| High Frequency Words- are the words that appear most often in printed materials. Learning to recognize high-frequency words by sight is critical to developing fluency in reading. Recognizing these words gives students a basic context for figuring out other words. During the first six weeks of school, the first graders will bring home sight word flashcards and an activity page. One activity should be completed each night. I will collect these each Monday. I will be testing the first graders every Friday on their high frequency word recognition and in October we begin Spelling tests. |
