L7 is a Punk/Grunge/Metal band formed in 1985 by Guitarists and Vocalists Donita Sparks and Suzi Gardner. They linked with bassist and vocalists Jennifer Finch and drummer Demetra Plakas ("Dee"). The group signed with Epitaph label in '88 and released their self-titled album. Sub Pop Records interest in L7 helped them release "Smell the Magic", a grunge flavored album which helped them tour with bands such as Nirvana and Hole. In April of '92, L7 released "Bricks are Heavy", which was a major success with single "Pretend We're Dead". L7 then appeared in a John Waters movie 'Serial Mom' as a band named 'Camel Lips' before releasing the album "Hungry for Stink" in '94. In the summer of '96, Jennifer Finch left the band. Gail Greenwood replaced her following the release of the album "The Beauty Process: Triple Platinum" in '97. In late '98, Krist Novoselic directed the tour film 'The Beauty Process' as L7 released their Live album "L7's Live: Omaha to Osaka". Gail Greenwood left the band shortly afterwards. The remaining members released the album "Slap Happy" in '99 with Waxtadpole label. In 2002, L7 released their compilation "The Best of the Slash Years".
