| Yellow is butterflies bathed in light, A field of daisies and daffodils bright. It's cornbread and butter, a pot of honey, A candle's flicker, a day that is sunny. Red makes you more alert and active. Red is a fire engine, bright and exciting, Or a beautiful rose with petals inviting. It's a ripe tomato plucked from the vine, Or candy cotton from some earlier time. It's a hunter's coat, a tartan clan, A satin ribbon, a peppermint band. It's strawberries, melon, and good things to eat. Red is exciting and always a treat. Orange is another warm and lovely color. Orange is a flame mixed with emotion. It's a painted sunset across the ocean. It's the color of autumn, rich in appeal, Nutmeg and pumpkins, a Thanksgiving meal. Burnt or bittersweet, peachy or bright, Orange as an accent can be just right. The cool colors...blue,green,and blue-green... found in the sky, the trees, and grasses are calming and relaxing. This is another reason that walking outdoors is such a health-promoting practice. Blue is the sky on a bright summer day, Or it's cold and bleak in a winter way. Blue is the sea, a fish, or a book, An aster, a sapphire, a feeling, a look. It's a blue-winged teal that quacks aloud. Blue is majesty wrapped in a cloud. Green has universal appeal. It is the most restful of all colors. It is the principal color in nature, providing a rich background for all other colors. Green is the springtime after the snow... Rich and appealing, Nature's aglow. It's a doorway at Christmas, an emerald ball, The ocean in summer, an evergreen tall. Green is a cucumber, a salad that's crisp. Green as a color is never a risk. |
