Our Wedding Process

The Reception Location

We had so much trouble finding a reception location for the year 2000! They always advise people to plan their wedding reception location a year in advance... they should try two years in advance. We started searching about the middle of June in 1999 for the reception and we weren't getting very far. Lucky enough, we found a reception location as close as fifteen minutes. It just happened that the banquet hall at Brittany Hill had been reserved for that day a while back. The day we called to inquier the reservation was canceled! What luck eh? So, just to clear our minds, we want everyone to know we tried to look for something really close.

The Wedding Attire

The groom and his groomsmen had little problem finding a tuxcedo rental shop. On the other hand, the bridesmaids and the bride to be had a whole mess to deal with. We actually went out dress shopping prior to the engagement just to get a clue about what was out there. It really did help. Nick wasn't aware of the dress that was going to be chosen, but we did get ideas. After we were officially engaged on June of 1999, Renee and a few of her bridesmaids went out and did the official gown search. That was the extent of running around for the wedding dress. Then it comes down to the bridesmaids dresses. This is the most horrible part about the wedding planning for the ladies. Nick's mother had found the most wonderful women to make the bridesmaid dresses through her work. More than three months went by with periodic planning of fabric and etc., and out of the blue, the seamstress was offered a wonderful job experience out of town. Well that was fortunate for her, but left us a little stumped. With luck, we found another woman to pick up where we had left with the last seamstress and all is well now. The only difficult part we have to deal with now is that one of the bridesmaids live out of town and will have to have the dress made two weeks from the wedding and trying to schedule a time when all the bridesmaids can meet for fittings and measurements. All we can say is that we are very fortunate things are working out. For any future brides reading this, please note this may be the most frustrating part of the planning.
