| Newsletter | ||||||||||||||
| Our newsletter is something we have just started . It will come out quarterly and comes out in color with pictures and is sent to our members. I would also like to add that we do not have monthly meetings because our members are widespread throughout the state. Although we do try to meet twice a year. Once for the Minden Freedom Run in Minden, Louisiana because it is a central place for everyone and this year we had our first annual Chicot Campout. The campout was in April and the Minden Run is in September. Brothers of the Third Wheel Changing Times We have decided to do things a little different. We have decided to start with a quarterly newsletter letting you know all that is going on. If their is anything that you would like me to put or talk about call me or email me or Vanessa. Kendal Hebert, 13721 Weston Road, Abbeville, La. 70510, [email protected], 337-643-1485. On February 27, 2001 we got together with a few of the members and rode in a Mardi Gras parade. This was one of our first rides since the trike was finished being built. We had a blast. We also got some interested participents and signed up another couple. Glad to have you on board, Randal and Dorothy. Hope to have lots of fun riding. Frank and Angie Blanchard, Mitch and Sarah Davidson, Kendal Hebert and Vanessa LaBry, Randal Hebert and Dorothy Fowler, and Chad and Ann Fontenot were all the group riding that day. We ended it with supper at Heberts Restaurant for some chatting of what a great day we had. This is just one of the ways we are working at geting the public aware of trikes and involved. On March 16, 17, 18 2001 we headed for Liberty, Texas for Thunder on the Trinity. We left that day, Frank and Angie Blanchard, Mitch and Sarah Davidson, Kendal and I, Chad and Ann Fontenot and Randal and Dorothy to meet a new member to be Ronnie Langley for a wonderful weekend in Texas. In spite the cold weather we camped out and relaxed in front of a campfire. The following day we watched bike games and enjoyed each others company. Kendal and I entered the trike show where we placed first place. We were so excited. That evening we again spent a great time laughing and joking. This weekend the CMA blessed our bikes which was something we really appreciated. On Sunday we headed back home to Louisiana. On March 31, 2001, we left to celebrate Vanessa's birthday. We went to the Hog Rally in Lafayette, La. with Chad and Ann, Randal and Dorothy and Ronnie and Darryl Hebert with the Acadiana Riders. We then went eat with them and Mitch and sarah and Frank and Angie. Trike of the Month We though we would spotlight a trike each month. Explain a little about the background on the trike and the people who ride it. That way we can get to know all our people and hopefully recognize them when we go to meets. Like Larry Derouen did when we went to the Hog Rally. This month we will start with our trike. I would like for you to send or email me pictures and info on all your trikes so I can start settin gthem up for further issues. This trike belongs to Kendal Hebert and Vanessa LaBry. We bought this trike from Elmer Newsom ( also a member). We stripped it down adn from their began building it with 16 guaage metal. Construcating as we went. I also built the motor myself. It is a stock 1600 VW engine. The paint job was done by my son, Waylon Hebert. He used Dupont Base Coat Clear Coat in Dark Metallic Purple. I also had a lot of help such as wiring and other things from Itch Davidson and Frank Blanchard. Activities At this time I announced activities such as May 19, 2001 Govenor Foster's Sunshine Run, May 25, 2001 Gulport All Harley Blowout, May 27, 28, 2001 Third Annual Pig Trail Trike In Arkansas, May 25-27 2001, Second Annual West Texas Lonestar Trike In. Louisiana BTW Chapter Chicot Campout On April 27-29, 2001 the Brothers of the Third Wheel Louisiana Chapter got together at Chicot State Park in Ville Platte, Louisiana. After a long haul and and much to our surprise the chapter is doing a major turn around. While their we had 16 members show up, 24 guests showed up, 9 trikes and 9 motorcycles. WOW is all I can say compared to a previous one with noone showing up. Their we all made new friends, shared ideas and hated to part each other. We are now so fired up and can't wait till the next time we meet. You people were awesome. It was so nice meeting Johnny and Debbie and thanks for the dessert LOL!!! and visiting with Larry and Mary and Joe and Nelma. Also what awesome trikes. It is amazing what our imaginations can do for us. While their we had a meeting and went over the new by laws passed by Mike and Mary with BTW international and the needs to start smaller chapters in the state. For those of you that weren't their we are sending by laws to you. Again their is no way I can tell you how much excitement was with us at Chicot. We are all fired up and passing on the word about BTW and trikes. We also hated to part but left with a since of different emotions (love, caring, excitement and friendship and mainly brotherhood). Stay free on three always. |
