| ABATE Local 19 and Pomona Valley HOG held a cool toy run at the Elks Lodge in Ontario. It was to raise toys for Operation Santa Claus, Inc.....and boy did we raise some !! The pile of toys was huge before it was over. I love toy runs anyway, they make ya feel good because your helping make the kids happy during a time of year that being poor can really make you down. I was eager to ride when I got up Sunday, had some new stuff on the scoot and was anxious to see how it was going to handle on the freeways and it was a beautiful day on top of it all. It was smooth sailing all the way....Sunday mornings arent usually too bad but I wasn't looking forward to the ride home. Sunday evenings ending a holiday weekend can be terror in So Cal. Got to the event and there were toys, decorated bikes, ballons, vendors, scoots, Santas, beer food, tunes .....and I could go on, but I wont. I was a little disappointed that the games didn't include a slow race or anything you can do solo but they were fun to watch anyway. Instead of the traditional "weenie bite" the had cookie candy canes dunked in cool whip. Also a dress the snowman game where passenger put parts on a styrafoam snowman with velcro as they ride by and to end it a game for the kids, a snowball toss......small white ballons with a very small amount of water, they were to toss ballons in a bucket......turned out not as easy as it seemed it would be. I couldnt beleive all the Orange Co folks I saw there, most don't seem to be at events more than a few miles away. It was over at 2 pm and I sped to the house trying to beat the holiday traffic. Turned out to be amazingly quiet......A very nice ride home to end a pretty cool day. Oh, the bike rode GREAT too, so glad I finally got the front end fixed, what a difference :) . |
