Rosemay's Memoir, Chapter VII The Founding of Tempest ((The Actual Facts))

It was Deoch 22. My husband menikmati and I dreamed of having our own guild, and our own home.
Being neither of us was recognized, this was not an easy task. We entered meni's drawings and my literature into contests, but were not selected.

I managed to have menikmati admitted to Valkryies, but to be honest....there were problems within the motley. (see Memoirs chapter VII)
We befriended another member of Valkryies, Viredya, who introduced us to her husband Gradd. Viredya and Gradd agreed to found a guild with meni and me.

This was a very happy time for us. Our dream of Leading our guild was finally becoming a reality. We envisioned a guild where our friends would gather in peace and freedom and never fear the tyranny and domination of leadership. I was a little troubled over the idea that it would be other names that technically would be considered the leadership of the new guild. But meni trusted Vir and Gradd
without question , and I trusted menikmati with my life.

As the time drew near for the formation of the guild, my daughter Lourds reached her mastership as a Prizard. I was still council at Valkryies and felt it would be better for my daughter Lourds to stand in for me. To be honest, she was created to fulfill this destiny. She had all the qualities, charisma and strength that would be needed.

The night of the formation, meni, Lourds, Vir, Gradd, and Gradds brother gathered at Abel Tavern. As fate would have it, Lourds fell asleep and missed the questioning when it came her time. But the Guild was formed. It was named Tempest. This name was chosen by Gradd and no one really had any input. As time would go on, it became obvious that only one individual would be given any
authority within Tempest.

Thing only got worse from that night on. Lourds was denied council at first as punishment for sleeping at the Formation ((It was actually ISP problems)) Meni was made council but was stripped of any authority. Members were only admitted if Gradd asked them to be admitted. The were no rules. The only rule was not pissing off Gradd. There was no reason for the guild. The gathering of friends was a joke since everyone hated each other. We had no board so couldnt communicate. There was no leadership or direction.Council was in name only. They were there just to admit people now and than that were friends of Gradd

Lourds and meni and I were heartbroken. This was not what we had envisioned. The guild we thought we were building did not exist.
The guild was going downhill fast. At this rate it would be disbanned in a matter of weeks. Any improvement or suggestion that Lourds offered was shot down and she would be threatened with exile. Than one day, meni was very close to exile. If he had logged on at that moment he would have been out....exiled from the guild he and Lourds had worked to establish

This was more than Lourds could bear. She vowed that day, she would never see this happen, not while she was alive.

As to be expected, the few members that the Old Tempest managed to admit, began deserting. Who could blame them. Old Tempest was pointless, leadership was mean and not available, council was
powerless, and no one had any sense of brotherhood. The only reason that some stayed was because of meni. Though it was a hard decision to make, Lourds realized they needed to bring
Tempest back down to its feet in order to recreate and rebuild it. As part of Lourds' and her fathers plan to reestablish Tempest, Meni abdicated council and left the guild. As forseen, many members followed him.

Tempest was now deserted. Lourds stuck to the plan to hold on and felt in her heart that she and her father could win this battle. And than one day it happened. Gradd packed up and abandoned Tempest. He and Vir were no longer together so she had left weeks earlier. Gradds brother was asked to leave so he had gone. I heard that the reason for Gradd leaving was that Tempest was too dumb for him and not the guild he wanted. How odd. Maybe a little leadership and foresight might have helped. Oh well

And the rest, my friends, is history. Lourds was the only remaining active member of Tempest, and the one Council Member. She set to work writing the Bylaws of Tempest, Mission Statement and other guild documents. Together with her beloved Uncle Sylvus and her father menikmati, they once again gathered their friends old and new . There were many letters to Nexon to acquire a guild board but it was finally granted . Tempest Lived! And it was strong.About this time, I left Valkryies and joined Tempest.
(see memoirs Chapter VII)
Meni was readmitted into the guild as planned. We set about readmitting members, our old friends, and new ones those that thirsted for Freedom and brotherhood. They granted us a board when we reached a certain amount of members. Now we needed to add council. Since Lourds was not the official Guild Leader, there was even more paperwork required. This went on for weeks. Finally Nexon agreed to transfer leadership to Lourds after proof was given that Gradd abandoned Tempest and Dark ages, and the majority of the members emailed Nexon with their vote for her as Guild Leader. The one thing that was missing was an official Website. Lourds tired of depending on others who promised to help, but didnt. She trained herself and put up this website. It may not be glorious but it does what it needs to do

The result is the Tempest you see today. Strong, Free and Living the dream we envisioned back in Deoch 22
