| Louisiana Czech Heritage Association | ||||||||||||
| The Louisiana Czech Heritage Association was organized in the 1970's by a group of local people who had become aware of the declining knowledge of the Czech Community. Primarily through the work of Marie Tuma, Rosie Walker, Helen Kraml, George Koncinsky and Frances Hazmark the Association began to work at preserving source materials, photos, documents, and other items. They also turned their attention to the Czech Halls and cemeteries. Working in a small group with limited resources they have achieved an enormous amount. Like all heritage associations started by elderly people with a desire to preserve the past for future generations they have struggled in their attempts. The Association is a 501(c)3 non-profit educational organization. | ||||||||||||
| Louisiana Czech Festival | ||||||||||||
| In March of every year the Czech Communities of Libuse and Kolin have put on a festival. It functions more as one large family reunion rather than a public festival, though the public is invited. Czech foods are served and Czech music is performed. Often Czechs from Texas or even the Czech Republic have performed. The Czech language is spoken by visitors and locals alike. | ||||||||||||
