likely as Garage deciding he was really more suited to government and taking up a career with his uncle in Parliament. He smiled mildly over to Sasha before his attention was drawn to one of his students, hand raised with a question.
