| Welcome to Room 8! I am sure that you and your family are very excited that you are starting school! You might be a little nervous too! This is ok! We will do lots of fun things this year and you will make lots of friends! I have been busy over the summer getting our room ready. You would be surprised to see what it looked like before you came! During the first week of school we will spend alot of time familiarizing ourselves with our classroom, our rules and our school! We will have plenty of time to make art projects and read stories! We will even have snack everyday in the morning! |
| This wall has our "award winning work" (which you will be adding to all year), a theme that we are working on, our punctuation pencils, and our All About Me board. You will each get a chance to be on the All About Me board and can bring in a favorite book and a favorite toy. |
| These shelves have many books, games, math manipulatives, puzzles, and magnetic activities. They also hold our file folder games, desk games, and seasonal words to use when writing. These games have math concepts and language arts concepts and we will use them during area time or if we are finished with our work. On top are "Spacemen" that we will use when writing. We will also use the "Follow your Eyes" pointers and "Monster Fingers" when reading. |
| Next to our book area we have many stuffed friends and puppets to play with and read to! We also have our book buddies bulletin board with our book buddies under it! They help us with our reading strategies and if we get stuck on any words! |
| This is our Helpers Bulletin Board. Every week a different sea creature will be moved to a job by our fishing bear. Up above are "Color Critters in Cars" Next to the Helpers Board is our beehive and class rules. We will learn about making good choices! |
| Our mailboxes are next to the word wall and will be filled with important papers to take home every Wednesday. Please return envelopes EMPTY on Thursday. |
| This is our 100's chart and our Bug Grouping Chart. We will be counting down to our 100th Day of School during calendar time. Next to that is our "Question of the Day". Everyone has a clothespin with their name on it and we will check the results! |

| This is our calendar. Every morning we will talk about the weather, season, date, etc. We each have a calendar and 100's chart to work on at our desks together! We will be counting days of school and on our 100th day we have a party! We also have a math problem of the day that we work on! Our prayer table is next to our calendar. |

| This is our classroom TV with some of the children from "It's a Small World". Six different countries are represented. On special days we will watch movies or even videos that are about what we are learning. |
| This is my desk that will be adorned with your artwork. I have many shelves behind my desk stacked with learning materials and of course Winnie the Pooh and friends. (Can you tell I love Disney things?) |
| This is King Louie. He watches over our book area and makes sure we are taking care of our books. |
| These bins hold more games, flashcards, science activities, magnets, building toys and other things to work on when we are done with our lessons. |

| This is our Language Arts board with reading tips, blends and word family centers, our poem chart, and our noun,verb, and adjective chart. We do have four computers in our classroom and will use the school computer lab as well! |

| This is our Tooth Chart. When you lose a tooth at school you get an award, a sticker, and a tooth necklace! Every time you lose a tooth you will get a tooth sticker with your name on it to put on our chart! |
| This is our homework board. Whenever we have homework, we will write it down in our assignment notebook that is in our MOOSE book. The yellow pocket chart will hold our sight words or spelling words that we are working on. Our clock is numbered to help us tell time! We will learn how to tell time this year! |
| This is our birthday chart! On your birthday you will get a sticker, a crown, and a pencil! You can bring in a treat for the class if you would like! We have 31 first grade friends. We will celebrate summer birthdays in May! |
| This is Mrs. Moline's work area. She will be helping us learn and grow all year! Your desks start in rows facing the front blackboard and then we switch to groups later on in the year. |
