Herbert approaches his usual bus stop, 6 minutes before his bus is due to arrive, after a grueling day at work.

10 minutes pass, and it has still not arrived. Herbert begins to develop that slightly abandoned feeling that accompanies missing buses and being forgotten by rides.

10 minutes turn to 30. He is alternately filled with blind hope that it will come, and crushing despair that it will not. He is unable to decide on a course of action.

After a brief inner war . . .

. . .Herbert decides to stick it out and wait for another bus.

An hour or so later, he begins to regret that decision.
