Welcome to the Budgies Page

Mr. Tickles
Mr. Tickles (bright green) is our oldest budgie.
We've had him for over 6 years now.
His original name was Tickles but one day
when I got home I said "Hi Tickles"
and he replied quite clearly Mr. Tickles
so the name stuck. He loves people and takes great
enjoyment in preening the hair of whomever he
considers lucky enough to hold him.
Any jewelry you're wearing is considered fair game,
as well as the clothes you're wearing
and the food you're eating.

Since I made this page, Mr. Tickles has flown to the Rainbow Bridge. We miss him terribly. He definitely brightened our lives for the 7+ years he owned us.

Mr. Tick and Phil
Ahhh - the joy of being preened by a budgie. :)
That's Mr. Tickles preening Phil. I wonder who's
having more fun there - Phil getting preened or Mr. Tickles
getting skritched on the head. LOL.

Snowflake and Dusty
These two cuties are Dusty (mauve) and
Snowflake (recessive pied). They're both very shy
and would prefer never to be bothered by humans but
once you've got one, the other will tolerate you.
We've had Snowflake for almost 6 years and
Dusty for a little over a year.

Snowflake and Dusty
When we introduced the two of them, Dusty was
so excited but Snowflake couldn't care less.
He'd even poke her on the head when
she tried to share his food dish.
Now they're practically inseparable.

Snowflake/Dusty's bread
Their favorite treat, besides seed,
is bread - any type of bread. :)

Ricki
Our newest budgie is Ricki (light green opaline).
She's just a few months old and is in love with Mr. Tickles.
He doesn't seem to return the feelings - I think
he has a thing for Phil. LOL Ricki has made herself
right at home and though she doesn't even quite weigh
a full ounce, she doesn't seem to be afraid of anything.

Ricki
This is Ricki's prison profile shot. LOL

Ricki and Mr. Tickles
This is Ricki's and Mr. Tickles' first "date."
It was the first time they were out together
since she came out of quarantine.

Learning about Avicakes
She hadn't quite recognized Avicakes as food yet
so she wouldn't go near "that thing" when it was
first put in her food bowl. We figured one of her first
"lessons" was to learn that we weren't trying to poison her.
If it was good enough for Mr. Tickles to eat, it was
fair game. You can believe she eats them up now.
