An autobiographical sketch of Louis William Rosepenline.gif (1361 bytes)

Big, bald, and beautiful, five foot seven, dark piercing eyes, a spring in his step, a song in his heart, he looks towards the light, loves kids and dogs, and sends money home. How can you possibly hate him?

Born in the capital of the world, New York, Louis William Rose received an education that could only be obtained in that metropolis’ once great public school system. When asked what he does, he says that he is a poet, political philosopher, writer, and parliamentarian. After his election to Christianity in ‘75, Louis utilized his peculiar musical talents for the Lord, performing as a baritone soloist for most of the major denominations.

Mr. Rose resides in Jacksonville, Florida, with his wife Jamy, who is a Florida Master Naturalist at Tree Hill Nature Center.  He has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of North Florida, graduating summa cum laude in 2004.   Now pursuing a master’s degree in Philosophy and Ethics, he is involved in politics, widely as a member of the National Association of Parliamentarians, and more specifically as Chairman of the Rules Committee for the Duval County Republican Party.

“Democratic process in a constitutional republic is rather narrowly defined”, says Rose, “True freedom depends on the extent to which people are aware of how that process works, and how actively they participate in it.  I tell you that merely voting for the candidate is not enough.”  “Like anyone else, I have a political agenda, but my focus is primarily on the process, ensuring that it is fair to all factions.  This requires a knowledge of, and strict adherence to the rules of order, and a commitment to free and open debate.” “Ultimately, parliamentary procedure is the only thing that stands between civil discourse and civil war.”

Mr. Rose is a member of the Jacksonville Parliamentarians.  The organization meets monthly for the purpose of teaching Robert’s Rules of Order to those individuals who wish to learn how to run meetings effectively, or to participate more actively in deliberative assemblies.
