Herbert approaches his usual bus stop, 6 minutes before his bus is due to arrive, after a grueling day at work. |
10 minutes pass, and it has still not arrived. Herbert begins to develop that slightly abandoned feeling that accompanies missing buses and being forgotten by rides. |

10 minutes turn to 30. He is alternately filled with blind hope that it will come, and crushing despair that it will not. He is unable to decide on a course of action. |
After a brief inner war . . . |
