Reading
Sight Words will go home every Monday along with Take home books.  Please do one sight word activity a night.  I will be collecting those every following Monday.  I will be testing the first graders on their recognition of the words.  I will also be testing them on their reading.  We are now doing many Kindergarten review activities and are learning about nouns and verbs.

Math
We are reviewing our numbers and fixing any backwards numbers that we might be making!  We are doing a lot of graphing and tally marking.  Ask us to sing our number songs.  We are saying numbers in Spanish and are making calendars.  We also have a hundreds chart to count down to our 100th day of school!

Science
We are learning about living and nonliving things.  We are lucky to have some creepy crawly caterpillars to take care of from the Bickelhaupt family!

Social Studies
We are talking about families and the roles that different family members may have.  We learned about different celebrations and holidays.

Religion

We have learned that God created us and loves us very much.  We are learning how to act as followers of Jesus.  We are working on our prayers as well.

Handwriting

We have worked on making slanting and straight lines and circles to form letters.  We have worked on the proper way to write a sentence.  We will be learning how to fit our words onto the right lines of our paper.
