If I can sort out who my grandfather's brothers and sisters (13) were, it will enable me to find who his parents were in Canada, I believe from there back will be much easier, but have been stuck for some years now. So if any one can help fill in some of the blanks, I would be more than grateful. Every question mark I can remove from the list below will be taking me in the right direction.

From names and dates that I have pieced together in the last month, and from looking at material that I already had in a new way,it seems that may great-grand father was Enos LaBarge 1828- 1902 who is buried In Old Saint Mary's Cemetery in Potsdam, New York( see picture of head stone at the bottom of this page). The other names and dates I have fit together very well.It rather surprised me because although I heard nothing to confirm it I had assumed my great-grand father never left Canada. I will be trying to make links to all names listed below, but it is looking like I have done what all LaBarges that go looking end up shoting for: "an unbroken link back to Jean de La Berge

DEC.01: Having found some of the right questions, that has lead to some answers. Knowing that Ignace (Enos 1829- 1902) was married three times, and having the names and marriage dates for those wifes gave me something to look for. Here is what I found. Given that by 1881. My grandfather, and his brothers: Enos1848- 1928 were already in the Potsdam area. I knew there must be a large family still in canada (at that time). Now I had seven names to look for. Ignaces age is three years off, but given all the names I was looking for are here this gives me four new names, and ages for all. I had a date for Leodore (Leodor) and that matches. So if any one sees a name here that they have more information on I would love to recieve it.
Oh yes one other thing, in Old Saint Mary's records there is a listing for:
Mrs. Frances LaBarge, but no plot number. I,m just guessing here, but it seems more likely than not that this would be Ignaces third wife.

Below is listed what believe to be my family line. The reseach dates and places are other peoples work, but it has been done so many time that I have great faith in all of it. Yesterday I got a copy of
Enos LaBarge 1828-1902's death certificate, on this I find mother's maiden name as "Wells". This is a name that does not fit with any records I have seen. This is the place in every one's research that things get odd, so will spend the rest of the winter trying to make it clear.
Note: the American-French Genealogical Society ,sights the most common name variant for Narcisse is Nelson, maybe I have my Nelson

           (Special To The Times)     [
penciled in: 1942 ]

Potsdam, July 11.- Leodore LaBarge, 76, one of the last

Mr. LaBarge was born near Louisburg, Canada, and came to
Potsdam when he was 27 years old  He was employed by the                                                    late Thomas S. Clackson II, when the latter operated the
sandstone quarries on the Racket river near Hannawa  He
was an expert stonecutter. With the closing of the quarries,
he took up farming and operated a farm near West Stockholm
Corners, Winthrope road, for many years.
He was twice married. His first wife was Melvina Kennedy

     * Re:
Louisburg,

"The only possibility that I can find is that they call
St-Louis de Gonzague by the name of Louisbourg. Since it was probably to hard to pronounce St-Louis de Gonzague, they named it Louisbourg(Louisburg). In the Canadian Archives & the Quebec archives, there are no town call Louisbourg or Louisburg in the Quebec province. No Lewisburg also."
