I live in Mie Prefecture, located about an hour southwest of Nagoya, and a couple hours east of Kyoto and Osaka. Mie is a great place to appreciate beautiful nature and real Japanese culture. It's not too big, not too small. (Well, okay - small compared to what I'm used to!) I moved here from Tokyo in November 2003 and I truly feel like a member of the community I live in. While Tsu is the capital of Mie, the part of Tsu that I live in (Takanoo-cho) is set back a bit from the rest of the city, so it's very easy to run into students and parents on a very regular basis around here. Therefore I try not to go to the grocery store in my jammies to buy liquor too often. : ) |
